Seems like that was Gaster falling into the lava of the core and then scattered trough time and space. Maybe Gaster showed Spamton the truth by showing him this accident. And of course because it surely was horrible and painful just to watch, he got traumatized.
At first I was like, "why would spamton be here?" but you can fight spamton NEO BEFORE you go on this ride. And as he is an item (one that can only be equipped to Ralsei and the other making sense to put on Ralsei). And Kris keeping him around makes sense as Spamton's situation as being a puppet is something Kris sympathizes with.

Spamton did say he would be the "agh! Ah! Ow! It burns!" Guy so this comic makes sense. He said it with his going crazy part too. If you don't know (which I'm sure most of you probably do know this already) while talking to him in his shop spamton mentions how he and kris would soon ride around in acid and that he would become the "It burns! It burns!" Guy So this comic makes sense and gives a reason to why he's scared of the boat ride. It's the acid water
From what I know the comic is in reference to the theory that Spamton was a normal Addison before being burned in acid (probably sometime either just after or before the final phone call). Queen mentions that the acid would shrink someone, and Spamton says the whole "it burns" and "vacationing in burning acid" thing
I'm pretty sure he said "we will take a ride around town" which I think references the carts during the Spamton NEO fight since you can fight Spamton NEO before reaching the acid river

=( Poor Spammy. Dude was traumatized by what happened to him. He was doing so poorly in sales, got help from someone, became famous, lost his contact, his sales dropped. He must have gone into a spiral, as you would if you suddenly lost everything. Then he was either thrown in the acid river or jumped in. While he was slowly dying in terrible pain, something possessed him & now keeps him alive by sharing his body somewhat. He got kicked out on the street & is now homeless. His mind was broken up due to all that. I hope we get to interact with him more in the coming chapters & maybe offer him some hope or a better place to stay.

Technically Queen said the acid doesn't kill you, just shrinks you, which would explain why he's so short, and I mostly think he was thrown in the acid like Jevil was closed in a cage: after knowing Gaster he came to know it was all a game and went insane, so Queen just decided to get rid of him by first throwing him in the acid and then in the trash
If seeing anything such as a skin melting subtance is enough for this, i wonder if Spamton would feel at least uncomfortable at Rouxls's striking resemblance to gaster... (This comic depicts Gaster as the Mystery Man like the majority)
I see Spamton in the thumbnail, I click. This made me sad, although wrapping him up in Ralsei’s scarf was a great and adorable idea. I’m obsessed with his character, this was amazing.
I'm so upset there aren't more Spamton AUs like this. I just got to be patient, the man had been in public for like a month. Plenty of good comics came out a year (or years) after Undertale came out. Just gotta be patient. The community will work its magic. And I don't want to pressure the artist, they have lives beyond this stuff. I'm just hungry for more, you know? i present my SEARCH! AU (still working on it), where basically the yellow addison (the one u only can see after spamton neo fight) is looking for spamton and is becoming crazy about it. he finds him and things begin to go better (all this before kris coming to the cyber world) and, at the end, spamton neo, kris and friends and the addisons defeat queen and taking some revenge for throwing spamton into the acid lake. (just wanted to do a good ending to spamton because he fucking deserves it)
The acid represents the core. And the hand which is gasters but could be spamtons cause the acid water won't just shrink you. It could heavily damage you. So when spamton was taller awhile back he may have accidentally fell into the pit of acid and sort of shrank him. Then Gaster comes in to make Spamton feel happier, cause he sees himself in spamton. They both *fell* In the end spamton did feel happy until Gaster stopped talking to him which eventually ended with Spamton being in the dumps. And after the fight and going through the acid river section Spamton gets PTSD what if he falls in there again? Probably he would melt into a broken down blob like Gaster or worse die.
This makes me wonder if Gaster and Mike are seperate people yet both interacted with Spamton at different points, since if the acid theory ends up being true and that caused him to meet Gaster it would mean he didn't meet them until long after getting Mike's help. Maybe Spams started rambling like Jevil and that's what made Mike abandon him and break him completely?

This is the first serious Deltarune comic I've seen that isn't spouting about unconfirmed theories (especially annoying when they passive-aggressively assert themselves as correct for some reason) or trying to predict chapter 3/4 (one of the few things a really miss from the older Undertale community), so this is a massive breath of fresh air!

The “sexy man” people is a smaller community than the people who draw him as the gremlin he is, if you spend more than a few seconds on tumblr there are more artists drawing him as small and dirty, memey and funny than as the supposed “sexy man” thing.
It's my headcannon that Queen dumped Spamton into the acid and thats why he's so small compared to the the other addisons, I mean Queen literally says the acid makes people smaller so that they can fit in the houses, she doesn't say how, also explains his glitchyness

I'm guessing Spamton used to be as tall as the other Addison's, then fell into the acid when he moved into the queen's mansion, Because of his dialogue at the shop "It burns!", Queen also said about shrinking from acid, which means Spamton wasn't usually small but the contact with the acid did make him small
