It’s refreshing after hearing so much controlled responses from the 19 Kids and Counting side of the family. I’d love to know more about the bigger picture, the bigger story and the extended family. And not just their opinions about what we saw on tv, but about their own stories. Their own lives. Amy is special and I respect her. She’s not perfect and she doesn’t try to portray herself as such. It’s relatable and refreshing.

If my brother did something like that my parents wouldn’t have allowed him to be anywhere near me let alone in a family picture. Jim Bob and Michelle are really sick. Why they were not investigated by CPS when all of this “hit the fan”, and the family still had a dozen under age kids at home, is beyond me. The statute of limitations might have run out on the crime Josh committed but the kids still needed parents that would protect them, and if they refused to then the kids should have been taken away.

If I could speak to Anna I would say 'Sins that happen in darkness need to be brought into the light. This is the right thing before God, for the victim and also for the perpetrator. It keeps God's precious ones safer, helps the perpetrator by making further sin more difficult to commit, it promotes humility and so removes some of the temptation whilst also allowing for accountability. God disciplines the ones he loves.' This applies to each of us as witnesses as well each of us as sinners. It is a hard counsel and does not necessarily involve shouting from the rooftops to the entire world. We need to earnestly and sincerely pray for the right people with faith and integrity to come alongside us.

As someone who has a degree in early childhood education & also 4 children of my own, I can't tell you how angry the Duggar's & their cult makes me! In college we were taught how to work with children without instilling fear and physical punishment on them. How would you feel if you found out your child's teacher frightened or hit your child? That teacher would likely be fired at the very least. Yet the Duggar's inflict physical & emotional abuse on their own children from the time they're babies.

And 2 bus drivers in particular, were feared. Respect or fear.? We knew when to sit down and shut up. In Jr. High there was a fist fight between a 6 grade student and the math teacher. Real punches. The Teacher was Teaching the next day and didn't get any grief about it. Idk many "nice" Teacher's from my childhood.

So messed up. If they use the rod on her or otherwise inflict pain to “train” her then shame on them. Someone please stop these morons. How much longer are we going to talk about them? We know enough to to intervene. This kind of parenting should be openly condemned by professionals and churches everywhere. CPS could at the very least require them to put their kids in public school and take parenting classes. Some day these kids are going to ask why nothing was done.

My grandmother and grandfather would have us go pick a switch when we would cut up. We had to choose a good one too, otherwise they would go retrieve one they found fit. I can’t say it left me with any long lasting trauma, as this was seen widely as “normal”. But I definitely do not use this type of punishment with my children. Never even used a belt, to be honest! Especially knowing that she was raised differently ( not IBLP) but CERTAINLY NEVER thought that she would end up writing a book ( Oh Dear God !) describing any secrets regarding punishments doled out by JB and Michelle and what the vibe of the Dugger home REALLY was….yep…he TOTALLY Regrets letting her step one foot in front of that camera! 🥹🥹🥹😜😜😜

Amy mentions the fact that her cousins missed out on social activities but what about the fact that all of these children missed out on an education!! None of these kids ever got the opportunity to see where a formal education could have taken them. Who knows if they could have been doctors or lawyers or scientists. I'm betting there will be lots of regrets as they get older and realize how they never got to develop into independent, functioning members of society - not just more stepford people for the church.

I don’t doubt what Amy says about the family is true; but I am sorry, as I think she is milking this for all it’s worth. Of course she’s doing every interview she can, and of course she is thinking of writing a book too, because why miss out on a golden opportunity?
She was not under Jim Bob’s rule, so how did he stop her from going on “Dancing with the Stars,” and how could he force her to go to marriage boot camp? She went under him because at the time he was still her best ticket to fame, and she thought he could still promote her.
I don’t doubt she feels passionate about what she is saying and that she is concerned about her cousins, but I can’t help feeling she is enjoying the attention. For what it is worth, I am glad she and her mom are speaking out; but I won’t be reading her book if she writes one. She already said what she had to say about her famous relatives, and she is just not that interesting on her own.

She was probably under Jim Bob's TLC contract and was "not allowed" to take the time off and/or "not allowed" to go on such a show like DWTS. A show such as this is probably very sinful from Jim Bob's point of view, and he would fear that an appearance on that show would taint the Duggar's "shiny happy" image.

Amy was NEVER a part of IBLP so she has nothing to add to about situation.
And she has NOT been a friend of the Duggars in MANY years. So she has NO inside info to add about their family.
I remember Amy had a few TLC shows where she went to Nashville to try to make it as a singer. I remember she was close to the Duggars then. The Duggars even appeared on her show to garner ratings for her. So she used the Duggars for that cross promotion.
For many, many years Amy has done interviews and magazines articles against the Duggars. She has NOTHING new to say about them because again she has not been a part of their lives so she need to stop giving interviews to keep her face out there.
Go away Amy and stop riding the Duggar's coattails. I cant imagne what she has to write a book about. BYE, BYE!!

This is interesting because my mom signed me up for a summer camp once and there was no mention of anything religious. But in order to go and eat lunch, you had to memorize a bible verse of the instructor’s choosing. I was such a nervous kid speaking in front of people and I kept screwing it up. Everyone else got to eat lunch. I missed archery and horseback riding. Finally I recited it in front of several instructors who were all trying to figure out what my problem with God was, in time to get on the bus to go home. I cried and hugged my mom when I got off the bus and I never went back. She was furious. I don’t think she ever got her money back either. But she never made me go back. The verse, and they paraphrased it a bit, “in my father’s house there are many mansions, if there were not would I have told you? I go there to prepare a place for you. I will come again” John 14:2 & 3 I get triggered at funerals by this as it brings me back to that time. It seems silly but I cried so hard and felt so stupid because I couldn’t remember all of it perfectly as they needed to hear it.

This can happen not only when your family is in a cult but simply for standing up against a narcissist or someone who is harmful. I know this all to well as my father is with a narcissist and I am now deleted and ignored from someone she knows because they didn't agree with me standing up for myself and other family members and kept telling me to compromise and have compassion completely dismissing and gaslighting anything I said. For a few moments it made my blood boil so I cannot imagine what Amy Deanna and Jill go through.

Spanking kids is not a crime or wrong. It must be appropriate, but it is a tool that serves a purpose and helps children learn about actions and consequences in a way that “timeout” doesn’t. My dad spanked me twice. I was more terrified than hurt and the second one didn’t hurt at all. We lived our childhood lives knowing that the belt awaited us if we crossed the behavioral lines that were set for us. All our friends were raised the same way. Turning corporal punishment into criminal behavior is crazy and does a great disservice.

I have a couple of issue with Amy.
Before I state the issues, I will say I have always liked Amy.
She is funny and seems real.
Issue one: She was an adult on the show. If she saw child a*use, she didn’t report it.
Issue two: She did not allow the a*use she witnessed affect capitalizing on the Duggar name.
Amy went to Nashville to try to break into country music and The Duggars seemed to support her, encouraged her.
    Same for Amy’s mother.
    Neither minded using the name.
They kept Amy at arm’s length?
If that’s true, how does she know so much about the a*use?
Amy and Deanna were more than willing to suck up the limelight while ignoring the a*use.

To add to that, she is still making money off using their name. She's been going by Amy Duggar King for years now. She could just go by Amy King but let's be honest, less people would recognize that name. I liked her on the show but I really struggle trying to respect her now. I know that the Bates are also IBLP also, however they seem to be happier, the little boys were actually a little on the meaner side, lol, Jud, Jed , and other smaller ones. The girls skirts and dresses even when they’re at home were on the shorter size, Above the knee.
My Dad was a Free Will Baptist pastor and so were my in laws, and had no connection to the IBLP in any way, however we lived by the same strict rules, except we went to public schools. I was the oldest and only daughter. I wasn’t allowed to wear makeup, earrings, cut my hair, wear pants, could only listen to Gospel music and if my dad caught us listening to Southern Gospel records in the early 80’s with drums, he called it rock gospel and broke our records, 8-track or cassette. The boys weren’t allowed to wear shorts and their hair couldn’t touch their ears or shirt collar.
We were whipped with switches mostly and very rarely belts. When I got in middle school and PE was required, I had to wear skirts, depending on the activity I would occasionally have to wear a safety pin in the middle of my skirt. The boys got by easy there because a lot of the boys wore sports pants instead of shorts anyway I had
to take brothers with me when I got 16 to date, which had to be someone from church.
I was made fun of so much and was never taught that God was a God of LOVE, only a man of wrath that I was terrified that if I had a bad thought he was sitting up there ready to zap me into hell. I married my husband 40 years ago at 17 years old! My Daddy was very abusive verbally and mentally, and if he lost his temper physically as well.
I’m thankfully that I learned that more than fear, God was a God of Love. Sorry this was so long and scattered, however it did cause triggers.
