I've done the steeping in alcohol actually! Green tea was terrible in vodka, but black tea was great! So just tonnes of black tea, cold brewed in vodka, then mix the tea infusion with soda water for what tastes like a fizzy iced black tea!
solid vid! love hearing about other people's tea philosophies, how / what / why you drink tea, etc in addition to the reviews. mad props for the shout-out to Lydia too, i fell in love with tea the moment she made some winter li shan high mountain back in the daaay.
Tea is perfect with a meal. I'm vegan and we often will have a mountain oolong with dinner. Or maybe a nice, ceylon. I also cook with tea. I made a smoked rice pilaf using...smoked taiwain oolong. You guys should look up Dr. Tea. He's only got a few videos on youtube but they are all excellent.
If someone is caffeine sensitive and they want to try puerh teas and like green florals, oolongs and jasmine scented what would you reccomend for a type of puerh and black teas?
I don't really have a solution for caffeine sensitive. It really depends how you react. As for the profile, try some young pu'erh. They tend to brew a lighter color and can have floral notes.
I have this one 2015 Yunnan Sourcing "Bang Dong Village" Raw Pu-erh tea cake not the price range you mentioned but its closer. I really like it, its my daily drinker
Do you guys use a tea-kettle with a keep warm function or you boil the water over and over again, or always a new water? Thanks in advance, really great what you do.
you guys are so funny :) I really enjoy watching you :) I really appreciate your insides especially to raw puerh, somehow I can't stand ripen one :) Thank you

Go to Whole Foods And get the alkaline water 99 cents a gallon. Use it for brewing tea and you won’t want to go back to your Britta filter ever again 💦 🫖
@TeaWe you forgot to mention the most important fact that organic is far healthier, and therefore more expensive is not the real problem. I wished every tea would become organic. Drinking pesticides is not a wonderful pic for tea enjoyer.

Thanks Robbie. Going where others are unwilling to go :).
I’ve seen jugs of black tea in the liquor store next to the mixes and additives. Must be a thing.

Yep Lydia is great.
What is your opinion about organic Pu Erh? Is natural tea "tastier" or only more expensive?

You can try the crassicolumna variety sold by Verdant Tea. It's naturally caffeine free.
Old boy t shirt! Lemme know when you're in portland dbs. I found gushu for 12 bucks, not possibly real gushu?
Weakest guy in prison?? 😂😂😂
Come for the tea, stay for the humor!
Great show. What info do you keep in your notebooks beyond tea name, date, and your impressions, if anything?
That's pretty much it. Sometimes I'll grade a tea.
$/g as well.
Any recommendations for affordable shengs, young and aged, from Yunnan Sourcing? Especially YS' own productions?
I know you aren't asking me, but in case it's helpful: I sampled several of the 2015 YS teas and liked the Mu Shu Cha and Zao Qiao Di.
But at $126 and $77 a cake these are hardly affordable. I was thinking $30-40 tops for cakes, plus cheapo mini cakes and tuos.

Look at one of Scott's new pu'erhs coming out. I think if you spend a bit more say $50-60 a cake, you'll get something pretty decent.
We are on well water and we have to get my high quality H2O from the H2O store. Our tap water destroys the flavor of tea.

No keep warm function. Just re-boil a few times and then add more water.
+Tea DB and the inside of the kettle is all metal ? I mean like it is not a glass or ceramic tea-keetle?
Yep!
You guys like Ralphy's whisky reviews? That's awesome

Question: In your opinion and your climate, how much time has a Puerh tea before losing its aroma without using an humidor. Thank you guys!
you store your teas in a humidor???
thats the new thing. we call them Pu-midors. :-P
+Brian O'Donnell I definitely have to try that
Zolanis1 i am using a small "dorm" style fridge (unplugged of course) and monitor it with a humidity and temp gauge.
Thank you Brian for your response, how do you increase the humidity when it need it?
And Darjeeling, which I never hear you guys talk about, is perfect for after dinner.

Question: Who is the wise guy who coined the term "bliss frisbee" to describe puer cakes?
A true legend.
