This video is evergreen. The ways that disabled folks of color have been leading the charge for years and years without recognition or care. It is truly wild to me how much wisdom there is in these communities that the majority of society ignores. I have so much respect for Leah and the joy and fierceness with which she writes and shouts about the people she loves. Also, like someone else named, that moment in the Q&A with the racist question asker was so unacceptable and violent. I can only imagine the impact it had on Leah, and it was deeply unfair that she was made to carry that question alone. It makes me curious about how a space organized by disabled queers of color (as she so beautifully described in her reading) would have prevented that moment.
This video is amazing, Leah is incredible and it was so great to hear her speak and read out sections from their book after reading it and hear her voice say it the way it was meant to be heard. So good. Let down by that lady in the audience though, what the fuck was any of what she said, so racist :
The fact that you can see the shadow of the interpreter signing. This IS so special. I am crying.
I adore all of Leah’s work tremendously, thanks for the ongoing crip wisdom and crip joy.
i just watched this two times. thank you.
