I had them in the wolf grey, black and scarlet red trim. Were fire back in the day. Wasn't be able to get them in my size of 13.5 when they dropped this year, also hard to find in the aftermarket.
WearTesters Hey Chris. What do you recommend for wide footers? Half a size up or tts? The only Kobe I had was the Kobe 8 and I bought a size 8 on that shoe but I still had some toe space even though it had a removal insole. I was thinking of getting a 7.5 on these bad boys but I’m not really sure if I would follow the size I wore in the Kobe 8s or stick with my natural size 7.5, please help me out. Thank you. P.S. I’m buying online because we don’t have it in store here in New Zealand. 😞

Yo Nightwing, I played in OG Kobe 5s and I still have them. The thing you said about forefoot fit applies to the OG as well. I was always aware of it and today I tried it again, and yes, up above the toes there is some plenty of room, even though my OG Kobe 5 is half size down from my TTS. It is not close, form-fitting at the toes.
The Kobe V was so close to being my favorite shoe of all time but the traction was pretty bad. The Protro definitely fixes that and its made a huge difference. I also remember despite the heel zoom in the OG, the Phylon was also pretty unforgiving. I love the implementation of the Cushlon and Turbo Zoom here. One thing of note, I'm sure the Protro 5 is actually heavier than the OG. The weight of the Protro was something I immediately noticed when I picked it up. It isn't necessarily heavy but it wasn't super light like I remember the OG being and I compared the Protro and OG in hand (no scale admittedly) and the Protro was definitely heavier. On your written review, it's listed at 12 ish Oz and most reviews of the OG had them at 10 ish Oz (the OG 6 was 9 Oz!!!). There was no wow factor for weight this time-- I think the more dense and cushioned Cushlon added weight compared to the original Phylon but when I played in them, I'm so glad they sacrificed some weight for Cushlon because this might be my favorite set up of all time (originally would have been the Jordan XX9/Melo M11 era flight plate shoes). Long comment but man I just love these things and they look great too.
I already have mine and I have been playing in dirty and grimy courts still I stick like hell and plus this shoe really helps me play a lot lighter and faster and more explosive ever since I have my knee injury
@@Chavanun555 Yes, they still work like new. My shoe game isn't that strong (no hypebeast stuff) but I do stack up when I really like how a shoe performs. E.g. I'm currently stacking up on 34s.
@@Chavanun555 3 packets of small silica gel will go a long way with maintenance. The rubber is still soft but I don't alternate between them. More so I ball out in them and donate when the rubber is halfway gone.
I miss videos like this due to the shutdown. I can not hoop at all, but I love your perspective and expertise in the performance reviews. Every time it makes me want to go out there and shoot some jump shots. A real OG in every since of the term.

My shoes finally arrived! So happy I was able to cop this especially with Kobe being gone now, I'll keep this shoes forever, MambaForever. And my goodness good thing I went half a size up, I could even probably go one size up with how thight the shoes are! Good thing I watched this review! Cushioning is awesome, the zoom turbo feels really good and it is true that the cushlon on heel feels like you have a zoom on the heel, maybe they have the cushlon in the middle a bit different so it feels like a zoom bag. Awesome shoes and can't wait to ball in it!
Everyone should send some love and respect to Geva Mentor who plays Goal Keeper for the Collingwood Magpies in the Suncorp Super Netball league in Australia as she has been rocking some Kobe 5 Protros during the re-commenced season and I think that's a boss move
The 5 was my very first Kobe shoe and in 2010 you were able to ID them and that's what I did to commemorate the Lakers winning the Finals that year.....And I still have them!!.....Oh and incidentally the midsole of the PG1's are very reminiscent of the Kobe 5's IMO.
I follow your vids & your sizing advice has been on point. I want to know if the Kobe 8 & the Kobe 5 sizing is similar? On your kobe 8 sizing review, you said unless you're gonna hoop in them, then go true to size, but if they are for everyday wear, then to go up half a size. For the kobe 8, i went a half size up, & they fit perfectly. Would you agree to the Kobe 5?
i played in the original and they were my fave hoop shoes of all time, think i have to cop these too, hopefully they release the hornet draft colorway, loved the way they had a rainbow shine effect on the toe area when under the sun
why is that every classic jordan is available all the time, but Kobe shoes are produced rarely... this makes no sense. these are the most perfect bb shoes every made. period! (+ kobe 8). I will buy five Kobe8 protros is they will release it later on... thats my only hope in this life.
I do like the lebrons. But even I think those are a bit much. Especially how hot your feet get. I still have the original Kobe V chaos and they are perfect. The zoom in the heel stop you from sinking into the foam to much. The cushlon in the protro feels like marshmallows in the heel.
The Zoom Pegasus running shoes combines Zoom Air in the heel and forefoot with Cushion. I wore those for a while and I thought it was slightly more stable than my current runners (Zoom Vomero 14, Zoom front and back plus Lunarlon). A Zoom bag would've probably stabilized the back to prevent some of that sinking.
Those are definitely ‘bad boys’ fantastic that they’ve been done so well, and therefore perform so well. I think they’re going to be an incredibly popular shoe

I thought it meant along with the heal but when you look at the pic it's all one piece. So yeah they probably meant a similar feel to the original. You right. I bought a pair and they feel amazing regardless. I know exactly what you mean about them fitting perfectly👍👍

The zoom air wasn’t removed from the heel, the material in the mid foot is designed to have a similar feel to the heel. The heel itself is still zoom👍
