Great Idea. I have been sewing for many years, so most of the tips, so far, I have already known, but this one is new and timely. I am hoping to make some elastic waist things soon.
Please do - I’m a newbie would love to see more waistband videos because none have given me the “aha moment “ so I’m sti struggling at home to get this right :)
I wish had more insight on what exactly is going on when you're sewing it closed cause I did exactly what shows and left with excess elastic and not enough fabric, so now I have to unthread everything 😭
The fabric should be long enough to fit your hips and the elastic long enough to stretch over your hips but retract to a snug but comfortable fit on your waist plus seam allowances.. The trick was that she sewed the elastic and the waste band together at the same time. Start about 7 seconds and watch and pause and repeat so you can see what she is doing. She then turns the waistband right side out (about 22) and sews it, but she has to pause to ease the smaller elastic into the longer waist band. about 30
That is the easiest way I’ve seen to do a smooth elastic band. Thank you 🙏
It is! Thanks for commenting
Very cool and works a charm
