abby had zero business being THAT attractive... she had NO right..
Yet people will call her disgusting, a man and ugly just because she has muscles, wears her hair up and isn’t a traditional lipstick wearing feminine woman. They’re completely tone deaf to the fact that Abby’s face and body are modelled after two real woman with real feelings. Or they’re not tone deaf and they know they’re commenting on real people’s looks. Which is worse.
Woman can have just as much muscle as men WITHOUT steroids, even if they have to work harder for it. That doesn’t immediately make them a man. Also saying that makes her ugly is somehow just as sexist to men as it is to woman because it’s saying if you look masculine you look hideous. Lastly - she’s a soldier! Of course she’s going to wear her hair up for safety/survival. Why do people think Ellie’s hair is always either up or short? Same reasoning

@@usuhsdhshhzbshs4249 not all games need a continuation from a previous storyline. Left 4 Dead 2's storyline had nothing to do with the first L4D (except for the passing) yet no one's questioning it. To me, Abby would be a fresh perspective, and leaving Ellie and Joel's story as an open ended ending was honestly PERFECT (even if it dove into this sequel's storyline or if it didn't.)

I don’t think it’s so much her killing Joel as much as it is how she did it. She tortured him and then beat his brains in while Ellie was crying. It was just cruel the way she did it. She could have just shot him when she first had the chance.
@@basketcas3717 Joel killed a bunch of firefly soldiers who were all fighting and working their hardest to bring a cure to several other parents who’s own children were infected and soon to die, and not only that but to Abby, her own father died trying to save thousands of not the future of the human race, a fate he didn’t deserve.
Frankly anybody who would actually be in Abby’s shoes knows you do not just let an asshole like that off with a bullet to the head, he has to suffer for the many innocent people he killed including the ones deprived of a cure and her own dad, Ellie stumbling upon them just happened to be bad timing unfortunately, and even then she was graceful and kind enough to spare her and Tommy when she knew they had nothing to do with it.
@@basketcas3717 That's ONE of the main reasons, it's because she barely had any time to develop as a character and she appeared right out of nowhere, not to mention how she exists solely because Joel killed an NPC Doctor... If at the first game that said Doctor was an actual cast, and if they had better time introducing Abby as a character in Part 2 then maybe the hate wouldn't be as heat as it is now.
I don't hate Abby. In fact i liked her when i get to see her perspective.
Loved the part where Lev and Abby are up high crossing the bridge and Abby is scared out of her mind and lev questions her about Owen and Abby screams OH MY GOD, LEV NOW? JUST GO Lmao

He sure had his reasons (and I even agree with these), but in the end what Abby did is the exact same thing Ellie does in Part II.
That is one of the many reasons she spares her at the end of the game.

@@steveconvertibles3352 the world was already doomed, you seriously can’t say that abbys dad is the only person who is even capable of making a vaccine. if that’s the case, it’s bad writing. not only that but all joel wanted was ellie, it’s jerry’s own fault he died, since he pointed a scalpel at joel like a dumbass. if i was him i would let him take ellie and surrender. a vaccine wouldn’t do anything either, yes it helps with spores and not getting infected but you can’t mass produce it over 7 continents. the fireflies are selfish assholes who would have used the vaccine for themselves if it was even produced (which would make no sense considering they’re in an apocalypse, and we can’t even make one in the current world with our current technology). i understand why abby killed joel but the thing is, i don’t care. i don’t care about her or her dad or about the fireflies.

I love all the more light-hearted and chuckle-inducing moments in games like The Last of Us. Abby's gameplay sections have a lot of funny bits, especially with Owen...and Lev just being overall precious!

I always see you comment on Abby edits or Abby stuff and I always see you and think: "wow you're really obsessed with her and always defending her" I kinda like that because she gets so much hate and there's a person that always defends her and it's you and I like that you always stand up to the haters because they don't understand abby at all. Young Abby is so adorable!
Having a fear of height myself I could relate so much to Abby during the skybridge segment.
I started off hating abby, but by the end she became one of my favorite characters besides arthur morgan and the deep rock dwarves

Edit: The "Oh my God, Lev! Now?" part killed me
She is intriguing and actually a cool character, just her as someone you can play, I really like her and the relationships she has with people, so as her wit, but what she did to Joel, I will not forget. Like, I get it, he killed her father unknowingly it was someone dear to her, and possibly doomed millions of other lives as a result, but murder is never the answer. She gained a lot of respect from me when she willingly acted as a mother figure and sacrificed what she had as a WLF member to protect someone who had lost what THEY once had. Lev had his sister and lost her, so Abby took matters into her own hands and literally betrayed what she was always loyal to. Not the mention the fact that she risked her life and took on her fears (she didn’t exactly know she’d have to cross an unstable bridge made of WOOD and gaps) to save Yara. At the end, she didn’t even try to take advantage of Ellie releasing her and dicking her over again, but told her that there’s another boat where she was heading with Lev, but to be fair, she was pretty messed up physically, so maybe if she was fine she would do something. But you can’t ignore the fact that Joel saved her back at Jackson’s. She should’ve let him live. Though, no matter how much you love Joel, it’s gonna be hard to ignore the fact that he wasn’t a good man, he just isn’t. After the outbreak and when he lost his daughter, he lost himself; he lost who he was as an actual person, so he did horrible things, but we loved him because of how humble he is and the experiences he went through, and mainly his “father and daughter” relationship with Ellie, and him trying to bond with her, so his dark past kinda fades from our memory. All in all, I really like Abby, but her as a person and her motives, she’s a disgrace.
I rly like this comment, tho I think that abby is as disgraceful as ellie or joel itself. They are all humans, put into a situation were they have to make difficult decisions.
I love the parallels: abby and ellie killed many people for the same reasons, and both of them spared each others.
I agree with everything you said but if everyone would stop "picking sides" as if they have to and just play the game and live it through both girls eyes they would see that they both did what they thought was right but I get it Ellie and Joel have an unfair advantage because we're naturally more emotionally attached to them because they have a whole game over Abby but choices have consequences and Joel made a lot choices that crossed a lot of people and as he told Ellie if he had to he'd do it all again that's why Joel accepted that he was about to die when he told Abby "just get it over with" he knew he had crossed someone and it was time to pay the consequences of that
i agree but i feel like its unfair to pin abby specifically down as a disgrace when joel and ellie also did horrible things
@@ajtxx974 Gamers unfairly hating Naughty Dog because of their disappointment over Joel's fate is not unlike Ellie killing because of her grief over Joel. The game's not about judging the morality of the characters, it's about learning the importance of living with grief and disappointment in a non-destructive way IMO. Kinda think that went over some players' heads.
@@ace625 i completely agree with everything you said esp about gamers hating naughty dog. i feel like gamers as a whole just do not know how to not idolize morally grey characters and not turn them into heroes. i liked joel too of course but the truth is he had it coming and he got what he deserved. and ellie not killing abby is a better ending than if she had because at that point, before tommy arrived at the farm to tell her about santa barbara, i dont think she was thinking of going out again and killing abby. when shes arguing with dina, she doesnt say i have to do this for joel or its not fair that abby gets to live, she mentions how her ptsd is ruining her life. she only goes out to kill abby again because she thinks it will fix her ptsd. nathan zed explains this rly well in his tlous2 video.

Abby only killed the one person she had to kill. She left Tommy and Ellie alive because she had absolutely no issues with them. Ellie, however, went on a mass murder spree to kill anyone and everyone related to Abby. She ultimately became WORSE then Abby throughout the game.

Here’s an ending that should have been:

I’m sure you miss your dad. Well, I miss mine. But here’s how we’re different. You probably didn’t end up reliving it every time you heard a loud noise. You probably weren’t screaming in a baby’s face when you relived it. If you want any hope for that boy with you, if you don’t want him to end up like us, you’re gonna teach him better than we were. That we’ve done a lot to get where we are. But we don’t regret it, and we don’t want them to get trapped in a freaking cycle of death.
Be someone worth enough to him. Because now, I’m ending it. It’s up to you too. Now, I’m giving you the chance to end it. When that (Lev) boy loses you, you need him to know that it’s just the crazy world we live in and your time should have been long ago. Like Joel’s. He deserves what Joel was to me. Looks like you’re his. Be someone worthy of him, someone worth letting go when all the sacrifices and selfish choices you’ve made catch up with you. So he can appreciate them but move on. So he doesn’t have to be us.
Just go. Just... take him. And when you do something selfish for him because you love him... I want you to realize what that means. I want you to remember what that feels like. You’re gonna learn that sacrifice isn’t always noble because you say it’s ok. And to feel what it’s like to lose everything but one thing, like Joel... like me... and decide that you wanna hold onto that one thing you have left.
It would’ve been cool if they did talk in the end. Great character development

Earlier when I first saw Abby for killing Joel, I thought I was going to hate and kill her. But after Abby’s father death, I didn’t realize her pain and the revealed why. Now moments later, now I start to like her. Ellie and Abby have similar ways and I wonder in part 3 of The Last of Us if they reunite and become friends, well it doesn’t say yet. I wonder if they’re other video games like Abby and Ellie become enemies to friends and stuff. If you guys know any similar video games
