Extraordinary passenger numbers to the NF rally. Great. And good numbers on at least one train shown in yet another excellent video. I recall travelling on the Cornish main line in one of those 'units' (railcars) shortly before withdrawal. They rocketed along at 100kmh (60mph): from memory, somewhat rough riding but most enjoyable. Surprising that the GWR HST is still on the WSR as I used it in September 2023 and assumed it was only on the preserved railway for a few days.
Originally there were two sets of HSt trains being stored on Wsr . They went on to Newport to be scrapped , in return for this the wsr were able to use one set for a Weekend running. The new set on Mikes video is a Another set which is being stored at Bishop’s , Hopefully the Railway Will be able to acquire the set for future use on the railway.
@@paulfrancis764 Excellent information: thank you! Sad that some are being scrapped but I suppose that's 'progress'. Wales has a long history of scrapping railway rollingstock and locos as I understand it. (I am Australian).
@@edmundcarew7235 No problem , Sad to hear the passing of Sir Kenneth grange designer of the 125 ( Just last month ) Who would have thought that the Hst would run on the main line for 41 years.
@@paulfrancis764 In Australia, NSW TrainLink's XPTs will operate for another couple of years at least as replacement trains from CAF have had numerous design issues and are not yet even being trialled. The XPTs are similar to the British HSTs, albeit with airconditioning more suited to Oz conditions: they've also been re-engined.
Always good to see another one of your videos Mike , The Dmu has been in use this week on the line, Seems to be running well and hopefully trouble free, Certainly busy on that stretch of the line today, The Class 14 was also in use up at Norton with brake van rides today and Sunday, Along the remains of the Barnstaple branch line ,Hst is as far as I know hopefully going to stay on Wsr I believe there are talks on going .
Hi mike , Don't Know if your about The class 14 is in action D9526 will be operating again on TUESDAY 6th August to return the vehicles to their regular stabling points and return herself to Williton. The timings for these movements are: 1100 NF to BL arriving 1110 1200 BL to NF arriving 1210 1315 NF to MD arriving 1505 1605 MD to WN arriving 1641 NOTE: Timings for operational moves may change and the working may be altered or cancelled.
That was great fun ... going down to BL again ... but the train didn't get to Norton Fitzwarren ... you changed trains at BL and went somewhere but it only came back to BL again .. why the change of train ? It's got me puzzled 🤔 ... it's still a lovely video .. loved every minute !! Much appreciated 👍👍
The DMU is ideal for the shuttle to Norton as it does not need a locomotive to run round its train. Quite a lot of stock is presently being parked there in the run round area.
I have uploaded several videos of the classic rally at Norton in the past . Just enter "Classic rally at Norton by admiralscorner" in the RUclips search box and you can see what people were going there for.
WSR appear to be having a great season with Witherslack Erlstoke and Betton Grange all hired in. Lovely video as ever. As a Southville boy may I enquire what part of Bristol are you from?
I was born in Plymouth, but left home to work at Aerospace at age 17. Val and I lived for many years in Filton Park and Val grew up in St.Andrews area of Bristol.
Mr. DMU is useful, Erlestoke Manor is beautiful. That diesel should be on the blink, Because he does nothing but stink. Admiral is very handsome, His wife Val is equally pretty. Together, the two are as wholesome As two little birds nesting in a tree.
I have never ever seen a train packed like that on a Heritage Railway! It’s so good to see the WSR doing so well.
Glad you enjoyed your pasties!
Good news all around!
Great to see you both out and about, down at Fitzwarren , Clive
Val replying - Thanks for your comment Clive. Very pleased to say the weather was cooler today.
Another excellent video Mike and good to see the return of the pasty Val. Also good to see the DMU running again.
Tanks Terry. Previously this year I had only seen the DMU parked up. Glad it is running again.
Good afternoon another great train action on the wsr so very enjoyable to watch beautiful weather keep the videos coming
We are grateful for some dry and cooler weather for such activities.
Lovely to watch. I noticed none of the younger males on the DMU gave up their seat for you Mike.
Thank you Andrew.
I love your videos, Mike. Trains, countryside, and people watching. And the ocean.
My favourite things to video!

Where is the pasty shop in Williton Mike?
Almost opposite the petrol station. The Farm Shop is named The Old Bank as they took over the Lloyds Bank premises.
