    Watching this dude install these steps made me grateful for the two items that I have in my toolbox. A credit card and a phone.

    This is one of the better instructional video's I seen while doing my research. Very helpful and answered some open questions I still had. Hard wire is the way to go - more difficult but will be worth it in the end. Will be purchasing and installing on my 2018 Mega

    Great video.
    I saw you struggle with the rivet at the beginning,
    I thought that was great to show because, as you know, NOTHING goes perfectly when installing things.
    Many "how to" videos skip the nitty gritty parts of the job and just show the clean, edited version and I find myself saying, "did the whole install really go that smoothly? Didn't they have trouble with this bolt or that plate, etc. "
    Seeing you have a little trouble along the way shows how installs REALLY go, with fumbles along the way being a normal part of the job.
    You're now my goto site for installation tutorials.
    Keep it up!

      +Rick K Thank you very much! We do try to edit out some of our struggle because if we didn't we would have several hour long install videos. However, we are still human and do have difficulties all the time with installations. We try to let the viewer know in the video of any struggles we had even if we did not show it in the video. We hope you enjoy our videos!

    Got these for my 2015 Ram 2500 mega. Can't wait to get these on! I ended up getting the plug and play. Beats ripping out the dash to get to the wires.

    great, but what about someone in a big medium duty or heavy duty truck. I blew out my knee but still want to drive my truck. It's 2 ft to the running board or if I removed the running board it's a 3 ft climb into my cab. I can't do it any longer because of my knee. So I'm out of work until . . .

    That amp under the dash is definitely a pita, had trouble finding that last screw.. im installing on a 2018 ram2500, so thanks very much for the video , i opt for a hardwire kit instead of the pnp because its not avaiable yet , plus I wanna keep the port open for something else. Perhaps a tuner.

    Soapy water provide good lubrication when it's wet, but when it dries there is no lubrication. Unlike using oil or grease as a lubricant, it never really dries and the bolts can come lose even if you use threadlocker. I used so pay water all the time for stubborn rubber exhaust hangers, slips off like nothing but when it dries it stays sturdy on its hanger. I hope I explained that we'll enough... I don't know if that's the exact reason that they recommended it but that's at least the reason I like to use it.

    OUTSTANDING AND VERY REALISTIC. I WOULD ORDER ONE , BUT CAN'T SEEM TO GET AMP TO UNDERSTAND THAT THERE ARE OTHER APPLICATIONS . FOR EXAMPLE THEY NEED TO MAKE ONE THAT WILL FIT THE NEW CHEVY COLORADO AND CMC CANYON PICK UP INSTEAD OF PLAYING GOLF.

    Why did you run the wires back into the cab? All those wires are under the fuse box in the engine compartment. Was very easy to just hook them up there

    • @thoroughbreddiesel
      @thoroughbreddiesel  7 лет назад

      The instructions had us run them into the cab to tap into individual door wires.

    Did you have to relocate the brake cable? I have installed a set before on a 2010 Ram. Now I have a 2016. Never done that before. Don't like the idea of messing with brake cables.

    Something that I didn't see in this video or other power step install videos, do you install additional rivets x 2 at the top of each linkage as a last step. My instructions show it and I've yet to do it. Didn't know if it was really necessary...

    • @thoroughbreddiesel
      @thoroughbreddiesel  9 лет назад

      ***** We actually went back and installed ours, it’s just important to make sure you put some paint on the holes that you drilled.

    I noticed that you didn't use the pop rivet that the instructions say to use on the top part of the Hanger, was that intentional? Is the pop rivet unnecessary? Great, insightful video.

    • @thoroughbreddiesel

      We did the pop rivet and I do not have an explanation as to why it did not make it into the video. We apologize for that.

    • @thoroughbreddiesel
      @thoroughbreddiesel  7 лет назад

      Sounds like you may have pierced a wire that you should not have. Go through the entire harness to find the compromised wire(s).

      Thoroughbred Diesel Thank you for replying. I have Uploaded a video showing what my truck does, when it is completely shut off. If you wouldn't mind taking a look at it i would gladly appreciate it. thanks in advance. i have checked all wire and connections and it appers that all of them are connected correctly.

    • @thoroughbreddiesel
      @thoroughbreddiesel  7 лет назад +1

      Only thing to do is to completely unhook all of the step wires and begin backtracking. If this happened when you installed the steps then it likely is related to the steps.
