  • The trailer brake connectors are notorious for coming loose because they are exposed to the elements and bounce around with every bump! I used marine heat shrink tubing and marine shrink wire connectors to fix em up!

Soldering on a trailer, rattles the brittle solder. I have those solder connectors and they eventually rattled loose after several years. I'm looking for something more like a J Box screw in type. I use LED lights, and as soon as the connection is not clean, I get a warning light. The silicone ones you replaced are really good. Flexible, easily removable, just need to tuck them better than that.

"I have _heard_ these aren't reliable", these still work but I am re-engineering them.

Steve Carell resonates in my head. No! No! No! NO! Extend the lead from the drum, put the connector away from the harsh environment and place higher in the frame. Having a connector helps for troubleshooting when you have failure.

Lend the trailer to your brother in law and he will show you that all the wiring you did was for not, as he rips out the connectors "on accident".
    Great job nonetheless. 😊
