This project started in 2014 and you are right CHEC is working on this project which is Chinese company. Everything was going well till 2020 but after recession in srilanka. Srilanka was not able to pay for development of this project and due to this project srilanka also got into debt. So now there was two options for srilanka one was to pay which was not possible for srilanka and other was to give land unofficially to China to continue the project. So now Chinese company is working on srilankan land with full of power and control. Obviously srilanka has control but behind the picture something else. One more thing I am saying everything that I talked to locals and workers. We are not jealous to anyone we are growing economy and we have many things to support our neighbours not to downgrade. We supported srilanka during recession and didn't take any benefit of bad times like China.
