Here is an important warning: Make sure to get a Body tights for DD (I think Y'Shtola was tan) to protect your doll's body from dark stains from the clothes! Seriously, don't underestimate this with dark clothes like this. Your doll will get stains pretty quickly. The vinyl material is pretty soft and draws just draws in the color, especially around seam lines.
Yeah, the stand-situation is a bit of a mess. Imo, all dollfies should have stands included, but instead you need to buy them separately and last time I checked, most of the stands in Volks' store were out of stock.
My wife and I also have Y'Shtola preordered (from Square Enix Europe, not Volks directly to safe import fee, so we are still waiting for ours). I also have a KOS-MOS Ver. 4 from Xenosaga (my avatar pic is a photo of her) and we have a Hatsune Miku, a 2B (Nier Automata), Kizuna Ai, and some others. x3 We've been collecting these for years and they don't really lose value.
I was gonna say the same!! Body protection from clothes are a must on DDs

I learned the hard way with my 1st one and ended up buying a new pair of legs. QQ
This, this this! Also, the staff stains her hands, so I recommend some white poster tac for holding the staff in her hand AND you can put it at the bottom end of the staff to help hold it on the ground. I did that and it worked wonders!
Can get a stand from ebay! I bought a bunch for my other dolls and i'm excited to put ysthola together but i completely forgot to get her a body suit so not putting her together until then
just to say while meo was filming sections i was playing with the staff :D casting fire on piegeons in the tree opposite. 10/10 had alot of fun :D

The doll itself looks very pretty and high quality. The details are amazing. But her face... I can't. It's just not in game Y'shtola's face. It's like a "generic anime very feminine face" and the only way to know which character it is is through the clothes/accessories.
I know that recreating a face is not easy but... Yeah it bugs me a lot.
And too bad about the staff.
Knowing the ball joint doll community someone somewhere will come up with a better face (or even a better doll overall).
@@yokogoph exactly! Volks does amazing dolls, but their face-ups are not the best IMO. Custom dolls are amazing and there are a ton of super-talented artists that make their own take on characters that are way better
@@Azalecita Yeah there sure is I've seen people nake other game characters of course and they are amazing. I've seen G'raha and Zenos and I'd like to have one or make them lol
If anything, the face reminds me a lot more of the rendered face in the EW trailer rather than Y'shtola in game. The renders ironically feel much more generic in general.
Congratulations on Y'shtola. I guess it's now time to go down the rabbit hole of posing dolls and accessories for her, like getting the perfect chair. ;)

Did you try using the staff as a stand sort of thing? Where the butt of the staff rests on the floor so she doesn't have to hold the weight of the staff and can rest it on the floor and she is simply holding it?
Edit: forgot to say, the doll is beautiful and a lot better looking than I thought. I don't think it is creepy at all.
I'm actually in the middle of trying to make my own bjd WoL like I've seen a few people made themselves. As in made they searched for the best head that comes close to what they think their WoLs head is shaped like.
I've actually seen people make G'raha and even Zenos and they are amazing.
If they also release more characters I'd like to see what they do.

With this being their first one every made for FF14, it's okay. I myself don't like it at all and the prices is probably way to high for it too. I like the outfit and love the boots, but I would have to find another doll for it and/or make my own..
Yeah.. The outfit is nice. But the head.. Ehhhh.. The face doesn't look like her one bit and the hair.. (though the hair probably needs some sort of care for it to look better)
But for something that expensive I'd have expected better.. Just when I saw the picture on the box I knew it was going to be disappointing

Personally I wish I could get the outfit by itself so my Hatsune Miku could cosplay. You can get alternate clothes for them. Day off Y'shtola for example? You don't have to be limited to Volks accessories either, the BLJ world is bigger with much from Korea and China too, although sizes can get interesting.
I wish I had links, but I followed some doll groups in the past, and people have made very impressive Emet Selch and Vanaat dolls.
Ordered mine day 1, but from the Sqenix store before I realized Volks was selling them directly as well. Still waiting for mine to be delivered but your video gave me hope it'll be soon and she''ll be amazing.

Unfortunately I do not like it, it looks nothing like Y'shtola and the cost does not equal the quality. They've done that thing a lot of model/doll creators seem to do and give it the 'same face' syndrome to make them "pretty" sacrificing the original design for their own wants. I really don't like the fake hair and clothing fur, but then I never like it on anything as it always looks cheap as hell. I don't even collect things like this but just looking at this one I don't think its good :c
If it weren't so expensive, I think my grandma would enjoy this, since she at least used to collect dolla. Aside from the price, the thing that puts me off from considering getting it is how the face is not accurate to her in-game model. I suppose the Endwalker CG version does look more similar, but I don't like that version of a few characters. It's great that you two are enjoying it. The clothing and accessories look really nice.

One thing that is funny with dollfies 1:3 scale regarding Y'Shtola is that her scale to us is the same as the scale people in the shards have to the ancients. So if you sit her on a chair like that, it looks like she's sitting in a normal chair in Amaurot or on the moon. xD
We also put out dollfies in Ikea showcases (I think they're called Detolf). We simply take out the first and third glass bases and have two really nice spots for dollfies. Even without the stand they are safe to not fall over, because they can just lean against the glass.
Also like in my other comment: Get Body tights to protect her soft venyl skin against dark stains form the clothes! I seriously mean it, with such dark clothes you will get stains on her in less than a week.
I'm so jelly, I tried to get one but there is a weird error on my account that it doesn't recognize my address on some items. SE has just stopped responding to me now lol.
Saw this in person at the Akihabara Dolfie store when I was in Japan around New Years. It's quite a nice piece, especially when posed and lit professionally as it was there. I'm not a big enough Yshtola fan to have splurged on this when it first came up for pre-order but if I was I'd be very happy with it
Did you guys get an email when it shipped? I find it annoying that we spent 1,000 bucks on them, and they got delayed from the original release, and now we're wondering where it is. Volk's is a reputable brand that I don't think they'd scam us. But some communication would be nice.

I saw her at the Volks Store 2 years ago and while I can agree she's beautiful in person, and the details on her outfits are AMAZING (in comparison to the other Dollfie Dreams I have seen) I did not love Y'shtola enough to want to have her.

Congrats! She's so pretty, and the little details are so nice! I remember she was up for order around the time that I joined the BJD hobby. Y'shtola isn't a character that I would considering getting, so luckily my wallet was safe. lol
A character I would be tempted by would be G'raha Tia even though I prefer 1/4. I am thinking about a future fun project could be shelling him with a 1/4 BJD.
Currently, one of the dolls I'm waiting on is a blank Dream Valley Freyja Human Ver. in grey resin to shell my WoL. Just a few months left of the wait for her.

One of these days, I want to get a Volks Yo-SD to make my lalafell :D Volks has always been so good at detailed work when they're doing their limited or one-offs.
Maybe they intend you to use the staff as a third leg? I love the doll and the clothes. .but the face don't look like Y'shtola in my eyes.. but maybe that is just me?`Grats to getting one though!
Ah, I missed her when she came out due to not having a job. As a BJD collector she's a grail doll for me now.
I like that they added the sigils to her boots. Now I just wish that my character in game could get a pair so I didn't have to futz with Ley Lines.

As a Ball Joint Doll collector - I suggest buying her a 'body suit' from Volks or Smart Doll to make sure because the clothes and wig will stain her if you plan on trying other ball joint doll clothes on her. Also a wig cap from other ball joint doll companies or volks again. Staining on Vinyl dolls is horrible and brings the value of the doll down

I wish they didn't make Yshtola pale tbh (this is not exclusive to the doll). Besides that it's cool and glad you enjoy it! I remember the banner advertising this way back. I'm glad to see they added a strong level of detail.

Also, I don't think it looks like Y'shtola exactly. We can tell who it is, but when I see the face on its own it just a generic cat girl/anime face.

Now I may be biased because these types of dolls are not my jam anyway, but I do think the price of admission is ludicrously high for these things. Especially when it doesn't come with a stand and you have to do the hair as well. When first I saw the price, I had guessed that would be because of the size, but it isn't that big.
All that said, it looks nice, and I'm not saying they did bad work, but it's way, way too expensive considering.
Basically if you do reaearch into ball jointed dolls they are expensive in general.
Some companies offer cheaper prices for them while others are much more expensive. It iust depends on who you get a doll from and the circumstances of like you know being a fullset like this Y'shtola or not.
I don't particularly know the price range for dolls from Dollfie Dream bit as far as I remember I think they are one of the expensive ones.

Obviously the doll in itself is very good, and her dress and accessories are quite stunning - but I am glad I didn't buy, in part because of the ridiculous price difference between Europe and Japan, but mostly because her face is just too off for me. I know it makes sense knowing the brand of dolla but I like my gaming figures to look significantly closer to the character they are based on: if the face's likeness had been there, then I probably would have still bought it

Congrats on getting the dollfie dream yshtola and yes this doll is really more expensive then any other dollfie dream bjd yshtola is 1000 dollar more expensive then the kaito and len kagamine bjd dollfie dream I am waiting on getting. And make sure to take care good care of her and keep creating your ff14 content.
So, it has a ridiculous price tag, is essentially a large barbie, the accessories are kinda neat, but the fact that the company couldn't even be bothered to put it together for that price tag, happy I didn't waste money on one, lol. All the power to anyone with that kind of spare cash to drop though, to each their own.

I got the bigger premium version called Cosplaying Girlfriend. Life size with all kinds of extra... Ummm.... 'features'.
Not as good as I thought it be. Doesn't really look like the character and for the price it should have came assembled and clean with a display stand. The quality of collectible figures and dolls have gone down while the prices go up. But I been collecting this stuff for years so my standard is high.
