    Brett, a fine addition to your fleet. The front end of the early XJ6s with the low bumper always stand out from the later ones, having the early cam covers with Jaguar machined with the ribbing are cool too.

    Always exciting when a new Jag comes in. Somehow, the older they be, the more exciting they are - even though my favourites are the Series 3 examples. This new Mr White is in vgc, considering it's a cheapo Series 1.

    Nice find! I have a 72 XJ6 S1 as well . Love it. It was white when I bought it, but it's now dark blue. That A/C is not factory. You have a nice project there. Have fun. Cheers.

    There was no badging on the first of the XJs as everyone was supposed to be able to identify it as a Jag from its superb styling. Love the SWB models, especially the S2.

      Definitely true. Look at original press release photos of them in the day, they never had the word Jaguar anywhere on the exterior. I just noticed the other day though when looking at my 72 S1's boot that the wings added either side of the lock were added to recreate the old winged Jaguar logo

      In UK sadly soon All Gas cars will be illegal too

    • @wayinfront1
      @wayinfront1 3 месяца назад

      @@Haffschlappe No they will NOT. It's only new petrol and diesel cars that are supposed to be illegal from 2035. But they've already pushed the date back once (from 2030) and doubtless will have to do so again, because it's unworkable. Sales of EVs are falling sharply amongst private buyers. In any case, classic cars are not affected at all.

    Had one of these in the same colour when I was 19 (now 74.) Miss it like hell. You mentioned Doctor Jag has retired in a previous video. Where is the next best place to take a jag for repair in the Sydney region. Cheers, Steve. (Live your videos.)

    Bought a S1 SWB 6, back in the early 80's, and bought a burnt out XJS V12 had turbo 400, stripped the S1 to a shell fixed all the rust, rebuilt the front and rear end fitted early V12 carbs/manifolds , coolant pipes etc, put it all in .... long story

    You done good Brett. It has gone to the right person to give it a new lease of life. Reckon that AC is going to be more trouble than it’s worth. Shame someone saved money with the reupholster in vinyl.

    I love the series 1 XJ6. I had one in the 70's but I lost interest with series 3 after they played around with the original design. Fell in love with the X300 and so I got back in the seat with one 7 years ago and never looked back. I use a very low milage 2006 2.1ltr FWD X type as a run around, but not impressed with the V6. A 2.5ltr 4 cylinder would have been a much better engine in that car. Loved the designs of the old Jags but could not go for a modern one. The Jags I loved were never just about the name, but about their originality and their artistic designs.

    The 1972 didn’t have a Jaguar sign on the boot. Just the 4.2 litre on the right.

    hozit TJM, i recently stumbled across your channel and enjoy it a lot!! What is you opinion on a 69 S1 2.8 manual? one has come in the market, South-Africa, and i`m considering a closer look at it.

    • @tjmthejagmandownunder
      @tjmthejagmandownunder  3 месяца назад +1

      I'm glad to have you on board
      While the manual is a big plus, the 2.8 is a negative, too slow, plus they had issues.
      Look for a good 4.2!

  • @marknelson5929

    SHE LOOKS TERRIFIC, well done. But am concerned about the rust, even if tiny! round front and rear screens. To do the car justice the screens will have to come out as you know - you can't de-rust with the screen, glass and rubbers in place.

    • @tjmthejagmandownunder
      @tjmthejagmandownunder  7 месяцев назад

      On these old style rubbers the rust has not penetrated to the screen so it should be ok. Yes removing the screen is the best option but not economical for this old girl. I will not go near a series 3 with rust around the screen, big job!
