LYRICS
In 1998, you bought a BC Rich
You were a master shredder from the jump
Blew them all away with the Ritalin kids
While I was shedding through my sophomore slump
You had so many chances to become a star
But you never really cared about that

You’ll be remembered for the thing you’re not

Are you melting face at the Bellagio
Whoa oh oh
Or are you teaching little kids how to rock ’n’ roll
Whoa oh oh
Did you get weighed-down by your heart of gold
‘Cos you really only cared about that
Wonder if you had a chance to sell your soul
Did you ever get your money back?
Did you ever kiss the devil?

my god I can't wait for the album I feel 14 again
KIERA HI OMG
aren't you the morgz girl lmfao
I actually am 14🤣
They're like the only mainstream band that still seems to make good music these days.
I forgot to turn off my livestream...😂 What won't these turbo vergins click on. Milk em for every dime.💵
I'm really sure this song is about Ryan Ross and/or the original Panic! 💞
I 100% agree
I honestly love this better than middle of a break up, but Viva Las vengeance is on my top
Agreed
facts
we love all the songs, we are devoted fans, no time to say no
@@thankuslay6766 you can be a devoted fan and not love all songs lol
Yea, middle of a break up is only good after listening to it a couple times
This song is a banger but it's also really kinda sad? The line "You’ll be remembered for the thing you’re not" really hits hard after the past couple of years.
stream it harder than ever
watch it again and again
this is a bop
Exactly🥲 At least it's good that Brendon chose to make references about it, he could've just put out happy songs and not talk about it at all
that's what Brendon does usually. Happy melody with sad deep lyrics about his life and his career. I can have fun like crazy while crying inside.
"We signed a record deal at seventeen
Hated by every local band
They said we never paid our dues, but what does that mean
When money never changes hands"
It's so personal that i want to know the whole story behind
This whole album is based on his growing up in Vegas, so I think we’ll here a lot of it!
Mmm... Another Las Vegas band named "the K***ers maybe? Read about them and what the singer said about P!ATD and FOB... Maybe I'm wrong... Or not 😏
@@Nataly080186 Lol P!ATD came out later than The Killers, but I definitely wouldn’t put it past them. They had beef with The Bravery when they came out at the same time and accused them of stealing their sound 🙄
I mean, Panic got signed by Pete Wentz' label before they ever played a show. Like, that's a pretty big deal and I can see how that gave a lot of people in the scene room to be very jealous.
@@DJHuntryss Oh I can definitely see it, but rock history is FILLED with stars who hit it big without “paying their dues.”
Been listening to Panic since forever ago and I'm at the point where I find Brendon's voice as one of my happy places. So far the 3 songs of their new album give throwbacks to their early days' music, feels like i'm reunited with an old friend
Same here, dude 😍♥️
Some parts of the song give my Pretty. Odd. vibes, but his voice is completely different compared to their beginnings.
@@solaria85 somehow it gives me a new perspective vibe SO MUCH
stream it harder 24/7

Still waiting for that banger, viva has been the best so far. Started with a bang and im just waiting for that sound again. Cant wait to see him in October for my 2nd time though. Never disappoints with set lists and his live performances.
i agree! looking forward to my third time in september
same i’m seeing them in october! hoping to see some better songs from this album that i can belt out at the concert
So far all of the singles for this album have been disappointing, but yeah, he is great live.
VLV will be the last Panic's album
Brendon will announce his farewell in December 2023
@@Alex-eo7my not to me
I really like how personal this album is. Thank you Brendon for sharing all your stories from Las Vegas. I love every single song so far and am super excited for the rest!!

My ranking of the 3 songs of this album so far :
1. Viva Las Vengeance
2. Local God
3. Middle of a Breakup
I still have High Hopes that the album will be amazing
(Edit : I WAS NOT EXPECTING THIS MANY LIKES ON A PANIC SONG BUT THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH)
Bro me too im waiting for that banger something that hopefully tops viva, im trying not to judge too harshly since its been a while
Same! I'm waiting for a one song on this album to make me jam out to and play on repeat.
@@darkesthopes4876 The 3 songs so far off this album are better than anything since about 2011/2012 " Death of a bachelor " "Say amen " "high Hopes" "dancings not a crime" era stuff was garbage music made for iphone commercials
@@joshuafult84 Death of a Bachelor is one of his best songs ever, imo.
@@Thiscat41 Can't hate on you liking it it's cool. I just can't stand the 2016 and 2018 albums from Panic! Those albums sound over produced and safe. I like that he's experimenting and making it more stripped down from what this album has shown so far.

@@levymoment yeah I mean he makes them sound so easy - they’re clean, controlled..

I’m so relieved that I actually think I love this song, middle of a breakup started to make me question the album but I’m really starting ti get excited!
That key change in between the verse and the chorus is a little jarring to me, since it's typical to raise higher rather than dip lower (example: Viva Las Vengeance) but it works surprisingly well!

August 19th cannot get here soon enough! Going to three, maybe four shows! I NEED THIS!
Loving this, so excited for the album!
Brendon's voice is the best is so lovely 🖤
Absolutely loving the vibe of this album so far😍❤️❤️
I think this is my fave of the three! Breakup was a little too pop for me, viva was a banger but this is more mellow which is very much my vibe :D so wish I could see the tour again, 2019 was amazing
I went to see them in 2019 too, best concert I've ever been to!
Lots of people: This isn't what we're used to.
A Fever You Can't Sweat Out: Scene, Pop punk, emo, baroque pop, electronica, dance-punk, alternative rock
Pretty. Odd.: Psychedelic pop, psychedelic rock, baroque pop, pop, pop rock, folk rock
Vices and Virtues: Pop rock, pop punk, alternative rock, emo-pop, baroque pop, synth-pop
Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die!: Pop, pop rock, synth-pop, electropop, dance-pop, alternative rock
Death of a Bachelor: Pop rock, pop, rock, jazz, alternative rock, power pop, R&B
Pray for the Wicked: Pop, electro-pop, alternative rock
Viva Las Vengeance: Pop rock, glam rock, power pop, rock and roll
Me: What the fuck did you get 'used to'?
Legit, every album has been so unique, they're like siblings, they have a lot of things in common, but they are each their own person.

Lots of people: this album sucks* and they're right it does. And don't cite your source as the Internet lol you're the equivalent of "just trust me bro"
@@jonnyboy2088 You’ve commented a LOTTTT, genuinely if you don’t like the song, or the album then simply move on? don’t listen to it? be an adult and go listen to something you enjoy then!
I’m loving this song! I will say, it’s hard to hear the vocals over the instruments at certain points in the song (mainly the bridge) but personally I can get over that, looking forward to August 19
Better than Middle of a Breakup, but Viva Las Vengeance remains the best single
I really enjoyed this one, keep it up Brendon and crew 👏
Panic songs always hit deep, thank you for sharing this Brendon and I hope you’re doing well. We love you💖🫶
A little late listening to this for the first time, but I like it. I think I might like this the best out of the three songs they’ve dropped so far. It’s a nice tone down, it sounds similar to the other songs, yet it stands out. I really like how personal this song sounds for the band. It also hits a personal note with me for a lot of reasons with the line and being remembered for something you’re not. I’m so excited for the next thing that will come out for the album and will be awaiting October to see them in Raleigh! 🖤 :)
OMG SAMEEE!!!
This song is my least favourite in my opinion, it just sounds weird and the lyrics don't work, but I'm glad others enjoy it :)
Same I just have to convince my parents first
This is sooo good, I can't wait to hear the whole album. And February can't come fast enough, I wanna see this show. 🤩 🥰

Brendon wrote this song about him growing up in Vegas, he mentions this at the concerts.
She wrote for Ryan Ross, this is the true history about him
hes a little fibber but thats okay
SUUUUCH A GOOD RECORD. IM LITERALLY TEARING UP. THE V & V + PO vibes are strong with this.
This is amazing! I can't wait for te album!
Brendon, your music saved me and even now it is my therapy. i will always listen to your music. i love you so much you inspire me to be a better person and to be more understanding. i am so happy for you and Sarah on your new life being parents. i will miss you deeply and the pain i feel right now, i know will subside. you are a part of my life and always will be. thank you for everything. thank you for showing me that people can make mistakes and grow as a person. thank you for being our friend, all of us Sinners we are a family and my love for you will never go away.

I love it! Great job Brendon
New album gives me good memories 🖤
IM SO EXCITED FOR THE ALBUM!!!!!!!
I can't wait for this album!!
This album is so good!
Brendon deserves so much more respect after writing these songs and this album, he's literally a lyrical genius and his songs all speak such powerful and deep stories, this is exactly why I love Panic! and Brendon
I agree!
Brendon doesn’t write most of his music and when he does, he only co wrote it
@@hallheyx3x350 what? he has a writing credit on all/almost all of panic songs, writing the entirely of Casual Affrair and The End of All Things. Don't know what you are getting at.
@@hallheyx3x350 I don't understand what you're talking about because almost every Panic! song since Brendon was the only member left had been mostly written by Brendon. Obviously if he asked someone for help with even a single lyric that person gets writing creds for lyrics. Brendon even said in Viva Las Vengeance "Someone did me wrong, stole my favorite song" which (to me) is a look back to when Spencer tried claiming he wrote more of This Is Gospel than Brendon, when Brendon wrote about 90% of that song lyrically. In terms of the instrumentals, melodies, etc, of course Brendon isn't 100% responsible, that of course is the band, hence having a band. I'm not sure what you mean by he doesn't write his own music. He's proven time and time again what he's capable of lyrically, instrumentally, just overall musically.
He’s amazing musically/lyrically and in general. I wish more people respected him. I get so frustrated by the dumb people online who think he’s something he’s definitely not. Hopefully this album helps change their perspective
Love the 3 that have come out so far everyone is saying viva is their fave but I like middle of a breakup best so far!!
CAN'T WAIT FOR THE ALBUM TO BE RELEASED!!!!!
This is so personal and beautiful!!!
I like this one💗
I've had this song on repeat literally all day long. Local God is hands down the strongest of the three songs released thus far from the new album! Cant wait for the rest!
My favorite one so far really surf rock and classic vibes
Omg I love it so much!! The best surprise when getting off work 💙💙💙
There is absolutely nobody that can convince me that at least part of this song isn't about Ryan
Perfect 😍😍😍❤️
i can say , this is my fav track of this album
I love the songs of this album
Ok so I need you to imagine he sang this in the same register and intensity as Trade Mistakes/any Vices song, or even Dying In LA, and tell me that this wouldn't be one hell of an amazing song. The instrumentation is there. The production is there. The lyrics are there. The vocal delivery is not, and is the same excuse to needlessly belt falsettos that every song in this album seems like its going to have. Its far too evident from past tour performances where he would find any opportunity to do needless vocal cord shredding, that he is writing these songs around being able to do that 24/7. No longer having to force high register ad libs because they are literally entire songs now.
This is exactly my thoughts. The potential for the song is there for me, I just don't understand why he's maxing out his range on every single track. I feel like the way he sang for majority of his career was so much more enjoyable. And probably more sustainable, I don't know how he's gonna do this on tour night after night with an album like this.
Exactly! The music itself isn't terrible, but the vocal performance instantly grates on me. You're right that now he can belt like this he feels the need to show off and do it all the time, when before he trained his voice so much in his earlier albums the vocals were lovely. Really disappointing.
Not trying to mischaracterize your point or say your opinion is invalid, but here's the feeling it gives me:
Wow, I never thought it was possible to be criticized for being TOO good.
That's pretty much all I have to say. But if you want to read more about my thoughts, then read on.
I mean, the guy is a great singer. He can sing high or low or in between and has a beautiful timbre to his voice which has remained strong and healthy since 2005, which is really saying something for someone who must sing as much as he does.
It's like you finally achieve the thing you've always wanted to do... Sing incredibly high for a guy, and now instead of people being like "yes, you did it!" people are like "okay, you don't have to do it all the time. Now I'm annoyed". Doesn't matter that his intonation and vocal quality is practically perfect, here. Just matters that he's singing high a lot and for some reason, you don't like that.
I get it, music is opinions, but you know, sometimes it just hurts to hear a guy get slagged for being essentially too good at what he wants to do.
All love and respect, just think if the guy wants to sing high and has a GREAT voice to do so, then give him a break, let him sing high. It's like telling Da Vinci not every painting has to be so ornate, or telling Picasso not every painting has to be so abstract; it's just like missing the whole point of them doing what they are good at and/or have practiced so long and hard to be good at. It's disrespecting the whole achievement in my opinion and instead stripping it all back to your opinion and for some reason demeaning someone for being TOO good at their art -
Anyway, that's my take, doesn't have to be yours, but I say if the guy has got a great voice, let him use it in peace. No need to be annoyed with someone using their great voice. Just enjoy the music. Don't you wish you could sing like that? :) I know I sure do.
All the best.
@@emotionalrelation997 I feel the need to touch on all of the instances where you said something in the ballpark of "being criticized for being too good". I genuinely wish he was. I for one, personally, would prefer Brendon to be doing his thing for the next many decades. And I still hold on to the hope that the last half of this album will blow me away, having grown up listening to every album the moment it was released.
However, the reality of the situation is that if he keeps up what he is doing now, he won't have a voice by the end of this current one. He does not have the control of his voice required to do this safely, he is straining constantly. He could get away with what he is currently doing with decent breaks, maybe, but he will eventually tour this album and he won't get that chance. Past tours also are indicative that he simply does not care. This "voice which has remained strong and healthy since 2005" is currently being put through a woodchipper and only remained that strong because he wasn't doing this until 5 years back. I truly believe with some coaching he would have zero issues, the guy is talented, but if the last 9 or so years have shown us anything its that Brandon has a pretty strong pride streak in him, which makes me doubtful that it is even remotely in the cards.
As for the rest of your reply, in short, yes, my preference is for an album to have literally any variance between tracks and vocal performance. It is not interesting to listen to the same thing rehashed for 10 tracks. This band had its roots in the genre that was supposed to be the antithesis of mass produced same-y sounding music, yet here we are. And yes I also prefer pre-existing music to not be butchered for self gratification at the expense of the song.
woah
Absolutely amazing

Absolutely in love with this song
This has such nice vibes
I was hoping to hear some different sounds from the album. Theses all feel very similar and makes them all feel very mid. I liked Viva las Vengeance when it dropped but these last 2 feel like they were trying to be that song idk, hoping for some dark horses on the album
Same
I Just cant believe that this was all Brendon was able to deliver.
I mean it's just 3 singles - they always sound similar for Panic! albums, so I do expect some more different songs on the record. But honestly I do like this and VLV so I'm not too mad if they're continuing this style for the album.
Totally get what you mean might be like TWTLTRTD where four songs sounded similar, hoping for some tracks like DOAB where there was some pop and sadness seems mainly pop atm then again PFTW was like that only one song I believe was sad and that was dying in l.a.
Maybe Urie will use this album to go on a tour where he promotes his new album with live remixes of all these similar music but using his previous hits to get the audience rocking.
