I used to own this game (long ago) and clearly remember doing a 100% race, winning it with all the rules on and when the classification came up it said I came last.... I could of cried!!! So soon after I got rid of it and never play it again 😆. This game lacks a decent HUD in comparison with the PS1 version. Like you say a lot of fogging without clarity on the bodywork of the cars and scenery. Needed more of a paint pallet! Good video Dave. Also liked that you picked Williams in tribute to Alex Zanardi. Hope he pulls through and has another miracle, such a nice man.
Hi mate yeah, I heard about Alex and was just getting ready to think about recording so it seemed a logical choice and it was a nice livery. Wow, I am glad it scored me then or I would have cried too haha. Yeah it is so bad on your thumbs this game there is about 3 controller settings but none of them let you use the right stick and that's a bit silly really.
Might want to extend that break from 2 to 5 minutes in future. I always thought that Williams looked fantastic in that livery but I can understand Frank no longer wanting any shade of red on his cars after that (seems like he got his wish again this year).

I tried Dial A Thumb. com but they said I wasn't covered for self-inflicted injury hehe and yeah the thumb still hurts haha and yeah I have no idea why its the 1999 season maybe trying to save money.
It was realised at the beginning of 2001, before the cars and season in general had been released, so it isn’t quite as out of date as it seems… but yes, they chose the 1999 season because it was cheap to port, and they needed that sweet ps2 cash grab injection😂😂
Well I've got to be honest I can't say I've even heard or seen this game. Certainly not one in my collection, surprising it was a 1999 grid released in 2001.... Bizarre but there you go. 😂
Yeah, it was bizarre Josh but they made it for the PS1 so maybe they just thought let's just use the licence again even though it's 2001 haha. Or maybe as this was an early PS2 game it took their small studio a long time to make. well, that studio is now the biggest in the Ubisoft brand but they didn't get there with this haha.
It was multi-format there is a PSONE version and I think they did a Saturn or Dreamcast version the trouble is the code is just emulated for each platform and the end result is always bad.
circuit intro is appalling, but good try from the probably chinese narrator. widest la source ever. Motogp4 also had that stupid x pressure bs, and a blue meter on the bottom I remember thinking my controller was broken, to top it all off the ps2 controller had no pcb inside so you ended up mashing almost inside the controler against the soft keyboard style membrane.
Yeah it was bad almost like they just gave him a piece of paper and said read this haha. I noticed one of the corner names he didnt even attempt to read out hehe. Yeah it was rubbish that whole X button thing it hurts your thumb so much its unreal and yeah it was still just on and off.

That intro 💙 i love how you know all of these drivers your f1 experience is on point! I only really know the drivers from 2009 onwards.
