Unfortunately duke is no longer at church street it's been moved to the florida railroad museum due to the construction of new platforms as church street will be a sunrail stop
Awesome video. Glad to see you railfanning someplace new. Living in North Florida I haven't been keeping up with the SunRail project, but do you know when FDOT is planning to purchase the A-Line for SunRail? Last I heard they weren't sure if they were even going through with it.
Danny, another magnificant production, you make railfanning and watching an art, as I said before I'm pretty sure CSX or one of those companies are watching your videos and getting ideas. I see you are in my other hangout spot, Orlando, you were at the Church St. Station, I was on the other end west @ Citrus Bowl (Florida Classic) a month before U filmed this, before thanksgiving. I'm going back to Jacksonville next month, I know it will be a fanning delight.
@kmothersil Oh, I see what you mean. That's what I was saying when I said I wasn't sure if FDOT was going through with it. They want SunRail, HSR, and Amtrak on FEC, yet they don't know how to finance it properly. Perhaps if they pursued one project at a time, it wouldn't be such a tax burden. If you haven't noticed, other states such California that want HSR already have sufficient Amtrak and commuter rail, hence they can build it quicker since there's nothing else needed.
@railfan23 No just Q235. Back in the day Q237 & Q214 ran the S line. Q214 shortly became Q282, but that job now goes on duty in Waycross. Q255 & Q258 ran the A line. I guess a couple months ago they started routing Q235 to Taft since Q455 was carrying so many Autoracks
Fantastic video Danny! Is Amtrak running the sleepers at the end again? I haven't been out lately. They just can't make up their minds! "We'll run 'em in the front. No the back! No the front! No the back!" LOL! As always, great videos!
you my friend no ofense pleae but this its your voice? i wast just watching the video of the homeles man whit a golden radio voice and its sounds a lot like yours , thumbs up video and favorite
@juvmol Well thanks! No, that's not me. If I had the homeless guy's voice, I would be driving a much bigger truck and live in a much newer house! :-)) DH
Hello Danny! I’m enjoying more of your videos which I haven’t seen yet. I hope you have a Blessed Thanksgiving today with your family and friends. God Bless!
@CSCtalent No, I think the rest of us noticed it too. Those AmBoxes run frequently on Florida trains. Not sure who the customer is down here though. DH
@jjbroadglide I think it was actually me, John. I went to hit REPLY to one of the comments and accidentally hit the THUMBS DOWN button. Oh well. Not everyone likes everything. :-)) DH
@Honestware Yes, that was mine. I inadvertently catch it in at least one shot on nearly every outing. This time because I parked it too close to the tracks. DH
Mr.Harmon, this video is at least 10 yrs old, great job. The last freight that went by i do believe it had a couple of ex-amtrak express package boxcars in its manifest, great catch.
@trainguy2020 Sunrail is going forward. Contracts for locomotives have already been let. Design work for stations is in progress. The next few years should be interesting. DH
Wow been watching your videos for a while now and this one open up in Kissimmee right along the very street and A line running parallel where I grew up as a kid, many hours spent watching trains. Love it.
Hey Danny Great Video keep them coming. Also great job narrating Reading Company 1949-1952 Volume 1 Passenger Service by Herron Rail Video!!!! Cant wait unitl volume 2 Freight Service comes out, its going to be great!!!
Excellent video Danny, Enjoyed seeing what Orlando brings. Still curious if you found anything on your way home from winterwatch on the Dunnellon line?
@soulfultenor The 441 line you mentioned connects to the A-line near the old Orlando Arena in the area of Robinson, Hughey & Garland. It continues north thru Plymouth (where the Florida Central Railroad has its HQ and the train at 1:45 in the video), and keeps on going rounding thru Tavares where there is a segment of street running, and continues into Mt. Dora. There was a dinner train there for a while. The route goes east but ends near a paved over crossing on SR 46.
the steam engine duke is now at the florida railroad museum in parrish and the state of florida is gona restore it for sunrail commuter service since sunrail is gona be stopping at church street station
I lived in Orlando area for four years. Brought back memories. I use to go to Winter Park, FL Train station just hand in there for hours. You have a great park and shopping area.
I've got some bad and good news. Bad news is the steam engine and cars there are no longer there anymore. Good news is that they will be at another museum, but it will be some time before I get use to not seeing it anymore. :(
Thanks again for visiting my home base! Next time you venture to O-town, you should give us advance warning so we can come bearing $20s to buy some of your DVDs!
@ElKabong75, Oooooh Ok, I always see that line when I come down there, and wondered where it went, I didn't know if it connected to the A line that runs through Tally, I know the A line paralles US 90 on through Pensacola. I live in the fork of the GF&A line, on the westside of Tally.
Danny, I was just in Orlando, for the 4th I was downtown @ lake Eola, I did see the Church St. Station and Duke of coarse, what is the line the paralles US 441 N ? this is the route I take when I travel down there. Also there is a line that used to run with 27 south through Perry, FL.
You mentioned the local that switches Poinciana but did you know that Amtrak once had a facility there? On the NE corner of S. Poinciana Blvd and the former CSX mainline was a brand new facility built to serve the Amtrak Louisville run of the AutoTrain. It didn't last long in that service as too many cars were damaged on the way too or from Louisville. We walked up the old Tampa Highway a number of times to there from Intercession City. The Post Office there ( IC ) is near the tracks and prior to the mail service dropping the RPOs, was a mail drop and pickup on the fly location.
+Distant Signal They ran that in order not to interfere with the Lorton to Sanford run once they got setup. Amtrak's Floridian was the train that used Poinciana also and AT and the Floridian were often the same train from there to Louisville in 1975. www.timetables.org/browse/?group=19750515a&st=0001 has the listing for Poinciana in it. S. Rail Ave is where you entered from. Kissimmee station was not used in 1974's Nov Amtrak schedule. Dec 12, 1975 Amtrak reopened the Kissimmee station and quit using the Poinciana joint facility. By the Feb 15, 1976 schedule, Amtrak was not even mentioning it. AT's operation of the Louisville section is what put AT into bankruptcy. They had a couple of serious derailments on the L&N part and AT shutdown in 1981. Amtrak revived the AT Sanford to Lorton run but never owned the Louisville run, just powered it as part of the Floridian. Google maps puts the old station location as 28.25978, -81.48422. Only thing left now is the pavement. It might get service there again as SunRail is going to go to Poinciana. The Floridian also used the AT facility at Louisville. My grandparents lived in Intercession City in the winter in a house my grandfather built. It still stands today, after more than 50 years. Kissimmee was also the limit that dad could go from Homestead without written permission from the Navy. So we would often head up there on a weekend in the winter.
Used to be 32 for the road, 54 for the dispatcher, 66 for switching and FCEN on 29. But now that FDOT owns the corridor, those channels have all changed.
wow a c40-8w with a k5hll!!!!! nice cacth!!!!!!!

5:08 Old Amtrak boxcar!!!
@mbta1000 Yes, I have plans to switch to HD in 2011. The SONY camera I want is $3900 so that will happen when funds become available.
Awesome video. Glad to see you railfanning someplace new. Living in North Florida I haven't been keeping up with the SunRail project, but do you know when FDOT is planning to purchase the A-Line for SunRail? Last I heard they weren't sure if they were even going through with it.
Another great video Danny. Brought back memories of our Orlando visit last year. Thanks and keep up the great work.

Another masterpiece, Danny. Really enjoyed it. All the best...

Love how you add the radio chatter in with your narration
@kmothersil Oh, I see what you mean. That's what I was saying when I said I wasn't sure if FDOT was going through with it. @ravenhawk6910 Yeah, those things are fairly common on 455 & 456. I don't know who gets 'em in the Orlando area, but I've seen them often.
DH
Hello Danny! I’m enjoying more of your videos which I haven’t seen yet. I hope you have a Blessed Thanksgiving today with your family and friends. God Bless!
@CSCtalent No, I think the rest of us noticed it too. Those AmBoxes run frequently on Florida trains. Not sure who the customer is down here though.
DH
Another excellent piece, Danny. Did I catch a rare *exterior* view of your Expedition parked under the bridge at Greenwood drive?
@jjbroadglide I think it was actually me, John. I went to hit REPLY to one of the comments and accidentally hit the THUMBS DOWN button. Oh well. Not everyone likes everything. :-))
DH
@Honestware Yes, that was mine. I inadvertently catch it in at least one shot on nearly every outing. This time because I parked it too close to the tracks.
DH
@kmothersil Well as long as this means CSX completely sticks to the S-Line I don't see how there could be many delays.

As usual, a big fat thumbs UPPPPPP! Nice job Danny. But what moron gave it a thumbs down? Don't they know excellence when they see it? And hear it?
Wow been watching your videos for a while now and this one open up in Kissimmee right along the very street and A line running parallel where I grew up as a kid, many hours spent watching trains. Love it.
@Jamersonde Yes! Would love to... but I would need a guide. I've never been there.
DH
@SFLRailFan Many thanks to you and everyone for the kind words. Glad you enjoy the work.
DH
@Canesfan7012 Thanks! Yeah, I always try to add in the radio when I have it.

My old home I lived not to far from where you were standing.

+gravelydon Never knew that one, Don. I thought Auto was always all in Sanford. I'll have to scope out Poinciana next time I'm up that way.

Awesome shots! Looked fun!

what channel do you use for the scanner in longwood?
Used to be 32 for the road, 54 for the dispatcher, 66 for switching and FCEN on 29. But now that FDOT owns the corridor, those channels have all changed.
Great video Danny
yea
