Anna Diop mentioning Black Girl, not surprising considering Nanny was compared to Black Girl considerably when it premiered.

Black Girl is such a sharp and deep cutting, painful and beautiful movie. It’s so painful watching that woman’s pain and never being able to entirely understand it because of its subtlety but having it register in the deepest parts of yourself because in your core you know what the broad shape of it is.

I've been saying it since it came out. Most black people I know love Crash because it accurately depicts modern racism at a time when our collective conversation about race in America disappeared. It's not the greatest film of all time, but it captures something very real and I've always found it interesting how resistant people are to that film.

@Step_03 interesting, I always thought it was out of touch white liberals who loved it

Crash may not be Oscar worthy but it’s still a pretty good film in its own right. Not that shocking of a pick

I believe Black Girl is owned by Criterion, so Criterion Channel and/or a physical Criterion Disc Collection are the ones to access that film.

Some great choices here... and it really shows you that with 2 of 4 picking Spielberg's The Color Purple, it's really just white people who are so offended about that film.
