@brannen Strength Bias is MY JAM. Thanks for the shout out. Still going until June / July this year!

Did exactly what you guys spoke about in this podcast. Ran into a heavy ass barbell in qf last year. Have been working with a weighlifting coach who intergrates it with CF strength (weighted ring dips, pull ups, planches etc). Final 8 weeks of weightlifting and heavy squatting before I join TTT. Excited to see next years results!

I did good at the gymnastics and strength focused workouts. Pretty bad at the engine based workouts. I’d say the QF were actually pretty balanced this year.

Yes! Nailed it. Reviewing my post workout notes today. Facing facts...ouch. Really good conversation.

I agree w/ Brannen! The test felt like they only tested one type of athlete. I didn’t make quarterfinals (due to the first test score) but did the quarterfinals test & would’ve placed higher in quarterfinals than the open. Aerobic capacity has been my limiter coming from a football background so that’s my focus this offseason. Happy to be w/ TTT

To be fair, that doesn’t make them bad tests. In the past they biased the “overly strong” CrossFitter too. It all balances out and those who are both strong and have big engines can move on. I still think it’s about being well rounded. But yes, this year was much different than what we’ve seen recently.

I think the programming so far fits the Crossfit triangle for the base with metabolic conditioning, then adding gymnastic skills and then including strength endurance. I'm sure semifinals will be even more gymnasty and strength-biased than what has been done so far. The fittest are still moving on to the next level.

@@brannendorman6772 100% agree, just was a huge shift from last years open to this year which makes sense w/ the direction they are trying to head in. Just means there’s a lot more work to be done is all💪🏾

@@lauriewinkelman3609 very true, like Brannen said in the video, it was just a big shift. I think for the general population they were great workouts & the fittest will always move on regardless. On paper they looked bad but when doing them it was better than expected.

There will be people that are unhappy every year as the workouts change. Isn't the main thing CrossFit tests is the unknowable - sometimes it is more engine/cardio and other times it is strength and skills.

Strength should be tested to a certain extent at each level. I saw so many QTR finals athletes not be able to do the snatch weight or most of the CJ weights.
I think maybe #4 should have been in the Open.

I was just about to ask if strength is just barbell strength or gymnastics strength also and then it was answered before I could finish typing so 😂 yes was the answer

How many people are paying for a full gym membership that they train at then paying extra for TTT programming or any other ?

When it comes to building strength during the off season and not doing as much crossfit or other activities to focus on building proper strength, does this also apply if one trains a strength session, let's say in the morning, and a crossfit session in the evening, or is it mainly the case when mixing both strength and crossfit in the same session? 😄

Great episode as usual! Does anyone know how to view placement per workout in the quarterfinals?

    • @TrainingThinkTank

On the leaderboard click the heading section for each workout, and it will reorganize scores for that particular workout.

I’d suggest our strength bias path. From there, you can add 1-2 of our skill programs as accessory work each week! For example, if you need RMU work you can follow strength bias while adding the rmu skill program.

If Crossfit keeps taking 25%...and why wouldn't they when they can make more money....I think we'll keep seeing these type of quarterfinals.
