    What do we think.? I’ve been there and you’ve captured the feeling so well. The lights are so important in this piece, and even though it’s nighttime or dusk they give the warmth that’s needed. Loved the ‘real time’ video. It gives us the thoughts in your head before you do it. Thanks so much .

    This was so much fun to watch!You were much looser in your approach than I imagined you would be. Watching these real time videos, I’m making new observations about color and value relationships all the time.

    I really need to force myself to loosen up while painting more often. I find that it’s a common thing for artists to not want to risk ruining their piece by being “messy”, but the ones I put the messy brush strokes behind end up being my favourites despite not being perfect

    • @chamberlainpaintings
      @chamberlainpaintings  4 года назад

      Yes, something about those messy strokes really makes for a more interesting painting.

    Michael: I'm digging the long form videos and I hope you keep them coming. As an aspiring painter I'm always looking for different ways of articulating what's in my head and your instruction is really helpful. Probably far more helpful than many of the workshops I've attended, so thanks for that. Do you still have any paintings of Monhegan that may be available? Thanks, man.

    Hi Mike, it's incredible how you simplify the shapes of the buildings to almost an abstract point and it still works. I can't do that. I confess once I've tried painting a SF streetview to follow a premise of yours (not replicating your work but by painting some pic I found to practice complicated street views in the process) but it turned out cheesy and I painted it over...I put too many buildings and couldn't solve it. I think I would have to go too realistic with a street to make it work.

    • @chamberlainpaintings
      @chamberlainpaintings  4 года назад +1

      Cityscapes are a challenge. I've done this particular view many times so I have some of the problems worked out, but my success rate with cityscapes is low. Most of them are in a box in my studio.

    • @martingimenez339
      @martingimenez339 4 года назад +2

      chamberlainpaintings you are too humble, I've seen many awesome cityscapes of yours. But I believe you, although I'd love to see that box.

    love your pattern of LIght in this painting..I'm having a hard time at the point where the water meets the shore..just a straight line doesn't seems to tie the shore with the alcatraz part of the painting...think I would have varied that shoreline so it doesn't read as 2 different paintings.
