I think shields front and smoke back would be better laser defence. Smoke doesn't affect laser beams not originating or terminating within a smoke cloud.

I love the design! It looks like something out of command and conquer, or any type of rts, definitely stealing that idea

1:30:30 cruise missiles kinda fill that role, have very few missile turrets, hooked up wirelessly to small missile's that get's released "close" to the enemy (200-400m idk) and stagger the missiles.
You don't actually need that many small missile bays if the turrets are staggered.
