This looks like what you would see if you were in a casino in the middle of the country far away from any sizeable body of water. I don't understand why Disney doesn't capitalize on the Gulf and Atlantic access right there.

Unfortunately the price of crab has gone up tremendously. We do a crab boil every Labor Day. We purchase a box of king crab from Costco every year. I think we started at $150ish. It was $200 in 2019, maybe $250 in May of this year, it is now $319
Cape May used to be a must do. So disappointing. The upcharge for crab legs is nuts. Thank you for this review. Won't be going back unless they make changes.

So glad I am a patreon member and heard the sneak peak on this review. I was able to change my reservation to the brown derby and enjoyed some amazing food for the same price!
My wife and I used to enjoy dining at Cape May during our Disney trips. We are from the New England area and thought this buffet was a great value. The crab legs were always a very good offering but now it being an add-on….roughly eight crabs legs for $30 extra…yeah, I’m good. We will not be dining at Cape May any longer.
We arrive on 10/3 to celebrate or 30th anniversary. That is where we stayed on our Honeymoon. We enjoyed a number of breakfasts then. So we will have breakfast on 10/4 and we are hoping for a great experience!
The parker house rolls are a specialty. They serve them at Ale and Compass at the Yacht Club. They are awesome with the 3 different spreads. I've ordered them to take to my room at the Yacht Club they are so good.
Love the DIS keep up the good work ! The Breakfast Buffet there was Great ! Idk now haven’t been back. The fruit was Amazing, idk if it came straight from Epcot? We never tried the dinner buffet. This review reminds me of The Garden Grove restaurant at the Swan. It was a buffet that was meh and then 1/2 way through they brought out this seafood plate. I was like I didn’t order lobster and the server was like it’s included. The lobster was rubbery the only thing edible was the shrimp. I thought what a waste! Just like your experience there.
I like Fiasco reviews, because they feel very honest and balanced - he's never unnecessarily mean about food, but also doesn't overpraise average food either! I stayed at Beach Club last year (just before the pandemic started) and we contemplated eating at Cape May Cafe... Glad we didn't now!
I wish this review came out 2 weeks ago. I went last week & was so disappointed. This used to be one of my favorites on property. The family style was horrible. We had to beg to get more & they brought smaller portions. I don’t want to pay that price and feel I have to beg for the food. I also went to O’Hana & they did not make you feel like that for their family style.
Please review the Three Bridges Bar and Grill at the Coronado Springs resort! My husband and I are looking to go there our first night, and it’s always looked really tasty! 😊

Thanks for the honest opinion! I used to love Cape May because I am a seafood nut and loved the opportunity to eat what I wanted and ONLY what I wanted. This sounds like another Chapek failure. It's actually sad how Disney is declining.
We had a really bad breakfast there about 3 weeks ago and it was so bad we cancelled our dinner there and second breakfast booking. Plus it was empty yet our table wasnt that clean ans our server took 15 minutes to come see us after we sat! Awful!!!
I often say what Fiasco says about meat/seafood when it’s poorly prepared: “it gave its life for that?” Edit note: most Disney desserts are a big fat fail. With a few notable exceptions
@@LARKXHIN The only ones I have ever really loved were the bread pudding (Ohana), Valrhona molten cake (Contempo), and the grapefruit cake (Derby). My husband didn't like the cake because he thought it was bitter, but it was at least a normal sized piece cake.
I agree about Disney desserts. They look pretty, but taste awful. I don’t like seafood, so I can’t comment on that. Maybe they should bring back Cape May breakfast

I’m going to the real Cape May NJ this week on vacation. Pete had me laughing on the floor. One question for Pete, you’re from a NJ shore town, did you always dislike seafood? Just curious, loved the “unpluggedness”.
Had no interest in seeing any reviews for this restaurant because I didn't really plan on ever eating there (I'm from NJ, I've been to the real Cape May)...so whoever it was that put "Cape Meh" in the thumbnail brought me here. Off to watch now!
OH, no. Another old fam favorite.....gone..... I don't like clams/mussels. My kids (picky eaters) loved being able to pick their own stuff. I , then loved yes the crab legs. and the crab legs were the only thing that justified that price of the buffet for the family. We;ll have to pass on this one on our next trip.
I ate here a few years ago and got food poisoning. I also know of someone that got food poisoning here as well a few years before me. I cannot recommend people run away fast enough.
If I’ve been out filming all day in the sun I’m not going to take my hat off at essentially a seafood cafeteria. I actually pack button up shirts and gel in my bag for nice restaurant reviews if I know they’re happening. My attire is spot on for the location.
Oh man, if that server is the same Jimmy who worked at The Wave 7-8 years ago, he is phenomenal. He was the first server I ever had that single-handedly elevated a meal. He was so good and we enjoyed our meal so much that our whole party of 9 decided to cancel our reservation for the following day and go back again. We requested Jimmy as a server again but were told he wasn't available and proceeded to have a very disappointing and mediocre meal.
Took your advice from the last review and changed our Via Napoli reservation to Trattoria. Glad we stayed away from this, but I’m also in the same boat of not being a seafood fan anyway… hope their breakfast is better because we do still have a reservation for that.

So when planning a visit to Cape May Cafe veer right and go to Tratorii Al Forno instead. Sadly, I've had lobster at Red Lobster that looked far better than this and from the reviews tasted much better too. (Was in a group and Not my restaurant choice) At Red Lobster! Wrap your head around that. 😂
I am a snow crab fanatic and that’s why Cape May is my fav restaurant at Disney. But I refuse to pay over $60 for it. Won’t be going again if that is the case. There are better places to go. Besides that, the review might be more helpful if ppl that are “seafood ppl” were reviewing it.
Sad to see a perennial favorite fall so badly. Besides the problems already mentioned, I understand that the wonderful calm chowder is no longer available - a big loss in my opinion!
Everyone has to wear masks walking in so you don’t get the same wiffs you would normally get. When your seated it definitely smells like seafood, but not at the level it did before. -fiasco

Went just last night but had not seen this review. Best thing was the beef and mashed potatoes. Clams and mussels were ok. Everything else was terrible. The fish was so fishy it was gross. For the price, I’d say just terrible. It was never like this, but it’s been at least 10 years since I’ve been to Cape May. Skip this restaurant for dinner. Breakfast we did a few months ago and that was good.
I've been screaming from the mountaintop both here and on DFB to avoid the "family-style dining" restaurants, *especially* the ones that were formally buffets. All this new style of dining is good for is to limit the amount and types of food that you will get, while not lowering the prices accordingly. And this place seems to be proof of that. Give the masses tons of bread, corn and frozen fish, and bank all of the extra money that they lost during the pandemic. People need to stop being such suckers to fall for this. Don't go back to these places until they are buffets again!

I live on Cape Cod. I do not eat seafood outside of New England. It is never good. Except maybe crab legs in Maryland!
Have you been to the Pacific west or Gulf of Mexico? Otherwise, you should try it.

You guys have to get over to Crystal Palace before it changes back to a buffet. Really good prime rib and pork chop. Love the salad there too.

The dessert makes me sad. They used to have a chocolate cake that was really good and my grandpa ate his and finished everyone else’s too lol.
Charging more for the crab legs, compared to the all you can eat in the past, is a no brainer I would not spend the money there.

So disappointing. This used to be one of our favorites. I can’t believe how unappetizing the food looks.

Also.. i HATE Disneys dessert plates. Its just never good. The most amazing meal at Crystal Palace was also spoiled by a plate of total cra*

I think overall Disney’s food is bad, especially for the price.
Went just last night but had not seen this review. Best thing was the beef and mashed potatoes. Clams and mussels were ok. Everything else was terrible. The fish was so fishy it was gross. For the price, I’d say just terrible. It was never like this, but it’s been at least 10 years since I’ve been to Cape May. Skip this restaurant for dinner. Breakfast we did a few months ago and that was good.
I've been screaming from the mountaintop both here and on DFB to avoid the "family-style dining" restaurants, *especially* the ones that were formally buffets. All this new style of dining is good for is to limit the amount and types of food that you will get, while not lowering the prices accordingly.
And this place seems to be proof of that. Give the masses tons of bread, corn and frozen fish, and bank all of the extra money that they lost during the pandemic. People need to stop being such suckers to fall for this. Don't go back to these places until they are buffets again!
Those chicken drumsticks on the Turf platter are some of the most disgusting, unappetizing things I have ever seen!
