Ash is a character I really just can't get the flak for most of the time tbh, dudes a genuinely kind and pure soul and a total best friend. Like sure he misses the mark on a lot of things but he's willing to learn and get better even if he loses, the determination he has is honestly astounding.

This may be a hot take but i think making Ash a dumb character makes him more enjoyable. He can be annoyingly dumb sometimes but he's like Goku. He has dumb moments but has also become better as a trainer without losing what made him a good character

To be honest, even though i think the XY ash the best, since this show targets kids, maybe journeys ash might be the best choice.
