    I would have paid at least £75 per box knowing I can sell for £300. Maybe I'm not for that business.

    Jali screens would have protected the hareem or private quarters of the concubines and other women of the household. The outer side would have been painted blue because it was considered to protect against the Evil Eye.

    Business is business but can’t help thinking Drew is a bit cold hearted sometimes. Give the man an extra tenner for his life’s collection if you think they’re worth £120 each!!

    • @jakecooper5855
      @jakecooper5855 3 года назад +2

      Didn't you listen to the narration? The guy goes to India for half the year, every year, buying up this stock. He is a dealer too, not a lifelong collector selling things he has owned for 50 years.

    • @sheilaghbrosky4150
      @sheilaghbrosky4150 Год назад

      And that man had all that stock. He bought to sell it. He has been collecting it for years.

      @@jakecooper5855 It amazes me how people always have to gripe about stuff because their gums are always flapping rather than listening to what the commentator is saying. People don't realize that Drew is saving stuff that might go in the bonfire. I've watched Drew for a long time and yes he does skimp sometimes but others I have seem him quite generous. What these whiners don't realize is that no matter how much you think something is worth, it's only worth what someone will pay for it. Enjoy your antiques!

    I have issues with people stripping cultural artifacts out of countries , VERY LOW prices after transport and customs costs ... must have been a steal in India :(

    • @emilebichelberger7590
      @emilebichelberger7590 4 года назад +1

      People choose to sell them and they normally go to dealers who like the history and originality. A lot of people love and look after antiques.

    • @Matt-gv6yv
      @Matt-gv6yv 3 года назад +4

      I don't think they are artifacts of historical importance mate! They're just Indian people's things, they probably sold them to the brits for much more than they are worth to a fellow Indian.

    • @goawaytours
      @goawaytours 3 года назад +1

      These things are often literally lying around in back alleys and in derelict buildings. If the repurposing and export market didn't take them, they would be cut up for fresh wood or rot away to nothing.

    • @rjwalker4153
      @rjwalker4153 2 года назад +1

      @@goawaytours Exactly right. It's good business for both countries. The India people get more for it than they would otherwise so it helps them, and the buying country in turn sell it for a profit.
