How a Jacuzzi spa is designed and made.
It all started with 7 Jacuzzi brothers immigrating to California from Italy around the turn of the last century. They were inventors and creators, first in aviation by inventing the first enclosed monoplane, used by the US Postal Service. But in 1956, an idea was born. Why not treat a family member's arthritis symptoms with a hydrotherapy pump. The Jacuzzi brothers invented a pump and a small niche business was born. The J-300, a portable pump, was sold to hospitals and schools.
This innovative spirit was captured by Roy Jacuzzi, a third-generation family member who had begun learning the business as a teenager. Sensing the American consumer's interest in health, fitness and leisure activities, Roy invented and marketed the first self-contained, fully integrated whirlpool bath in 1968. By incorporating jets into the sides of the tub, it became the bath that almost single-handedly created an industry. The rest, as they say, is history.
Jacuzzi whirlpool spas, baths, and hot tubs are still proudly made in Chino, California.

Well we get our New Jacuzzi in a week. The build quality today 2022 in my opinion is very good. I do love the look, the Balboa electronics, Glued AND Clamped every connection is HUGE, and also the 5 year Parts and Labor warranty we are given here in Canada. We almost got another tub when I said well say the motor goes in 3 months or a year i have a leak? I was told we only cover 30 days p and L, Then its 90 bucks a hour to service .....lol. Just like buy as is then pay to service wile your still forking out $$. We are happy with the choice . All tubs are made with pros and cons
I LOVE hot tubs! I don't get to get in hots hardly often at all, and ESPECIALLY now with the Tracheostomy, but I must say, When I do get to get in a hot tub, I cherish every single second of it, and want those jets at their maximum settings, and I keep them on AT ALL TIMES, whilst I'm in the hot tub! The last hot tub in which I sat was not a Jacuzzi. It was a SaluSpa, and I couldn't sit in it whilst the Air/Water jets were on, as I had to sit on the side of the Hot tub, whilst the air/water jets were on, due to the Tracheostomy, but I truly did enjoy myself in that Hot Tub, and cherished every second of it! I even played around with the control panel, and played with the settings!
Waterway, Lesso America, Sloan Led, Specialty Minerals, Duraplastic, Aristecth Surfaces, Sparktech, these are some suppliers of hot tubs.
I’ve had a Jacuzzi Model 335 for 3 yrs with No Problems!
I live in the Denver Metro area here in Colorado.
Michael H that’s a good unit, I used to repair them.
I just got the J 280 7 person hot tub
3:28 SAFETY IS JOB#1 while these guys are standing on elevated rollers lol
They just need numbers and money, the people is not the priority.
Do they clamp their pressure lines? Didn’t look like it from the video.
I live in the UK and I have a J235 which is under 5 years old and the base has rotted! Not Happy
"We use timber because.... its CHEAP!" :)..UNTREATED good luck. Sorry to hear that ....
I work at the jacuzzi company in Tijuana Mexico
“Your phones not gonna work in there” me watching this on my phone in the tub
wow im buying one for sure
sold my house with a jacuzzi.. i need to move to my new house in 6 weeks.. the new jacuzzi is allready there. Lol. i hope nothing goes wrong with the mortgage.. than i have 2 of them..
About to buy a used one and concerned about the base of it since it’s wood, imagine it’s somewhat rotted out after 18 years
omg there is a job for testen jacuzzi's, i would do that job in my swimsuit xD
I used to be a jacuzzi repair man. They’re good hot tubs
good to know.. you might have just made a sale for them..
I used to be a repair man too. Last week I bought 2 jacuzzi's for under 10k. A 575 and a 495.
Working on them is such a blessing compared to the chinese junk.
@@opidopie the 400 series just started when I got out, the 385 was the top of the line.
Would you recommend Jacizzi from Costco ?
Weak jets
Iacuzzi 🇮🇹 👍
I took delivery of a brand new jacuzzi brand spa last month.
Contrary to this video, there is NO WAY it was tested before it left the factory. The PVC pipe fitting on the heater was cross-threaded and when the installers filled it with water, there was water flowing everywhere out from underneath. The installers were surprised.
The local jacuzzi tech who came out to fix the fitting was super but was equally surprised to see what happened (and obviously ZERO factory QC testing, ie, no water test as shown in video). The sales rep said he filed a report back to the factory. This never should have happened. Now I have concerns on the other fittings underneath and all around.
I was also surprised that the wood framing was NOT pressure treated (as shown in this video). The frame appeared to be just plain white pine. The bottom wood frame by the ground was painted black - but did not look pressure treated). To me, this is inviting a shortened frame life due to wood rot issues.
There was also NO spray foam; just exterior wall foam board/ bubble wrap with only bubble wrap on the ground. This cannot be very energy efficient. My old spray-foamed hot tub (3 times larger) cost about $12-15/ month. However, the first month electric bill with my new jacuzzi has already jumped about $60-70... TBD.
I like the jacuzzi, but just saying.....
Thanks for sharing. Sorry about your spa.
Jacuzzi Spa's are now made in Mexico, Jacuzzi is No longer the #1 brand. I own a 2005 Jacuzzi J 315 model, but it is a time, an era when Jacuzzi made quality high-end spa's. Unfortunately Jacuzzi spa's reputation has gone Downhill, Jacuzzi is still good but definitely not as Great as they used to be & if I ever purchase a new hot tub it will Not be a Jacuzzi brand, the main reason I won't purchase a Jacuzzi is because of the move to produce their tubs in Mexico, stupid, stupid choice on Jacuzzi's part 🤦!
@@bennyhill5775 I agree.
This is a result of COVID and customers demanding their tubs yesterday. Unfortunately its a lose lose situation, get customers their tubs quickly and some are mad due to quality control, or complete high quality control and customers are also mad because it takes a year to get. You either get your hot tub in a reasonable amount of time, or complain when QC isn't up to the high standard it usually is. Frustrating, yes, but just a reality as a result of the last 2 years. You probably received a 200 series which stopped full foam production to accommodate the 300, 400 and 500 series full foam production in a foam shortage and temporarily switched to EPS panels. Once supply chains are back to normal, none of this will be an issue. The wood framing is in fact pressure treated, not sure what your situation was. Just putting this out there to correct any confusion.
Perhaps it wasn’t done by this particular manufacturer
She loves that seat? Wonder why I'm giggles so hard ride now
Bought a 245 last year...would not do so again or recommend to anyone.
Made like EVERY other self-contained spa... check out Aqua Living spas. Built better at a fraction of the cost!!
😂🤣🤦♂️ Not even Close!
Glad I watched this video, because I was thinking to buy one. For sure I will not! Timber frame? No way...
Honza C most are made this way, it’s treated for rot and insects. I have worked on them for years, it is very safe
Most tubs by far are wood frames. Steel frames rust and most manufacturers moved away from them.
@@doomsday9973 the newer ones are galvanized, so by the time it rusts away the tub is done anyway
@@wurly164 my last tub was a 2008 master spa with a steel frame. It held up fine but when it was hauled away I saw how rusted part of it had become. Master spa supposedly Dosent even do steel frames anymore
As a spa tech myself. I recommend Jacuzzi Spas/ Sundance Spas ( same company) as the first spa brands when looking to buy a new spa.
why? i've been in many jacuzzi's. in self builded, chinese and expensive ones. in wellness centers, at home, some friends own one and on some vacations. and the most people (just like me) like the bubbles and not the jets. what i do recommend is an isolated spa, some drain your wallet empty haha :p
anyway my spa has many buble nozzles and a 1200 watt blower.. it works perfect for me
Caldera/hotspring
Never if it's not a dynasty spa I won't have it and that's coming from at 15 year spa service tech has best all around balboa and geko hard ware water way pumps with the option to have a new self filling system where you water supply is plumbed into the tub and stops when a ball valve reaches a certain level full double stacked LEDs no more spray foam to dig threw to find a leak on manifolds or jet housings they are great tubs period point blank
@@jakemiller5351 Hot Spring and Calderas are nice. But Hot Springs are full of hard foam that is a real pain to pull off.
Back then, I would have bought one when they were still made in Chino, CA. However, they are Mexico made now. So, I want to buy American.
I laughed at the trade secret part...
Nothing Hotter than a gorgeous pregnant red head
BULLFROG Spas
Unfortunately, now made in Mexico.
More than 10 years maked in with the highest quality.
They had been made in Chino, CA since the 1960’s. Around 2014, they sent the jobs to Mexico. Sure, the quality is fine, but most other spa manufacturers are manufacturing in the US, unlike the greedy Jacuzzi, which is now “La Cuzzi🇲🇽 “. I’d get a either get an older US-built one or a new one from a different manufacturer. I don’t support slave labor where they are getting paid $3 an hour.
That is so convenient that the Brothers with the last name of JACUZZI went off to work at a company named JACUZZI. What are the chances of that???
Wood frame. Not even PT wood. Nope
K9 388 it sits in a sealed pan and they are treated, just not like deck boards
We use wood becouse it is more...bla bla! Becouse it is way cheaper and we inflate our profits :)
They are made in china now LOL 😂
Weak jets
Hotspring is better
