Steel Bridge in Portland reopens after union Pacific freight train derailment

- The Steel Bridge reopened just before 11 a.m. after a Union Pacific freight train derailed Monday morning. Five cars that were empty derailed, according to Union Pacific. No one was injured. It's currently unclear what caused the derailment.

Stringline derailment. Those yellow centerbeam cars extremely light and if placed between a heavy train taking a curve will cause a derailment unless loaded.
Exactly, it's always those empty centerbean cars that are involved. The rail line needs to come up with better procedures when moving those. They need to be at the back end of the consit and like you say not between other heavier cars or the locomotive.

I was passing by, it sounds like the whole bridge was going come down, we got out there.... A few hours later we learned the train derailed. That goodness the trail derailed on part where there no housing and apt around.

We live in apt near Natio trains are a total nightmare all hours day, half the time they are either stopped on tracks keeping us from getting home or they are going way to fast
