Glad to hear it.....I don't know why TNF isn't.introducing MORE Steep Tech but they NEED to get back on their game. Thanks for watching...ENJOY your gear!
@GearWave facts. They need to start bringing back all the retro pieces. The demand is definitely there. Please post more videos of these classic pieces they don’t get enough credit.
I got an all black, maybe in 2001. I was still in high school when everyone was buying spydas. 23 years later I still wear it. I cut the buckles off and have a few rips I patched up. It has literally traveled and been with me through war. I WILL NEVER GIVE this jacket up. Definitely not water proof anymore. I want to send it in to north face to be restored but I was told I would never see it again 😢😢😢😢
Great review. I have one of the OGs in red, black & grey. It converts to a backpack. Fleece lined & it has the arm zippers. I think it's the Transformer. I'm 6'4" and I got it in a 3XL! Classic keeper.
My steep tech is over 7 years old and still kicking that was my first tech jacket. I just picked up 2 Nike acg jackets your rite the older stuff is better no lie. I love the older stuff nike needs to g back the 2017 Alpine jacket.
I only have two Apogee jackets. The first Steep Tech Apogee jacket I ever purchased is the F07(Fall 2007) version. I'm not exactly sure, but, I think it's the only version that included a front pouch that you can snap on with buttons in front of the upper middle pocket. The color of it is charcoal gray, shark gray and black and TNF words are white. I still have it, still wear it and it's still in excellent condition. I bought it from a store called "Tent and Trails" in lower Manhattan back 2007, it was the last one they had in the store, luckily it was my size. Having the big collar and wearing the TNF neck gaiter covering the bottom half of my face, I had some random people calling me a ninja on the subways over the years, haha! I also have the F13 version of Apogee. During 2013 I was able to order one online before it was completely sold out online for good. At the time, by the time I got home from school, the all black one was already sold out online, so I purchased the black and gray one instead, doesn't come with a front pouch or loops on the jacket to equip a front pouch like my F07 one I have. I actually like using the front pouch, it's like having a purse and I don't have to put everyone in my jean's pockets. It also doesn't have the cloth inside the bottom front pocket.
Ihave the yellow black with the kevlar shoulder and inside interior lining way warmer than that on and had a pull out hood and side vents on the back and arms. This one you have is like a pull over and very usless for out door activity a d you cannot unzip it. The problem with steep tech they don’t make them anymore.
I am nott feeling the new era jacket the older had the zipper under the armpit and the feel is not heavy tefflon i am going to do a review on mines fam
I agree! I kept mine simply for nostalgia sake. The OG version was def more robust but a lot heavier. They should have definitely included the arm pit zips.
@@Real_HOCUS The Futurelight fabric is a game changer. GREAT breathability and really soft fabric that's really comfortable on the skin. The L5 Summit Futurelight I reviewed was really nice. Feels like a softshell and repels water like a hardshell.
im torn on these regarding sizing, large had a 22 inch pit to pit, xl had a 26 inch pit to pit, I ordered an xl off eBay, I'm 5'9, 190lbs hopefully it fits cause this jacket is 🔥🔥🔥 the earthy tone cw you get from it makes it so much better than any of the supreme tnf pieces they keep putting out
Yeah this pieces color scheme is nice and a throwback to early 90' s and the North Face and Timberland green! Hope the jacket fits. Thanks for watching.
Long arms! I don't think this jacket will work for you. The arms aren't cut that long and this jacket doesn't come in a tall size. I would definitely try it on before buying.
@5:00 I noticed you said “Apogee jacket” when referencing the material of the older style. Does this particular jacket you’re wearing differ from the all black apogee steep tech jacket that dropped last year?
I'm not familiar with the Apogee jacket that dropped last year. If it looks similar to this jacket then it probably does not differ much. Thanks for watching
@@Ibebingshillin the sizing is a bit loose and will allow for layering. But the sizing of this jacket run small. I usually wear a XL in this jacket BUT I had to get a XXL for this new version. Please measure your arm length and chest then refer to.the sizing chart for this particular jacket to ensure the best fit. Thanks for watching!
Dufflebaggz I just looked into this and this jacket on some websites it still referred to as the Apogee Jacket which was it's original name. This jacket on other sites is just referred to as the Steep Tech Jacket. This newer version is a update of the original and has noticeable difference in looks and features. Thanks again for watching.
Ironically I just gave my “Lady Friend “ the pants yesterday and they look just like your jacket but I don’t think they’re the same material. By chance do you have a video on The Steep Tech Pants?
@@GearWave You are welcome. I never owned 1. I had a choice of buying 1 in 2012 but chose a 900 Super Natural. I didn’t know if 550 was warm or not. I wish I would of tried it on but I hate trying on clothes. Now that you said, “the ones from 1991 weighed about 5lb. I wish I would of bought it..
No. This jacket is not designed to be a 3 in 1. There's no zip in system and not enough room for a fleece jacket. Depending on your build you could maybe wear a light or slim fleece half zip or pull over. Or a light hooded piece like I have in this video. Hope this helps, thanks 👍 for watching!
I've seen these all throughout junior high school and high school, and thought how the these people kept warm? They really didn't! They would shake like chihuahuas in nyc winters lols. That being said they didn't know how to layer this right because it's something of a biker fit style. If I had this jacket back then or now I'll pair it up with underarmors thick long sleeve baselayer shirt, or something with Merino wool but not too thick where you have to pevit and can't move your arms lol. If anything they have then down versions in the steep tech line up.
The materials used are durable than this version that got released. The steep tech collection quality has gone down. Within months the strap of the 2020 steep tech broke off that’s how bad the quality is compared to the Ogs
@@allopez5506 But what specifically have you seen or noticed that makes you feel this way? Have you tested the OG Steep Tech against.the NEW Steep Tech to see.what.the difference is in quality?
@@allopez5506 The fabrics used in the OG Steep Tech are thicker and heavier. That doesn't necessarily make them better. The older materials were more rugged but fabric technology has evolved and now you dont need a fabric to be as heavy or thick to be as strong.
@@allopez5506 how did you manage to break a strap off? I feel like the OG materials were thicker and heavier....but has anyone really worn the newer version enough.to say whether it's more durable or not? I'm sure straps on the older version broke on some models as well.
This video was better than any promotion TNF did for the steep tech collection
This made me go out and find this piece
Give thanks for the history

I can honestly say this is one of best reviews I seen
I appreciate it. Your too kind!
I’m trying to find another one. I love my classic one.
Thanks for the history of this line. I bought the best version of this jacket yesterday.

I got the same one. Such a dope jacket!
True to size ? Go down go up? Pause
True to size but runs a big so if you want more fitted go down
Hype video!! I’m watch this in a little while, grab some chips chill back
I got one from 2008’ it’s very nice, but the neck is wayyy too high! You think it can be altered? Lowered?
