the tame impala version is good and it has a more uplifting feel to it but this is darker and makes you think a little both Amazing songs and amazing bands
@@devinreese7704 i prefer this verison to tame impala, although i enjoy many of tame impalas other songs, this verison seems darker, it not just words.
El cover de tame impala es una escalera al cielo, sin embargo esta tiene una particularidad, casualmente el tono un poco opaco me produce un tipo de melancolía, y si la pusieran en un antro me tripearía instantáneamente sin drogas :0
The transition between the chorus part and verse is so smoooth. I love Tame Impala version, they are really different tho. This one is way more intense in the sense of feelings and explosion of the sound. The video is surreal, a beautiful piece of art. I can really come into my existentialism with this song.
I highly recommend that people, before they get into the tame impala argument on here, listen to the original album version in better quality. It's amazing. Both versions are great, and I'm fairly certain Midnight Juggernauts really enjoy Tame Impala's brilliant cover.
After seeing this now its for sure. I'm in love with the Midnight Juggernauts!!! This video is soo awesome for such an amazing song. Some how they manage to converge the past and the future, into the moment. Just brilliant...
heard Tame Impala's cover first, but it's only a good thing they covered it because it led me to you guys!!!! holy sweet expletive, what fresh slice of heaven is this?
Saw them last Thursday in Melbourne - they were excellent, a top quality live act. This song in particular went off, so to speak. If you get the opportunity, see these guys live - you won't be disappointed.

We need you back! I found you in 2007, long before I knew about some Tame Impala band. I like both but your music hit me deeply. That's it. And I'm not alone.
I heard this song on jjj and really liked it. First of your songs I have heard other than into the galaxy (which i didn't know was yours until just now either).
@msfrydae There is some channeling of 80's Shriekback and Killing Joke (Nighttime album) here which really gives this a welcome edge. And what an awesome video!
@fyuuor You may be right about the warmth in the remix version, but this one has so specific sounds and atmosphere, that cannot be compared. This song by Juggernauts made another crater into my emotional memory!!
Awesome video!, its a simple time effect, you can do it with plugins in After Effects, literally use a gradient to offset each horizontal line if pixels from the next. All you do is film some people stood on a rotating platform. Awesome tune too!
I remember seeing this warbly film technique done in an exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney back in 2004. Was wondering how long before it would be appropriated by artists in another medium :)
For half an hour I was confused how the hell they managed to do the video with all the warping of the video. Then I realized that all they were doing was showing a line of video data, starting from the top of the screen the video's position in the timeline getting progressively "older" - basically un-synchronizing the video in steps from the top of the video to the bottom. I want to do that one day in After Effects - It looks fun to do. :D
Sincerely, thank you so much for this song. When I’m feeling down, I always remember this verse, and I even use it on some of my social media. You created something beautiful and I’m truly glad.
***** You realize Tame Impala did a cover of this song nearly 4 years ago when they were just becoming famous… Have a good idea of what the artist is like before you rant on about them not being good enough to make their own music. Tame Impala is working on their 3rd full length LP that will most likely be critically acclaimed as one of the best albums of all time. Their 2nd LP "Lonerism" was a step up from "Innerspeaker" and has more thought out song structures. Its a dumb argument as Tame Impala is one of the best bands out in the music scene now. They probably played the song as a tribute to Midnight Juggernauts, who are fellow Aussies. Tame Impala just took one of their songs and covered it and made it have more soul, thats why people prefer it.
R3ALDUBB3DD3R3K I've noticed that, when it comes to covers, remixes, etc., people tend to prefer the one they heard first. For instance, I don't think the Tame Impala version holds a candle to the original; then again, I've been a fan of the Juggernauts since their debut album, whereas I didn't discover Tame Impala until "Elephant" came out. There are times when a cover or a remix can eclipse the original in someone's eyes - "original" in this case being whichever version they discovered first - but I have not seen it happen often, neither for me or for people I have asked, which has been more than you might think (I've held this theory for a while). For me, anyway, this was not one of those times. My guess is, those of you who prefer the cover discovered the Midnight Juggernauts through, or at least after, Tame Impala. Feel free to let me know if I'm wrong, though.
very valid point. for me tame impala is the best band/artist out there right now and i love whatever they come out with. but this original version is pretty dope as well, there is a dark undertone to it, whereas tame took it and added their signature sound and some soul to it. kevin absolutely nailed it with his falsetto and the loopy guitar solo, basically delivering exactly what a cover is supposed to do. Am pretty sure that they chose to cover a song by a fellow Aussie band as they have some amount of respect for their music and thanks to tame, people like me found out about a new band whose music I'm discovering now.
Great sound ! I've just heard something else that I'm happy to suggest : The song "I'm Gone" by Nikö Laetailleurs. You can find it by copying-pasting *"I'm Gone - Nikö Laetailleurs"* in the youtube search bar. Hoping my own feeling become yours...
Is there any live performance of tame Impala version ?? Both songs are great but the effect of tame Impala version always makes me crazy and I can't understand why Kevin has never performed that live or shared in any platform .
I'm with you. Funny how split down the middle it is, lots of people like the Tame Impala version. This one's a bit daker, and a bit less hazy, which I like.
Yep, checked out shriekback and killing joke on youtube, never actually heard of these groups before, can't say If I thought they were similar in any way the guy on shriekback kind of looked like one of the vampires of buffy?, have to listen to more of their stuff at length.
tame impala-psychedelics
midnight juggernauts-dissociatives
who's got the psychedelic dissasociatives covered
Salvia divinorum
the tame impala version is good and it has a more uplifting feel to it but this is darker and makes you think a little both Amazing songs and amazing bands
I like both melody styles, but i will like more a mix between both, this one is more like a psycologic thriller and the other like 70s youth wave

[[[REDACTED]]] agreed
Is there anything in the world better than this? So wonderful. 3 years later and I still love it.
I personally think all of the versions of this song are brilliant.

Both versions are amazing, but I just love everything about this version, it's just so different and out there.
The best original special effects ever
I just listened to this song FOUR TIMES in a row! It's that good- fantastic video, fantastic tune, fantastic lyrics- I'm gunna go hug someone!

Midnight Juggernauts = Hyper stylized modern psychedelic.

Beautiful Song. Fantastic clip! Love the organic spinning time-warp effects. Very clever.

Desprende una esencia más oscura sin embargo Tame Impala algo relajante y luminosa.
oscura e inquietante

If only the internet existed back in the 60s. We'd have people butthurt about Jimi Hendrix covering All Along the Watchtower.
