War Thunder's slogan should be "War Thunder: It's almost fun". There is so much potential and the game has these amazing high moments when you really feel like it's worth it in the end.
But the reality is that if you're not willing to shill out 60,70,80 dollars on a premium vehicle, premium time, boosters, etc. you're eventually going to reach a point where you're soft locked out of progress by the sheer amount of grind and the repair costs. Recently Gaijin reverted some of the most egregious changes to the economy so now it's just awful and not straight up villainous.
There's a popular War Thunder RUclipsr, OddBawZ, who uploaded a video 2 weeks ago (before the recent economy buff) where he showed two games where he was doing really well.
He was playing a premium vehicle (premiums earn more Silver Lions- in game currency- and research points), on premium time (more currency and research gain).
The first game he got 2 captured objectives, 9 ground kills, 2 assists, 2 deaths and a nuke drop (instant win and 15k SL). He got 92k SL for that game (77k excluding the nuke).
The second game he got 11 kills, 3 assists, 1 death and a nuke drop. For that game he got 87k SL (72k excluding the nuke). To cite the man himself: "this is diabolical. RIP new players."
Not touching War Thunder is a good idea, and this RB video came out before War Thunder’s most recent round of “updates” which are REALLY bad, and pretty much aimed at forcing out the F2P players.
TLDR: they MASSIVELY nerfed the Freemium currency rewards from fights, Silver Lions, to the point where even players with Premium accounts would end successful matches and found that they LOST money, due to repair costs. And Gaijin’s response was to gaslight the outraged players by acting like “But LOTS of people said this is what they wanted.”
Everybody: “BITCH, *WHO* DA FUQ SAID THEY WANTED THIS!? RECEIPTS! PROOF NOW!”
Naturally, no proof from Gaijin, and WT has become insanely grindy, even for the premium whales and sweatlords.
3:45 Funny enough, there’s a good reason that you probably drink Pepsi cold and that’s why you like it more. Coke is not SUPPOSED to be drunk cold, the recipe was made at a time when refrigeration was NOT common-place, which means Coke’s flavor is best when you drink it at room temperature.
Yes, this is also the time period when Coke’s recipe actually HAD coke in it, STFU.
Point is, I tried it myself and drank a cold Pepsi and a Coke that had been sitting out, and they both tasted damn near identical. Wild shit.

Couldn't stand high tier. Everyone sweat enough to fill the Atlantic, and fhe Grind sucks, so the Shermans became the best performing tanks on my record.
I have nearly a 2-1 kill ratio on the Easy 8. Even Modern tanks feared me.
This is just me gloating but in warthunder I've hit 5 planes out of the air with a tanks main gun and only 2 of then were kamakazing me
