@@AC130SS thanks so much! I enjoyed putting this one together though I missed my M lenses and using the rangefinder. But it was a fun experience and nice to mix it up a little. Thanks for commenting. J
Jamie, Another gem! And what an opportunity to channel your inner H. Cartier Bresson (if he was a staffer at Surfer Magazine). I have never tried anything longer than 135 on my M10-R. Looked like a great trip regardless of the rain. Great work! Cheers, Mark walkacrossitall on the web.
@@mjcatto thanks Mark. Appreciate your time in taking to both watch the video and to comment. Appreciate it. I mean 560 is a bit silly isn’t it! You don’t buy an M to shoot that kind of stuff. 135 is truly the limit and still compact enough and good fun. But for me… anything longer than 50mm and I lose a bit of interest when snapping. For video I love 85mm so it’s not the look but more the experience of using longer lenses with stills. Thanks for commenting. J
@@jamie.dop_ It's my pleasure. If you get the chance, give the 135 another go. As you well know, there are many different M-lenses. If you go out with just one lens, you get in the zone and always come home with a few keepers, just like the 560. As Forrest Gump said, life is like a box of chocolates.
@@johnhendry5660 Interesting. I am the opposite. Colour digital doest have any impact for me. Where as B&W does. Colour tones on film are amazing. Generally, I shoot 90% B&W so prefer in both. But yes, if I chose just one for colour it would be the opposite to you and I would go with analogue.
damn that picture of the woman walking down the ramp to surf is amazing. It looks like you don't edit your M11M photos much. Did you consider giving silver efex a shot? I prefer how the film photos here look, but I am able to match my hp5 pretty will to my leica monochrome with silver efex
Another awesome video Jamie! :) And this was really fun to watch, since, as you said, nobody would put such a lens on an M body :D But the shots you got out of it really look amazing. My favourite is the fisherman shot. Two quick questions: You mentioned in the beginning you like shooting film, but want to reserve the film shots for "special occasions", if I understand correctly. Do you simply go by gut feeling, if that moment is worth on film? I would like to do that too, but right now I always have the urge to finish a roll once I have started one :D The second question is more of a stupid one, but still out of curiousity :D If you pre focus with the M11 and this 560mm at for example a landscape / mountain (would not work for action or this case the surfing) and then quickly swap the M11 for the M6 - technically it would work, wouldn't it? :D Always a pleasure to watch your videos mate :)
@@IntrovertAmateur thanks as always. When shooting film I make the decision quite early normally, I understand where we may be, what we will be doing and if that’s something I would pull out in years to come and show my kids. I also don’t want anyone posing for the image or anything where they know it’s happening. I want to freeze the moment as if a camera wasn’t there. As for your second question, focus is so wide when shooting near infinity and when the focus point / subject is moving laterally across the frame so you could get away with not dealing in the focus but with a moving subject it would be incredibly tricky to frame through a rangefinder camera and shoot film. Believe me I thought about trying it many times but I would have missed the subject likely! Thanks again for taking the time to comment. J
@@GillesQuennevilleGQ thanks for the concern, when traveling on a budget you need a small tripod (ideally the correct baseplate!) and it was secure enough for me despite only using it for an hour in total over a few days. I managed to shoot some around 500 which was all good too and was only shooting that high as surfers were moving. But as I stated in the video… it would be nice to have a steady and strong set up. Just like it would be nice to own a Ferrari but a Ford will get you there too but won’t be as easy or enjoyable 95% of the time. Appreciate you taking the time to comment. J
The well in which you draw to get your inspiration/ideas for your vids… is rad.

Enjoyed the video Jamie, still feel the M6 is best for B&W. Keep up the good work. 🏴
@@johnhendry5660 thank you. Appreciate that. Can I ask… b&w better in M6 that M11M or better than using colour in M6?
@jamie.dop_ B&W in M6 definitely. Prefer colour using digital but that's just my preference.

Your tripod set up is not steady enough for this lens. Otherwise you have to shoot at 1000-1500 secs.
