Hello, I do not work because of my wife’s permanent illness, and I am on a 5-year visa. Does this affect the permanent residency, and does it change from a 5-year visa to a 10-year visa because I do not work? Thank you.

@@Oussamaderdar-b9o thanks for watching my video . It depends on the type of visa you have whether it is a dependent visa, work visa or spousal visa? Let me know what type of visa you have and I will try my best to advice.

@@Beckysekyere I am on a 5 year spouse visa and my wife is a British citizen and I take care of her because she is permanently ill so I cannot work. Does this affect my application for permanent residence or citizenship because I heard that if I do not work they will change my visa to 10 years. Thank you for your help

@user-om6yj4ip1d I am not aware about that but you are on 5 year visa, you can apply for indefinite leave to remain before the end of the 5 year visa there is a financial requirement and if the relationship still holds.
If your partner is on disability allowance, you might be able work with that especially if you are the carer.
