Jon, a well-informed review of Tabletopia and some games you like on their platform. Thank You. In this COVDI-19 era, my board gaming friends have gravitated to cross-platform, online, board games like Terraforming Mars, Scythe Digital Edition, and Twilight Struggle. I'm a fan and owner of Burgle Bros and was glad you particularly liked it on Tabletopia. Stay Safe, Stay Loved, Save NHS. All my best, Jon.
Thanks Jon. I have played a few games with a friend and my brother on tabletopia and it has been a fun alternative to being in person. We are lucky we are living in a time that this kind of technology exists.
Thanks for this list! I had no idea that Cartographers and Railroad Ink were both on there. Two of my favorite roll/flip and writes that I often play solo at lunch during work (because who needs friends at work). Also, I had no idea Roll Player was on there as well! Another great solo or group game!
Amazing video and great for those of us just starting to look into online options for our hobby! Loved the jokes on our current circumstances interspersed throughout!
Wow! I did prepare for this apocalypse 15.5/13 years ago. We finally had the time to play Clank Legacy last weekend! And have been alternating between family movie night and family game night.
Just got into playing digital board games. We have a bunch of board games at home and I'm trying to extend my player reach. This video was super helpful!
Great list, we have tried some of these....some of these I had missed when looking through...thanks for giving us a short list to focus on...sometimes deciding is the hardest thing to do, Enjoy your content always!!!
It can be a bit disappointing as well to find a game that you really want to play and then find it only plays 1 player unless you have a premium account 😭
Yes but even with that, there is so much to choose from. I had not taken advantage of the platform before the pandemic. There is always some sliver lining in every dark cloud....sometimes it is just harder to find. Stay well!
I like Maximum Apocalypse. It really captures the feeling of scrounging for the supplies you need, trying to keep yourself and your teammates from going hungry while battling monsters and treacherous terrain. Plus while some games in this genre might just go with zombies and call it a day, this one has playable scenarios for a number of Apocalypses, like an alien invasion or a robot uprising.
It's weird that a site that has soooo many games, has so few that I knew how to play. Took your suggestions and played a game of Railroad Ink. There's both a learning curve to teach people a new game and learn how to use the controls. Thanks Actualol!
Really, really fantastic video. I had not heard of tabletopia before the pandemic but after playing a few familiar games on there over the last couple of weeks I was just at the point of wondering what next. Great options thanks!
Great video!!!! I’ve been trying to get to tabletopia for a week but baby has just decided he doesn’t want to sleep haha! Can’t wait to try some of these, thanks as always for a great list ❤️
This is brilliant - and sooo helpful right now; it really brings a sense of normality to be able to play boardgames with friends through lock down. Would love more Tabletopia recommendations 😊 Also loving the livestream gaming!
I made my card and dice game free to play while we are all in lock down. The High Throne of Ireland is a 2-6 player card and dice game set in Ancient Ireland. check it out here tabletopia.com/games/the-high-throne-of-ireland
Excellent video, found a few games I am definitely going to be trying! Would also like to suggest Iwari, it is a great majority control game that is easy to play in tabletopia with turns taking around a minute each and plays up to 5!
Thank you soooo much, i didnt know this was a thing. Also this video was hilarious. So many witty comments, it was as funny as the ones with timmy and the gang. At least to me it was :)
Just to throw out another alternative, Tabletop Simulator has 25x more players than Tabletopia, a better interface, almost every board game, and only costs a one time fee of $20(often 50% off) while Tabletopia charges a premium for features charging $5-$10 a month. Edit: It's actually on sale for only $10 on Steam until April 7, 2020.
This video is specifically about games on Tabletopia that are available for free accounts. I agree that Tabletop Simulator is a great alternative and I might make a video on that topic soon. Some of the games in this list are not available on Tabletop Simulator, so I personally prefer to mix between the two platforms to get the most selection.
@@actualol To get the best experience out of Tabletop Simulator I would recommend using discord aswell as it greatly helps in finding people to play with(who can teach you games) aswell as hosting communities to talk to. What's popular is generally heavier than what your channel focuses on though- I moderate Ttsclub which is one of the oldest most active discords for the game.(discord.gg/9RTwy9w) If you joined I think you'd have an easier time finding mods to recommend as the workshop isn't the most helpful in that regard. P.S. Help me convince Aiste to play Tabletop simulator.
I love tabletop simulator as well, I script a dominion mod on there! But let’s not kid ourselves it has worse UX than tabletopia even if it’s more flexible
This is brilliant! I didnt even know that there was an online board gaming site... which is something that may bring my mental functions into question cuz How could there not be in this day and age? Thanks for this. Been a fan for a long time. Thanks for all your videos!
Great video. I know it's typical right now but I have also wanted to get into Tabletopia. I think a lot of people will get use out of this for a good while.
This was great. Thank you so much for sharing. And I know this good without saying, but great timing to throw this out there.... Stay safe, healthy, and happy. Happy gaming 😁
Thanks for the great video! I recently found out (due to the lockdown) that I could play Indian summer by myself, and it’s quite fun. Would be great if you could make a video about the best solo games. Just a suggestion.
I’d recommend The Veil. It’s a deck builder like Star Realms only every player has their own market and their own character with a unique deck and a ability.
Although this is free, I do want to say that Tabletop Simulator has 30,000 player made games that are free. TTS costs $10 on fanatical website or $20 on steam / humble bundle. Everyone has to own TTS, but after that initial $10-20, you have access to so many games.
This is exactly what I was looking for and so much better than what i had hoped for. Thank you so much! Since you already went through them... are there any good co op games on tabletopia that you would recommend? (maybe an idea for your next video?)
Ummm, not that I can remember for free. Set A Watch and Thunderbirds are two co-op games that are on there for free which I've heard good things about. But haven't played them myself so can't fully recommend.
Great video! Thanks. We've been looking at trying remote games to replace the extended family game nights we are unable to do at the moment. Zoom with a floating camera is okay. But, can be complicated by games of chance (e.g. most card games). Catan works okay with some rule modifications. Looking forward to trying out some of your suggestions.
Hey Actualol, I just wanted to say that on your recommendation my friends and I tried Stockpile on Tabletopia, but the interface has some frustrating issues. Cards were disappearing every round and could not be recovered, and apparently that's a common issue? Had that never happened to you? I hope it's fixed, because otherwise it was a fun experience, but we had to quit early because cards kept disappearing.
For me, Tabletop Simulator is better. But, both systems require a decent PC. It also required a fair amount of work to get into and understand how to navigate the interface and how to find people to play with. There are some great Discord servers out there to help with this.
The only bad thing about railroad ink on tabletopia is ya can’t play with the expansion dice as far as I know. Also, I would suggest gamers try out BoardGameArena.com
I've been desperately trying to use Board Game Arena but every evening I go to use it the website is overloaded by users and won't let me play. I hope they're able to improve their capacity. 🤞
