I had no clue what a commonplace book is until I joined the Planner community and discovered I’ve always had something like that and I just called it a reference book. I detest crinkly paper, so I’ve always used a bound journal with thicker paper or a travelers notebook. Packing lists, discount codes, professional license info, continuing education credits, wish lists, gift lists (to keep track so I don’t repeat 🤣), home appliance models, serial numbers….
It's funny how we all do something and then find out there's a special label for it haha. I've also done this (similar) forever but usually not in the same notebook. I'd intend to but lose it or just find a notebook I wanted to use instead.
I love this! I have been wanting to keep a commonplace book for a few years now. But every time I try, I over complicate it and don’t use it. Your method is so nice and simplified. I love the color coding and putting the index/table of contents in the back.
Glad it was helpful! I admit I haven't been using mine much but I realized it's because I never have it when I have something to write in it. I need to figure out a way to keep it with me but also not tote around a bunch of stuff to use with it.
I love my little A6 and use it for recording my transactions on the go in my budgeting. I like the idea of making it a commonplace book and will try that for 2025, as I have a dollar store note book I use now as a general/everyday/commonplace notebook. I was wondering, For your index, could you categorize it by your main topics/dot colours? To be able to find something related quickly. Great video!
That’s probably the best way for indexing: based on the categories she’s already color coded, which is genius. I’ve wanted to try a commonplace notebook but the fact that multiple things would be in it made me feel like it would be impossible to find what’s inside. But categories and indexing via them would be a great solution. 😊
I was thinking the same about the index. That seems it would be easier than looking through the entire index. Also, I couldn't do it just by alphabetizing since half the time I can't remember what I titled something...
Oh my gosh! I use the A5 Stalogy for my research journal! (I'm working on my masters in history). I never thought I would love how thin the pages are, but I LOVE it so much. I hope the A6 works well for you!
I have a masters in history! How fun. Seems like we have a lot in common. I am a McLaren fan and I love Lando and Oscar. I think Carlos will go to Mercedes for 2025. It seems like the logical choice. But I also kinda think he could move to Sauber when the Audi team takes over in 2026. His dad has a close relationshiop with Audi and with all the new regs in 2026, it might not be that much of a gamble then! Not sure but I bet Sainz will drive Merc for at least 2025.
What a small world! It would seem we definitely have a lot in common! (I also live in Texas) I actually have a few family members that love McLaren, I think a lot of it has to do with loving Lando as, and I agree, he's been an underdog for quite sometime, but I think he'll be one to watch! And I didn't realize that his dad had such a strong relationship with Audi... that makes me feel a lot better. My heart just broke for him when I found out he wouldn't be returning to Ferrari, but when Hamilton is up for grabs... what can you do? 😂@@KristanKremer
I did not think my love of planners & love of F1 would meet on one RUclips account. 😂 I have been watching F1 since the 80s. But now I can’t imagine watching with out being online.
Hahaha I love this. Sorry for the late reply, but I just got done watching the Sprint Qualifying in China and holy moly what a roller coaster. Hope your husband enjoyed it too!
Stalogys are really beautiful. I bought a 365 editors series A5 a while back for general journaling, notes, etc. Feels like it will take me years to get through it though, I'm now wondering if I should get an A6--super cute!
I am a sucker for tiny notebooks. Which is funny because I feel like the EC A5 notebooks are too small but obviously they're not. I guess for me it's either A6 or 7x9 lol.

Brilliant idea. I love that and I think I might cover what I've already done with some sticker paper and start over with that idea. Thank you!
My power sheets and habit workbook will be here Monday! I haven’t watched the video yet but I was excited because I just saw the email 😂
Hope you're enjoying your goodies! 🩵

Also, I'm curious as to who you root for in F1, personally I'm a Carlos Sainz fan. I just hope a team picks him up for the 2025 season :')

Yay for F1! Thanks for the ideas about a commonplace book.
My husband is downstairs watching qualifying for Australia and I’m upstairs watching you. 😂
