@@j.k.4479 regardless, everything lightsaber is different, it is built by the Padawan before getting promoted to Jedi, it is nigh impossible for any lightsaber to be compatible with this weapons system because they're all different
This is the exact opposite of how real militaries design their vehicles. All US military vehicles actually do not have keyed ignition systems, so that any person can access them as necessary. Because if they guy with the keys gets shot or looses them you might still need to get in the humvee and drive away.
That is really interesting actually. Do they still use door locks or are they using external means of securing their vehicles don't abscond without anyone knowing?
Interesting Was there any case when army vehicle get stolen in base attack? Or said scenario would be "impossible" at all in whatever conflict US army is on
They want to do this to the guns. These are people that fundamentally do not live in the real world, so every safety feature is worth the sacrifice, _for them._
I feel very bad for the pike users, the cross guard and basket hilt users, the axe users (all 2 of them), the broadsaber users with their flat emitters, and everyone else with a handle that wouldn't just slide easily into a cylindrical slot. Imagine trying to fly with a spear handle plugged into the console, and wedged against your shoulder and neck.
I, am trying to imagine, how this is even suppose to work. And why they do not use something easier, like a hidden button that you use the force to push. Having a lightsaber lock, just means if you steal a lightsaber, you can still use it. Or use a sith lightsaber. And if the jedi damage his lightsaber, now he can not use weapons while trying to get away. It is just a dumb idea.
They're seriously pulling shit out of their ass at this point. Aren't all lightsabers meant to be built by the padawan before getting promoted to Jedi? Doesn't that mean that all sabers are fucking different!?
That "Safety Protocol" is an actual design flaw because it puts the user in unnecessary danger. The opposite of the exhaust port on the Death Star, which was an essential function that is only a weakness if the guy firin' the proton torpedo has Force Powers and used whomp Rats as target practice.
The helicopter light sabers in that damn cartoon. Star Wars Rebels, I believe. Made no sense either as that would imply Light Saber blade either are shaped like wings or have the ability to be flexed into a wing shape. Star Wars writing today has that exponential power creep into the blackhole of stupidity.
I can forgive a lot but bad ideas like that, yeah no. Although let's not pretend that the old EU didn't have stupid lightsaber concepts either, like the lightwhip, that thing was more of a danger to its user than anyone else. Not that I'm forgiving the damn helicopter thing, they could have just, you know, JUMPED, force users can do that, do super jumps. But nah, let's make a gimmick thing to sell toys.
I haven't seen the blades on them, however lightsabers don't HAVE to be in a cylinder shape. There are cases of lightsabers in other unusual shapes, such as the Darksaber which has a blade not dissimilar to a cutlass. The concept still sounds stupid, but the blade shape is hardly the problem with it.
Last I checked, the galaxy at large calls anyone who uses the Force as a jedi, often derisively. The average joe often can't tell the difference between Sith and Jedi because many Sith used to be prominent jedi.
Maybe it would make sense, if the lightsaber was the key to start them in the first place, that would maybe make an ounce of sense. Still not visible in any of the various SW media so far... But just wow, when you think modern "writers" can't get any more brain dead, they surprise you once more.
How could you even do that and why would you do it? With lightsabers being non standard, you cannot use them as universal keys and what if you lose your lightsaber or something. Damaged in battle, etc? Too bad so sad? If you were going to lock the ship, why would you only lock out the weapons and not the whole ship to prevent theft? This doesn't make sense on any level.
It's Star Wars, it never made sense from the beginning. It's Science Fantasy for a reason. These idiots just run with it even harder than Lucas who tried to kind of make it make sense.
This feels like one of those things where it seemed REALLY cool on paper but then you actually thought about it for five minutes and it's actually nonsensical.
To be fair security protocols are only put in place after something stupid happened, so in episode 2 there was no "jedi ship" but after a few times were they lost ships by it being picked up by someone after left alone and the technology increasing to become more lethal using jedi techniques or whatever it would make sense new models would come with safety protocols like needing a identify to activate it.
The only issue is that this comic is High Repulic, hundreds of years before the movies. It only works if the "standard safety protocol" got dropped at some point.
How many times we have seen that overused writing cliche about the protagonist not being able to use their signature weapon because it gets broken, they lose it or they run out of ammo/energy?
they could have used kyber crystals as they are super rare and basically only the jedi have access to them its not that unreasonable when the jedi keep around a bunch of spare crystals if someone has their damaged or just wants a new one
In the prequels Jedi Starfighters did exist which while they could be flown by ordinary pilots they had the ability to enhance force abilities if the pilot happened to be force sensitive.
Light sabers don't have a standardized design and are unique to each Jedi. There's no way to make starfighters compatible.
I'm guessing it needs the light beam from it not the handle or hilt.
@j.k.4479 even if you assume that, both Kylo's and Dooku's saber hilts would get in the way.

It is a compartment were you put thr lightsaber, could be a square box, and what is recognized are the kaiber cristal's bio signature.

@@SethAbercromby there are points on the doors for padlocks, but from my understanding these are only really used when the vehicle is in storage.
If the Jedi had their weapon damaged or destroyed?
Add to that, they needed to escape quickly.
Well 'standard safety protocol' leaves the Jedi dead.

This is like if a P-51 Mustang required the pilot to insert his loaded M1911A1 into a slot before being allowed to use the main guns.
