You can tell Trevor is Canadian by how his hero defeats the dragon by apologizing to it.

I binged both seasons over the last couple of days; It was amazing. I want to talk about themes for a bit in this season. There were quite a few but I want to talk about the main ones, something specific to this story that was not created partially by the system, like honour because taking vows is baked into it. For me, the main theme of this season is home and family, especially the loss of them. I'll focus on home to keep this comment focused and short. Here are examples:
    1. The first scene of the story is Arn coming back home and looking for his family which immediately introduced the main themes.
    2. The first people he meets are in the wild because they lost their home to a human threat. He helps them regain it which shows the audience that it's possible.
    3. Right after that we learn that Arn and his family lost their home because of the impossibly dangerous threat which almost feels impossible to defeat.
    4. Another village he comes across is lost along with most of its people by a supernatural threat. This time home is not regained, it was not really possible by this point, but its people found a new one.
    5. Hero comes across an elf village that is largely at peace. Elves only lost their home and their families because of the hero's mistake. This is a twist, "hero" wasn't the salvation, he was doom.
    6. Village in the wilds is also threatened, by not something that can be easily defeated, it's nature. The solution was not defiance but submission to its oppressor which I find interesting.
    7. Minor two steps of the journey. Arn came across two logging camps thus far and both were at peace. Especially the second one was occupied by a happy family. I don't think it ties into the theme heavily, not everything has to, but at least that secluded family occupies my mind a little.
    8. Miner camp in the mountains is also in trouble but home here is not a place as much as family is. Miners were about to leave this place anyway but they couldn't because of the captive son. The line between the home and family theme here gets blurry which I think is appropriate before the finale and the conclusion.
    9. Even the dragon at the end leaves its home because without family nothing is keeping her there. Taking into account all we've seen so far I think any other ending would not feel as good as this one.
    10. The conclusion of Arn's arc is realising that Ironlands is not his home anymore, despite having family and his kin there, as opposed to the dragon. It can be interpreted in several ways.
So this is my evidence of family and home as the central themes. I didn't talk about them at length or analysed them because I merely wanted to present them. I think people are more than capable of drawing some conclusions themselves. Only because it was largely improvised I don't think we can't talk about it analytically like with any piece of media. It was cohesive and I loved it.

It's really fitting, I think, that the first time we saw Arn, the encounter was solved by Simon talking his way out of it and now he solves his quest likewise.

I watching this basically a year later, so I knew something was up but THAT 91!!!! My new favorite number!
And the way you narrated/acted it was so brilliant it brought tears to my eyes.

An amazing conclusion. Heart succeeds where Iron fails, as befits Arn, and makes for a much more just ending than simply killing the dragon. Perhaps in the south Arn will find a hidden dragon egg to look after, so those great creatures might yet be more than memory. Whatever the case, your Ironsworn series helped get me into solo roleplaying, and has continued to serve as an inspiration. I know this will be something I return to watch again, and I hope you can keep making content like this for a long time to come.

Trevor, you've inspired me to hell and back and I enjoy my sessions a lot better having examples how to creatively interpret oracles, weak hits and misses.
I still have some stuff to catch up with season 1 and 3 and now season 4 is currently in progress - I am excited that despite being late on the party, it is still on! I hope you will produce such great stuff as long as possible and you never will lose any fun of it!

Being an actor (voice or otherwise) is a skill, being a storyteller is a skill, being a GM is a skill. I can appreciate all the skills you bring to the table (so to speak). But the real magic, the real gift is how you weave all these skills together into something entirely unique, and utterly satisfying. Thank you for sharing! I’mma go watch season 3 now! 😃

A blinding light tears apart the darkness of the night sending Arn stumbling through the thicket as he stares up at the otherworldly vessel that slowly lowers to the ground. Fog rolls out of a hatch opening in the side of the preternatural object. "There's one. Take him!" a gravelly inhuman voice utters in a language Arn cannot fathom before a strange blast of concussive light envelops Arn and he slides to the ground, unconscious. Their target secured, the men in metal suits drag Arn into the hatch of their ship and blast off into space.

PS: My 1y and 7months son, who does not speak yet, every time the show begins and the music raises up, he comes running fast near the tv and stares at it, paying attention to all the tiny details of the intro. And then when the IronSworn text appears he raises his hands \o/, after that, when you appear on the screen and begin talking, he gives you a big smile! I know I am little late to the party, but I just started solo RPGs and this channel was suggested to me. Since I picked Ironsworn to learn, it was suggested I watch this season. I am absolutely speechless! This was tremendous! I am totally surprised at the story told over these 18 episodes. It was wonderful! So much so that now I feel there will be an empty spot in my mornings where I would watch these. [Spoilers] In the prologue, the "Arne, what have you done" gave me chills. The moment the overseer in the last episode brought up that the dragon has a reason for following the family, I started to have instant sympathy for her and the discovery of the eggs was tragic. When 91 hit, I was choked up. When she accepted Arne's truce, I cried. I would have been more accepting of Arne's death than hers (and I like Arne!) so I was so genuinely relieved she had a happier ending than originally foreseen! (And I'll fanon that she found more of her kind in another, safer land.)
Thank you for another wonderful, powerful season!

Greetings from Moscow, Trevor! What an amazing production you've made for the RPG community. I find your show very special, because it creates tension in a way that scripted television (and, to a certain extent, GM-guided tabletop play) cannot. For when playing solo, nobody has any idea what is going to happen next. Your series taught me how to play Ironsworn and provided much inspiration for effective solo RPGing. The storytelling and production value, as others have noted, are exemplary. That you can take a few dice, miniatures and set pieces and turn them into a compelling world of gritty drama is really incredible. Thank you for this series, I and many others eagerly await all that you have in store for the future of this channel.

What a season! What an ending!!!!
I have finished watching the whole series now and... blown away. I liked Arne from the get-go, but indeed who'd've thought it would get to this point. I also love how the production for the whole thing just got better.
One of the things I love about this is not just the random elements. It's how you just accept these absurdly dangerous quests using unforgiving RPG systems, then use every opportunity to make the situations worse, and STILL manage to get these endings! That 91 was legendary. I'll never forget this.
My fiancée and I have ordered some printed materials for Ironsworn and will start playing co-op in the near future thanks to this. But, until then, it's season three for us!
I can't wait to be up-to-date with your content! I would love to get a d6 level on Patreon, but I live in Brazil and the exchange rate just sucks. So I got the d4 level for now until I can try to afford a d6 level. Until then I'm liking all the videos and commenting when I can (and forcing my friends to become fans, haha)

I hope to see you do a party next time around. I like the idea of Arn and Simon getting the band back together. Thanks for sharing your adventures, it inspires and helps me as a solo enthusiast.

This finale was AMAZING. I could say that I was enjoying 2nd season less than 1st but the two final chapters are incredible, the best of the series so far. Don't misunderstand me, season 2 is great overall :) I'm ready to start Dominion and finally be up to date. Congrats and thank you for the show!

Thank you, Trevor! I stumbled across your channel researching Ironsworn. Oh My God was I on the edge of my sit all season! Great ending, and thank you for a very entertaining illustration of this wonderful TTRPG system. Needless to say, I can not wait to view your other seasons.

Trevor you are an inspiration. Through the fantastic mechanics of Ironsworn you crafted a compelling, thrilling story that I didn't want to end!

My gosh, man... my gosh. Thank you so much, Mr Trevor. Words, really, can't express the appreciation I have for your work. You really, truly, literally, are a genius. A master of the art of story telling. The creativity inside that mind of yours knows no bounds, and given a system where your Imagination is free to take the reins, this happens. An absolute masterpiece in the art of creation.
I can't say anything that will even come close to showing how much in awe I am. Goodness gracious, man.
    Thank you 🙏🏼

Sir, this was a season worthy of any number of accolades. When that dice roll came up, I fought to avoid being overcome by feels. Douglas Adams claimed the answer was "42", but you proved beyond doubt that the true answer to life, the universe and everything is "91". A brief respite, then on to binge watching season 3.

Goodness. This was fantastic. I love RPG's but I don't think I have ever made it through a full season of anything on youtube. How do you only have 14k subscribers? Criminal.
