You get it. Thank you! So many misunderstand what the Assassin's philosophy actually means.

  • @jackmason9550

The problem of the ideology and philosophy of the Order of Assassins is the problem of trying to build on any fundamental truth in that at some point any attempt to build this way inevitably creates an institution which then exists to serve itself rather than serving the fundamental truth it was built on.
In the case of the Assassin's Creed, the fundamental truth is that "nothing is true, everything is permitted." This is a pure truth. Taken to any degree, it is a truth that always corrects any deviation simply by referring to itself.
Ezio spent his life contemplating the 3 ironies and couldn't reconcile them with the three core tenants. The reason why Ezio was unable to reconcile his beliefs and dispel the three ironies is because the three core tenants of the Order are imperfect. They are reflections of the institution that the Order of Assassins became. The only thing that will dispel the three ironies is the one thing that Ezio was unwilling to do, which is to test them as they test all things, not against the three tenants but against the fundamental truth the Order was built upon. If nothing is true then the three core tenants of the order are not true, which dissolves the ironies that are born from them. The problem is that as an institution, the members of the Brotherhood see the core tenants as being the Order of Assassins itself and so to throw out the three tenants is synonymous with throwing out the Order of Assassins itself.
To truly uphold the belief that "nothing is true, everything is permitted," it requires that the Order of Assassins stand without any tenants at all or otherwise be destroyed. This is the difference between fundamental truth and institution.

Its a shame the philosophy of both the assassins and Templars can't find a way to balance each other out. Both philosophies are important in growth of civilizations. But only when one overshadows the other, taking their ideology too far, without compromise do the problems arise.

Its funny how we first thot the game framed as assassins good and templars bad but as time goes on and as we get older we realize they were both just two different ideas taken too far at times. It is a shame cuz there def is a way to blend the philosophies and maybe find true balance.

The Creed is about freedom - radical freedom. You may think as you will and do as you will. But the natural check to freedom is consequence. When a person is aware of the consequences of their actions they become aware of their responsibility for their actions. They do not require an outside force, like Church or State or Templars to outline the do’s and don’ts for them.

I sort of have my own philosophy of the meaning of nothing is true, everything is permitted.
The templars want order so that peace can be maintained and it could work, but then again you would need to understand who will abuse this power like ceasre and al mualim.
In my eyes, peace can't be obtained by order nor freedom nor by any other cause but rather by the simple acceptance that nothing can truly bring peace, and conflict will always happen regardless, and thus nothing is ever truly gonna bring peace and that we must realise that everything is only ever permitted if we recognise that it isn't

Oh that will be a video but it will be part of it's own separate series, in this other serie I will talk about certain plot editions to the AC Universe or characters that serve no purpose and do stupid stuff and the first Episode just happened to be finished.
Now that will not be possible at the moment, Forsaken is one of those AC Novels I don't get through so I rather avoid Haytham topics if you don't mind.

If nothing is true, then that statement is self-defeating. Equally, it is strange to come to the conclusion that if nothing is true, then all people must therefore be equal. If nothing is true, then the claim that people are equal must not be true. The value of wisdom is also weakened if nothing is true. The problem is, man can never create their own moral standards without being hypocrites, and if hypocrites, then they lack the authority to impose such standards. The antidote to this problem is for God, a perfect being, to impose standards on men, but through a Father-child relationship. This way, each person is directly accountable to their Creator for how they treat others, themselves and their Creator.
Of course the question of consequence must come up. Man sins and the wages of sin is death. All deserve hell because of the wrong we have done, and our good actions cannot take our punishment away, just like our legal system. If you kill someone, your charity doesn't make you innocent, you still have to face the legal process. God solved this by sending Jesus Christ to die on behalf of mankind, paying their sin debt. All who put their faith in this message: that through Christ's sacrifice, and none of their own merits, their sins are forgiven and they can become children of God (being just creations in their current state) and through this relationship can inherit eternal life.
