The government should give him 34 million dollars for the time he spent in jail. Like wtf? Being sorry for him isn't enough, give him something ffs...
3.4 mil.....100,000 a year tops
Get his defence lawyer to pay his
compensation!
Obviously the defence lawyer/s did not do their job!

The taxpayer is held accountable for defence lawyers screw-ups! 😷😷
They said his state doesn’t allow any financial compensation! Unbelievable!
off course

It's pitiful no telling what all he endured during those years happy new years
My innocent Son charge with capital murder no evidence but when U poor can't afford a lawyer in Alabama U screwed.
@@monicadudley8868 Mam, I'm not doubting you for a second, but I know 95% of parents believe their kids are innocent. That being said, if you're son is innocent, you have to keep fighting it! Gather up absolutely anything you can to prove his innocence. Someone out there will take on the case! The justice and health care system fails the poor every single day. I hope to God if he's innocent, it will come to light and y'all sue the pants off of them! My heart goes out to you and your son!
I have said in comments a few times that there isn't much worse than being in prison and you know you are innocent. The things that that would do to your mind must be just awful. The longing to be free would be terrible.
I don't know what's more of an injustice... being put in prison for 34 years for a crime you didn't commit, or to be awarded NO COMPENSATION for being put in prison for 34 years for a crime you didn't commit.
Unbelievable.
The first is worst a billion dollars is not worth one day in prison because you could get assaulted or killed in one day, but they need to give him some money so that he could atleast have a sort of good life now he earned it
Not that state. No compensation. He's old enough I would think to get social security, and he has his family. But man, adding insult to injury. All they did was let an innocent man go with no compensation no apology.
i am in tears 34years is no joke...i wish him well
I mean, he is pretty much done with it. He got his life stolen. He wont be able to have a normal life anymore
And no financial recovery....that's the state of PA for ya 😡
@@Pokedawn100 That's so ridiculous! He should at least receive something financially! I wonder if he could take them to court for false imprisonment & receive compensation

They don't compensate because they know the rates of wrongful convictions are high.
Not normal. They usually compensate.
I get angry that noone is being held accountable for taking 34 years of his life away.
theres a pending lawsuit
Good...someone deserves to have 34 years taken from their lives. That jury should have to each call and apologize, look his wife, kids and grandkids in the face, and tell him they are sorry for ruining his life.
@@craven4bmore709 not just the jury but the prosecutor the detectives and the judge….
That sentence brought me chills.
They have to be held accountable, not monetary, because quite frankly that's not good enough.
Not only did they ruin his life, the pitiful state of Pennsylvania DOES NOT allow him to be compensated for their error in conducting him!!! What an injustice

Don't dorget a child murderer and rapist had 34 good years of freedom too.
@@MrLoobu Maybe
Yes, it an absolute disgrace. The state was big enough to put a clearly innocent man in prison for 34 years, but not big enough to admit their own mistake. The US justice system is a complete joke.... not sure why anybody in the US would think you have the best justice system in the world.
*The power of persistence.* *He never gave up and his wife waited for 34 years*
not really , they're not together
More like she never gave up on him
she stopped having contact with him and is "hoping" they'll be together in the future. Incredible. He didn't even do anything wrong
@@GT-mc9eg she actually did and stopped writing him , abandoning him . Which just shows how much she loved him .
The judge:.

"I'm sorry for the wrong doing and for what you had to endure; you'll be compensated and we'll ensure you'll receive proper care to adjust back to society"
I would be so pissed off with the whole system
The thank you is such a stab in the heart, how is the thank you gonna restore to this man what he lost? I am mean how can he get a thank you as if they send him to represent the country in war or something? I am really pissed. He doesn't need thank you, he needed an apology and compensation from the justice department that wrongly convicted him and robbed him his life and that of his family, oh my gosh.
you're kidding right ? the 2 prosecutors got promoted to judges over the bodies of their wrongfully convicted victims , then they use their clout to cover their crimes , luckily theres a new generation of judges follow the law instead of covering for those nasty malignant old bags
Yeah thank you for WHAT???
100% how can someone not be angry after being wrongfully convicted and treated as a criminal. :(
Unbelievable ! And also no compensation ?... What a travesty of justice 😞
He's currently in the middle of a lawsuit! The appellate courts have upheld it, so he'll likely get his chance to try for compensation.
and they wonder why people take the law into their own hands.
There is no amount of compensation that can give you back 34 years of your life.
@@brandonvladovic4194 compensation would be better than nothing in return for what he dealt with so he can live the rest of his life in peace doing fun things.

I find it disgraceful that this man was not compensated for the years of incarceration he suffered as an innocent man!
blame the state, it's their law. Just for reference in Texas he would of gotten about 3 million.
34years bless him. Disgusting that he cant be compensated, i wish him and his family all the best for the future 🙏
The law makers, whoever has control over that, are truly sorry people for this. Makes me sick they're not willing to right the wrongs they've not only done towards the victims who didn't receive real justice, but the other victims they created by convicting the wrong individuals. I don't understand how they can live with themselves when they look at people like this man, and see what they've done to them.
It’s ironic that those that falsely convicted him as guilty of a horrible crime are themselves absolute guilty of a horrible crime they should be held accountable, maybe it wouldn’t happen as much if they were
@@shellwirtful ive always found it very convenient that there is enough evidence to show people are wrongly convicted, but never enough evidence to prosecute officials for wrongdoing and corruption.. Of course the police are always impartial when investigating themselves, honest 😉

Wheres Jim and his family's justice. Justice is a right for everybody, at the very least he should be compensated $millions for his wrongfull conviction. That in itself is a crime.

A big salute to the two ladies from The Innocent Project, their love and enthusiasm with their work is astounding.

How can anyone give this video a thumbs down?!?! The Innocence Project dedicate there lives/time to save innocent people's lives. Our court system needs to change. One innocent person that is found guilty is to many. No innocent human deserves there freedom taken. To be able to give a human there freedom back must emotionally be like a rollercoaster.
Thank you for upload
I think people give a thumbs down at the actions of the people who put them there, not the man being set free.
Or it may be those who know they put the wrong person behind bars because of their guilt or less than lawful acts. Police want someone to pay since that is how the community values them and reelects them.
its all the prosecutors and cops that like to railroad people , they don't like justice or anyone even getting some bit of justice after so many years
People give thumbs down because they see nothing wrong with putting innocent people in prison.
We still have crazy people in this world
"Never believe that it's the same man."
it hurt...
Time after time the DNA test was all that was needed.. Its an outrage that the cost of one of these tests is all that comes between the prisoner having the test and being released or not having it and remaining in prison Shame on the US justice system Its punitive and cruel
The US legal system is like a nightmare. The goal is just to prosecute someone, it dosen't matter so much, if it's the actual perpetrator or not..
Many of the police tactics used in the US are illegal here in Finland.. for example, you don't offer someone a shorter sentence if they tell on someone else. Bcs you then give them a good reason to lie.. another example, the police are not allowed to lie during questioning..
Theese things seems like a no brainer to me..
The legal system varies greatly from state to state. When a crim in committed in one state, that state deals with it differently than any other state. The only exception is if a federal law is broken.
Exactly
@@hunterhudak947 corruption should carry a discharge...maybe prison....corrupt officials, judges, jurors who falsify evidence, frame, don't evaluate cases well fire them and potential death penalty
I'd love to dump my citizenship here and move there.
So there was no actual justice served for the murdered girl and her family? may her soul be resting in peace.
No justice for them, 34 years taken from an innocent man and his family, 34 good years of freedom for an anonymous murderer/rapist. A wrong outcome is always the worst outcome, but maybe not for the police, prosecutors, and judges who put him there and kept up the lie.
Even the bird liked him! It wasn't even afraid to land on his finger when he lifted it, how could they lock this man for 34 years! I wish him a happiness and respect from everyone around him.
Finally someone whose named Karen but also not a Karen. Bless her heart.
thats a nasty evil term . don't you think thats a wrongful conviction of ladies named Karen ? are you evil and use it in evil ways ?
There are a few crimes here- the loss of the innocent 15 y/o girl; the conviction & incarceration of an INNOCENT man for 34 YEARS(!!!); AND the fact that THAT INNOCENT MAN CAN'T RECEIVE RECOMPENSE FOR WRONGFUL PROSECUTION AND CONVICTION!!!🤬🤬
He’s 63 when released, spent 34 years in prison. Lawyer says “he spent almost half his life in prison!”. 😳
Yes, I noticed that too. 😕
Poor man!! So glad he's permanently free!!
I think what she meant is "at the time of the filming", which was a few years later, making 34 less than half of his life.
Make his defence lawyer pay his compensation!
Obviously, the defence lawyer did a crap job in proving his client was innocent!
I'm amazed and in awe of all the people at the innocence project. I'm to old now to ever need you but this is a great cause.
He should get state funded therapy for life, a huge settlement, all paid medical and medication bills for life, free college, and to be excused for paying taxes each year. All wrongly convicted humans in the USA should be getting these things. Someone set up the petition.
The system makes me sick. After 34 years of someone's life, now oops oh he's innocent. Unbelievable....
I know you can't get time back, but i hope he was compensated financially for wrongful conviction. Bless his life with good health 🙏🏿❤
Compensation means nothing
@@harshitbasand6357 compensation can't get those years of his life back, but it can indeed make the time he does have left, better, at least from a financial standpoint. At least the, financial burdens wouldn't be yet another issue he may have to face.

Wow. I’m so happy that he was able to get the help needed for his release. This is just a travesty. 34 years.
As for the victim and her family, they may never have justice which makes the wrongful conviction even worse.
34 years ago, they didn’t have the forensic and DNA evidence like today.
That made wrongful convictions a lot easier

Such a gentle soul, i'm glad he is now free. He should have been compensated for his false imprisonment. It makes me wonder how many innocents have been put to death in states with the death penalty for crimes that they did not commit?

I don't understand why these things are taking place even in 2021. It's tragic. I couldn't imagine 34 HOURS in jail, let alone 34 YEARS in prison! God bless this man, his family and friends who stuck with him throughout this ordeal, and the sweet ladies who got him freed!❤❤❤
Miss wife, you are a super duper exsmple of unconditional love. May God bless you today, tomorrow and 4ever. What a wonderful person you are. With you on our planet its clearly a better place
Cases like this prove to me that the prosecutors and the state just want to close the case. They'll throw anyone in prison as long as they can get another conviction on their resume. It's so sad that 34 years of this man's life was taken away from him. I can not comprehend that. 34 years in a cell. I can barely stay in my bedroom for an hour.
I hope he's well and making the most of his freedom.
What a rip that a wealthy state like Pennsylvania won't financially reimburse it's residents for miscarriages of justice that destroys their lives. These people certainly deserve compensation!
Loved ones gone, friends, his interests, hobbies, favorite tv shows, favorite food, places he used to hang out in, the whole entire life as he knew it.
Its a tragedy, I don't know, if anyone can come back from this. This is horrible, not a billion dollars would set it right again.
I'm disgusted in the USA judicial system. This man lost 34 years of his life. He missed growing with his children, time with his wife and experiencing the simple pleasures in life for something he didn't do.

This is very sad and scary. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty. How can he not receive any compensation? That shouldn't be up to individual states to decide.
Very sad happy story I feel for him so much we’re judicial system is a mess and the ones that run
It is bazaar that they would take the word of a legally insane person and use it as the primary evidence and especially that a judge would allow it.

How humbling this man is, and those lawyers are the unseen heroes.. However, it's disgraceful that he isn't compensated for all those years, hope he finds happiness back with his family and his undying love for nature.
As a UK citizen, i find its utterly crazy that different parts of the USA can refuse compensation, the law is the law here and thats how it should be in the USA, its unforgivable that he spent 34 years in prison for something he did not do and is on his own when he finally proved his innocence.
You have the best country in the world but your legal system is very broken.
The US best country in the world? Where did you hear that lie?
Compensation varies by state
@@tymom9313 Thats my point, its should Federal law like it is here in the UK and many other country's, all law is central here in the UK in fact and regions cannot over rule it. an individual state should not be able to deny a victim compensation, its despicable.
I dont know what you mean by "best country in the world" but if you talk about human living standards, quality of life, its Norway, and the other Scandinavian countries although Sweden have been declining in later years due to irresponsible migration politics. United States is the 28th best country to live in in terms of quality of life according to the HDI list.
I do t feel anymore like we are anymore unfortunately. Maybe if there was compensation for the wronged the justice system would have to do better than shoddy police work.
The people that work the Inncence Project are the true stars in law.
