I have watched a lot of Vanessa blank videos and found them very informative and useful. I wish her well and hope she carries on enjoying her time camping in the woods surrounded by the wild life.👍
Vanessa, you are the total person! Wife, Mother, dog owner, chef, excellent content producer, bushcraft expert and so much move. I enjoy your videos so much! This Winter will be difficult so I will pray for you and your family.
I’m so glad that you’re continuing with your channel and putting up new posts to my sons and I enjoy every one of them so thank you for all that you do
When I was young , few fishing lines ,hooks etc , plenty of 22 ammo , good knife , good axe , old tobacco cans and tins to keep matches dry , carried about everything in a homemade haversack , out of potato jute sack , and my 22 semiautomatic ruger pistol , had a bedroll that would shed biggest part of water . Sleep in a bed of leaves or sometimes in line shacks or hunting cabins , a few times in a cow feed shed , hay barns
The one ESSENTIAL item that I would require if I were stranded deep in the bushcraft woods, and struggling to survive, would be a complete chocolate Fondue set, with a bushel of fresh strawberries !!!
Thank-you Vanessa for sharing your thoughts on your equipment it may save people money which is very important these days. Something to note- China is restricting the import of ferrocerium rods now ( at least to Canada ) - and you can use your hurricane lamp to heat your tent or tarp shelter after making it secure from tipping over ( very important ) It's not super heat but it's better than a candle 🕯️ or nothing at all. ( Remember make it safe from tip over and suffocation before doing this )
Vanessa, I am almost an old man, and have been doing the outdoors for over 40 years. I've been through Tons of gear. Your today picks for gear are Spot-On. Almost every one; I own. Every one; except for the "brand" of sleeping bag, I own. Yes, these things, and the knowledge of how to use them, are the BEST. Thank you so much!
I remember when I got back from my ugh short vaca in Afghanistan 09 from grafenwohr Germany me in my room mate when to the local volksfest and a gentleman was selling wolf furs and I bought one for I think 28 euros and we well smoked in the barracks me cigarettes him other stuff smh but we kept window open a little despite that cold winter or 2010 and I’d cover up with that wolf fur and I loved it but dang!🤣 I’d wake up way too hot lol. Gosh I miss my time in Germany going around seeing old castle ruins I can’t remember the one I low crawled through a small hole into a room and was a bricked up wall and still to this day wonder what was behind it because it was old masonry…..oh well but Miss VB LOVE your videos!!!❤️🥰😍 you make me miss my huge German heritage and the deutschland so so much! God bless you!! Your videos always make bad days way better.😊 sorry for long comment lol plus that German shepherd Omg Love love also!❤️one last thing!🤣I love when the leaves came down and that one stayed their on your shoulder by your pony tail. It was cute sorry Im a kinda a attention to detail guy lol plus I just liked how the wind decided to act up. Just a little natural addition to the video lol. Omg I need to get to bed stupid bottle of Mountain Dew earlier in the day which I’ve not drank in probably a year😳. God bless shutting up lol.
My 1972 Berkeley Trailwise backpack is still going strong, got a lot of miles on it. I believe Colin Fletcher had one too. Youngsters on the AT give me a hard time about it but I don't care.
Awesome! I am having schnitzel for dinner tonight, for the very first time ever, thanks to your last video! Thanks for all of your great shows, and much love from the USA!
Also a loyal dog. Ours was a rescued dog - Megsie, a collie ,totally loyal very protective , very intelligent, and not a silly yappy handbag dog. X very lucky with her - sadly no longer with us. Miss the adventures and the pub that she always took me too. She was so beautiful and calm , lovely with children and horses, loved guns - miss her very much . Awesome lady x
Looks like a good ten items there Vanessa👍 Noticeably missing was a cutting tool and container but they might be in an upcoming video on this subject😉 Things that keep working day after day and trip after trip are most often kept by your side. Thanks for this list of your favorites, interesting and well done. Enjoy!
I truly love and respect how you differentiate yourself here from the total sell-out called Survival Lilly. I know you know her. Unfortunately she drifted from the earlier years.
Ordinary camping tools can, sometimes, turn into "survival" tools! I've enjoyed over the years, your honesty about all the things that you DON'T really use very often. The things in this video are the things you can DEPEND on! I have a military surplus Swedish "bow saw". Your RUclips friend "Lilly", has one just like it. She did a video sharpening and resetting it. Much better steel than you can get now. The folding saws are good, but they can hurt your wrist after awhile. I agree, wool is the BEST to stay warm, even if it's wet. And as for the lantern, meine freundin, it's the soft WARM light it gives us, NOT how much light. Correct?😌🇺🇸🇩🇪🚜❤
Great selection, hard to argue with any of those ! Nice to see some different ideas to other bushcraft channels. Silky Saws are awesome, but the blades are like a hundred scalpel blades & the lightest touch will cut you. So I recommend wearing a glove on the hand that isn't holding the saw. In fact one of the advantages of the saw you demonstrated is that you can hold it with two hands for any bigger wood or well anchored wood, which is usually safer again.
Nice kit Vanessa. I've had the Dietz #8 Air Pilot for 6 years, they still sell them in different colors on Amazon for around $50. They have a wider wick, a bigger tank than most. A lot of people collect old Dietz lanterns. I have several.🌹
I own several backpacks but recently bought the Stubben with side pockets and it’s become my favourite pack. The V1 is nicer looking and the seat pad can be removed but the advantage of the V2 is now it’s possible to unzip the whole front for easy access. The fact the pack stands upright is another advantage and makes a good mini table if one has brought another chair. Like that wool blanket, would make a great addition to my kit.
I love your list of items, because it's not to much and it's not to little, it's balanced. And I've been watching your channel for some time and I always think when I see you saw wood you make it look effortless even though it's not.
This was a very informative episode, Vanessa. Everything you showed, and demonstrated, proves it's quality. More importantly, it shows the value for the money. Advising us how the reliability of the equipment justifies the extra cost in most cases. I imagine the main lesson here is preparedness. Since luck favors the prepared, it stands to reason that anyone who tries bushcraft will be successful with the proper equipment, and knowledge from an experienced survivalist are invaluable. Thank you for posting this very necessary video in case someone needs to bug-out. I look forward to your next episode with great eagerness, since the cold will grip Bavaria harshly. Stay safe and warm.
Great video. You have some good gear and I trust your judgement on the gear. I know you will not promote something you don't like just to please a sponsor. Keep up the great videos. Looking forward to the next one. Take care and stay safe.
Great video. I have the silky saw, lantern, wool blanket, pocket rocket stove, bellow and, fire steel. I agree all are great products. Thanks for putting this together. Nice to see you again. 🙂 Love your accent!🤗😘
Your right about the time it takes for talking gear. Mine is easy to talk as it is nearly all X Army, tried and tested by hundreds of thousands over many years and still even unissued are fairly cheap. Sleeping bags don't come much better than an X Army Arctic rated one's. Good for all year round and any weathers hot are extremely cold. As always Vanessa a pleasure and interesting watch and a learning curve to take in. Arthur(UK)
I own about 4-5 58 pattern sleeping bags for the pure reason I find them being sold at carboot sales for a few quid and people rarely realise what it is they are selling. They are solid as hell you dont need a ground sheet because of the rubberised bottom and they are tested to below zero. Used them as a cadet and never used anything else. The only downside is the weight and bulkiness was of them. Most of my other gear is ex military. Lime you said it’s been tried and tested.
@@theghostofsabertache9049 It is all down to what you want to carry against knowing it works. But then you can look at the rest of the gear you would need to carry, but can leave behind, for the same result. I'm not saying there isn't a lot lighter or smaller to carry, but there isn't much proven better that doesn't cost a fortune. To many it is what's on its label or what it is marked up as, so it must be good, which is not always the case and in some cases a total waste of money, if not to mention dangerous if or when your depending on it. Good, clean, unused (if you can find it) Ex Military you won't go wrong plus it is extremely high spec and still fairly cheap.
You have some very nice gear, Vanessa. I'd really like to get one of those folding saws and a 100% wool blanket. I used to have several hurricane lanterns, but had to leave them behind when I moved to Ohio from West Virginia. I have a small collection of items that I consider invaluable and would be reluctant to ever part with -- my K-Bar USMC combat knife, my Cold Steel Tanto, and my mess kits.
Thank you Vanessa for another wonderful video,,,,,,, I appreciate your honesty,,,,,,,and I agree with you because I have some of the things you speak of
Thanks for this awesome video showing us your 10 very cool items. You were spot on with everything you said. I just found your channel by accident but subscribed as you are a quality youtuber and I'm interested in what you have to say and show us - and your dog is super cute.
Vanessa! I have been missing for awhile :-( thanks for this video and all the info. I would love to get the HAT you wear. Reminds me of one I had that eventualy wore out. Thanks for all you do ❤
Ten good items that I second , its up to the individual in how much they pay for them and what brands they buy , everyone is a good 👍 idea for camping and bushcraft Owen. ❤️Vanessa.
I love your content always and I pray as all that life gets better soon … your videos definitely help and I have to say your looking amazing and healthy !!!
Hands down, number one item would be my knife. I personally prefer my Mora Garberg. My knife, ferro rod, bug spray and 25 meters of #36 tarred twist bank line go on every single trip. Blanket is great as well but I live in a very warm climate and blankets can be a bit overkill in my case.
Your quest for quality that proves itself is so much appreciated!!! Thank you, Vanessa. This subject is close to my heart. If just one thing: lately I have been trying to get away or stay away from China-made products. And unfortunately, this is where Fjalraven fails. But I have not yet found a suitable alternative. Would you know of a brand that suits your standards? Vielen Dank und liebe Grüße!
My friends like to give me crap because I use a hiking pack for the adjustments for your back and hips . They use Alice packs and pack like that that actually destroy your back and hips .
G’day, Vanessa. I couldn’t get the brands of wool blankets? I agree with using wool, but couldn’t understand your words. Maybe a sign for some words? Thanks, Courtesy of Half Vast Flying
the camping chair is very cute. I have the Corona saw similar to the Silky. I damage a couple of the teeth hitting some stone when i was sawing some wood. you might want to check your teeth. Do you have a Tent Stove wonder what brand you use WWB?
I have watched a lot of Vanessa blank videos and found them very informative and useful. I wish her well and hope she carries on enjoying her time camping in the woods surrounded by the wild life.👍
The blow pipe is called a bellows in English. I also use a three legged chair like yours. Great selection of gear. Peace, Vanessa ✌️😘
Vanessa, you are the total person! Wife, Mother, dog owner, chef, excellent content producer, bushcraft expert and so much move. I enjoy your videos so much! This Winter will be difficult so I will pray for you and your family.
I totally agree, gear needs to be used. I hate watching a video of some bush guru whose gear is still in the package or Shiney and never used
I’m so glad that you’re continuing with your channel and putting up new posts to my sons and I enjoy every one of them so thank you for all that you do
You are always very professional with excellent equipment, just in case 👍. Hi good evening👋
Anything wool is worth it’s weight in gold during survival. Love seeing your gear thanks for sharing

very enjoyable time spent viewing your words. i have watched you for years and value each time i log to your videos. best to you and family.
Absolutely breathtaking atmosphere, your shots and energy are fantastic! Love it ❤
Awsome share Vanessa. Love that sleeping bag. Everyone likes getting down but I think wool is the best. Even when wet.

The duescha frauline a rare and dying breed. It is an amazing sight to see her in the wild and, amongst her natural habitat.

Pocket Bellow😂 I couldn’t remember the name on one of my videos either.

Great !
What brand is the lantern? I have heard many of them are junk and there only a few of them you want to buy. Thanks Vanessa, great video.
Thanks for this! I noticed no knife in your equipment list. Care to do a video on your favorite bushcraft knife?
Good Job Vanessa
