Actually, that’s a reference to the novel. In the novel there’s a lagoon in the middle of the island that the T Rex swims in, and there’s a river that was supposed to have a ride, it was stated in the novel that it was cancelled because it went through the Dilophosaurus paddock, and their venom was a danger to the guests, so they had to come up with a solution before the ride could open.

I came to watch because the thumbnail was Rosie the shark.
I also think the Plesiosaur is more likely for the River Cruise because their mouths weren't as big as a Mosasaur, I think. It would have a harder time biting into the vessel containing the guests and would be a better choice, however if we don't consider either of them then Ichthyosaurus make more sense for that ride. (I don't know much about dinos, mainly guessing from the very little I know/remember)

Not really, the river cruise was, essentially, something that we have seen a t least a good chunk of what it would be as there had been plans for it which did get folded into the River Adventure ride that Universal made for their parks a couple years later...which combines with the book about reasons for the delays such as the pterosaur issue

@@ThePrincessziah1 Rosie was a female Great White Shark who was caught off the coast of Australia in 1997. She was very badly injured when she was caught, and she was euthanized as a result. However, her body was preserved in a custom-built glass tank filled with formaldehyde, and she was put on display at the Wildlife Wonderland Park in Australia. Rosie sat on display at the park until the park closed in 2012 due to operating without a license, as well as animal welfare concerns. The animals were relocated, but Rosie's body was left behind. The park was abandoned and left to rot, and Rosie was forgotten. However, a man named Luke McPherson went urban exploring at the abandoned Wildlife Wonderland in 2019 and discovered Rosie. Luke posted a video of his adventure to RUclips, and that video went viral. However, Rosie's tank was heavily vandalized afterwards by vandals, and the formaldehyde was leaking out of the tank, causing huge health and safety concerns. Luckily, the formaldehyde was completely drained, and Rosie and her tank were relocated to Crystal World, where they reside to this very day. You can now happily go see Rosie the Shark on display once again.

Interesting that in all this theory crafting, you make no reference to the original book which sheds some light on the matter. The lagoon in question is in the psoropod (forgive the spelling) paddock with the triceratops. Allan and the children actually wind up taking a raft to escape from Rexy and get chased across the lagoon by Rexy before a juvenile Rex comes to steal Rexy's kill so Rexy turns back to chase them away. The "Jungle Cruise" ride mentioned in the CD rom was actually suspended because it turns out that the dilophosaurs (the ones who kill Nedry) love to hang out along the river bank and the fences aren't far enough back from the bank to prevent them hitting passengers on the river with their toxic spit.
Incidentally, in the book the Costa Rican government has a much more logical response at the end where minutes after the survivors are evacuated, the military goes in and firebombs the island, wiping out the population. Also, the nerd in me can't help asking: how's a mosquito or fly supposed to get blood from an aquatic animal to preserve it for cloning?

    • @MrDeadlysirius
      @MrDeadlysirius 6 месяцев назад

ingen had incredibly advanced methods of cloning and genetic manipulation. they could pull from fossilized bone and preserved dna in amber.
however they also just filled in any gaps with other animals DNA. Its why the Rex has trouble seeing stationary animals, due to its amphibian DNA. Ian Malcolm makes a good point in the book that these arent even really dinosaurs, but genetic experiments made to be freakish and awe inspiring, not accurate.

It's something that had various toxic buildup from the volcano that kept it warmer than normal there, and during the recovery of Nublar by Masrani, the Brachiosaurus herd was hanging out near there along with a few other species that were having issues with sickness and the source was discovered.

The book mentioned the lagoon, Spielberg is lazy and butchers the books he makes into movies. And if he claimed he cancelled because of too much merchandising, he's a conniving liar. He made 3 movies because he couldn't get _enough_ money and merch sales, it pissed off the author because he's changed it so much just cranking out money traps, so he couldn't make any more JP movies until Michael Crichton died.

I would've assumed it had to do with the river chase scene that was completely cut from the script after being partially filmed. They already developed the ride at Universal Studios to be based on that scene so my guess is they were leaving it open to be featured in a sequel. (They were also developing a Jeep ride as a phase 2 expansion in the park but it never got built, pretty fitting.)

My only gripe is that there is no explanation for HOW they would’ve obtained aquatic animal DNA given they got it from mosquitoes in amber. If it was a bog-based animal or one that surfaced frequently it would be passable but a deep-sea animal makes no sense

isn't the lagoon where the marine exhibit was (see jurassic park; the game made by telltale games.) (spoilers alert) for those who have played the Jurassic park game that was set after jurassic park 1 but before #2, still on isla nublar. it primarily circulated around a plot involving Dr Laura Sorkin, obtaining the shaving cream and evacuating survivors left behind...there were a few new dinosaurs seen in the game most notably the Troodon and Mosasaur (which was in the marine exhibit). JP Timeline:
    JP 1 (Isla Nublar)
    JP the Game (Isla Nublar)
    JP 2 (Isla Sorna)
    JP III (Isla Sorna)
    Jurassic World (Isla Nublar)
JW Fallen Kingdom (Isla Nublar & Mainland)
    JW Dominion (Mainland)

@ayushmankar4100 mosasaurs are so associated with World. Plesiosaur was intended for the planned Jurassic Park cartoon but was cancelled, and overall, they just fit the tropical aesthetic more than mosasaurs. Tylosaurs fit it too.
