I adore this game already. I only started playing 4 hours ago, and within the first 5 minutes I was completely hooked. I love the look, love the gameplay, love the story. I've already completed two dungeons, and plan to just take time to wander for a bit now.
There are so many little details that make the game so much better. Like how Wright and Lefte are always on their respective sides in conversations, or how the great fairy is a perfect blend of all of the other ones. The gear system was a great idea. And the returning monsters from across the series really make a difference in the overall feel of the world. This is genuinely one of my favorite Zelda games, right up there with Majora's Mask.
one of my favorite things about watching other peoples’ gameplay and reviews of this game for me is how some people came up with completely different solutions to a puzzle than i did, like for that puzzle about swimming up a water current i actually used an echo of one of those thwomp-like enemies
I beat the main story four days after release and I feel like this game is the absolute perfect blend of classic and innovative. There are so many aspects of classic Zelda games that I missed in BOTW and TOTK that come back here, but it never feels redundant or overused. Honestly might have overtaken Minnish Cap as my favorite 2D game!
I love how this game is a perfect merger of open world and linearity. You can go pretty much anywhere after the beginning tutorial section (sans a small blocked area on Mount Hebra), and doing so can prove very helpful, but the story itself is more linear in nature. Not perfectly linear, but linear enough that they did not have to cheapen the story (to allow players to trigger key events in multiple orders, such as with two of the main quests in Pokemon Scarlet/Violet). This is what I want from an open world game, and I'm glad to finally be able to enjoy this.
loved the game, the traditional dungeons, the art style, the music, the story, the lore, the charming everything. i really am looking forward to returning to a more open air style hyrule like TotK though, i truly love the mystery around every corner and the massive living breathing world of it all
Nothing could have prepared me for the joy I would feel upon entering each village and hearing completely new themes 🥹❤️ I LOVE new Zelda music. The new Kakariko Village theme motif that references the classic theme before looping, the way the Sea Zora theme sounds so reminiscent of the OoT Zora’s Domain. What a beautifully scored addition to the series.
This is a masterpiece of a game, with one big flaw: the echo menu. If it was set up in such a way that it wouldn't be such a chore to scroll through so much stuff to find what you need, it would be that much better. I know there's different sorting options, but I don't feel like that's enough when dealing with so many echoes.
What's funny is that I finished the game just today and you uploaded this video. Genuinely just a very fun game all around. Loved this adventure and how free form you could solve things.
Aside from having to use echoes constantly to fight enemies can be a bit tedious and repetitive, Echoes of Wisdom is a standard Zelda game nonetheless. I enjoy exploring Hyrule and finding the new secrets and collectibles it had to offer. I especially love the dungeons. While I did enjoy the Divine Beasts from BotW and the regional temples from TotK, I quickly came to realize how much I missed traditional dungeons as I made my way through the very first temple. I also love how, just like in TotK, there are multiple ways to complete dungeons and even explore the overworld that only adds to the enjoyment factor and made me so excited to progress through the story. While I finished the game yesterday and am going back to try and complete more side quests and find more collectbles, I am uncertain right now if this will end up becoming a Zelda game I'll look forward to replaying multiple times in the future. Perhaps it's a case of Echoes of Wisdom being so new and thus maybe time will tell where my attitude about this game will land.
This is the first Zelda game I've played that I really want to complete and I know that I can do that. All the zelda games I've played, there comes a point where I'm either lost what I need to do to proceed further or I'm underpowered enough that I can't proceed further.
I love how it's not only fun, but so satisfying in the adventure. Even before beating the game, I want to play it all over again! Definitely has risen to one of my favorite 2D Zelda games, maybe even beating Minish Cap (and that says a lot for me)!
I've been having so much fun with it!! It's only my 3rd Zelda game, as I started BOTW in 2021 😅 I haven't gotten too far into, as I like to explore literally every inch of my games lol
this game is so much fun!!! I adore the music, the dungeons were entertaining and it just made me feel like a kid again. Exploring this Hyrule has been so much fun, I can't wait to see all the theories and ideas the Zelda RUclipsrs come up with from this!
This game was a breath of fresh air after TotK for me. I hope we see more Zelda games directed by women. This was the kind of puzzle solving with a huge variety of solutions but still complex enough to make you think hard that I expect from my Zelda games. This had the touching story elements relating to the different peoples of Hyrule and meaningful and rewarding side quests. Exploration was always possible if you could think of a way to do it and so much fun to revisit a familiar world and see how it’s changed over time again. 10/10 for me. Also whoever designed the music, top notch! After the minimalism of the BotW and TotK, the dynamic tracks and ever changing sounds of the world were marvelous. Who knew Pokémon meets Zelda would be the highlight of the year! Completely agree it’s at the top of the list with Minish Cap and A Link Between Worlds-I’d even say above them
...why? Her coolest power was becoming Link... and then they take it away for a terrible last boss fight... and then A.I. Link does all the work. Zelda is a glorified furniture mover in this game. It's sad and super lame.

I am having so much fun. this is the first time i am going in blind to a zelda game (I've been playing the francise less than a year) Its just challenging enough for me, but not frustrating.
I managed to 100% this yesterday and i bought it on release and played it almost every day its a really cute and well done zelda puzzle game exactly what i hoped it would be, It may lack a bit in the coolness but it makes up for it with how many ways you can solve puzzles and fight monsters depending on what Echoes you own, I will admit i did get kinda tired hunting down the last stuff but i did it so thats all that matters it could have been way worse.
The game has been so much fun. I'm so glad the amount of stuff isn't as massive as in BOTW/TOTK. It's somehow less pressure to deal with to complete the game, but also it doesn't make it any worse in any way. I'm enjoying it so much
You should give them a try! Most of them are available on Nintendo Switch Online. $4 to try thing for a month isn't too bad of an investment, if you aren't already subscribed.
Echoes of Wisdom was a lot of fun! It's a very good blend of open and linear gameplay. I much prefer the more traditional dungeons to what we got in BotW and TotK (not that those were bad). I prefer the more linear storyline too. Zelda being the player character was a breath of fresh air and the strategic use of echoes was fun to figure out. The only thing that kinda annoyed me was how clunky the echoes system was. I didn't like the horizontal inventory in BotW/TotK and I don't like it here (maybe I just wasn't using it effectively or something?). I would prefer a scaled down "favorites" option, then you go into the main inventory for the more rarely used echoes.
I'm enjoying the game however, in the beginning Link felt so good to control and I am finding that I wish the game would have just been playing as Link with the echo mechanic. Or that they would have given zelda a normal attack with her rod. That would have been great if you could just whack the enemies with the tri rod.
I ADORE this game so far! I do have one big criticism, though. It doesn't feel like a Zelda game. It's 100% a Legend of Zelda game, but it doesn't feel like it matters that it's Zelda rather than Link. To me it feels like you could change her out for anyone and it wou;dn't matter. Like they didn't bother to give her anything because she's just a stand-in.
This game is unique, some of the music is delightful, and it's clearly set in a similar world/timeline to ALttP and ALBW. Unfortunately, the Big Bad, it's lore, and the info presented about the voids existing around Hyrule for hundreds/thousands of years does throw a bit of a wrench into the established timeline(s). Overall, definitely a must play game with a partially open world and path of progression.
Second favorite Zelda game after TOTK. I've only finished TOTK, Echoes, and LTTP. I've played other Zelda games but Zelda 1 & 2 were too hard for me as a kid. I watched a lot of Ocarina, but didn't personally play. I played LTTP when it was ported to PC by fans, but I was kinda bored by the third dungeon in the Dark Mirror World and completed it out of obligation alone. I'd say TOTK was my first real Zelda experience. So I'm late-to-the-party on Zelda games. If EOW didn't have the Echoes, I think I might find it similarly boring to LTTP... but it had the flexibility, creativity, and openness of TOTK (the cheating feeling) with all the nostalgia of TOTK presentation and Hyrule. A big win for a new Zelda fan, who I assume Nintendo is trying to on-board and not just cannibalize the pre-existing Zelda-fanbase.
Only thing that kinda bugs me is the frame rate. I just wish there was a 30fps lock. Otherwise it is a fantastic game for the series. Way better than I expected.
Guess I need to give this game a shot because I've heard nothing but good things about it. I wasn't really interested before due to the art style (never touched Link's Awakening for the same reason) but the more I look at it the more cute it looks
I was gonna refrain from watching anything related to echos of wisdom since i don't have the game yet but because its Hyrule Gamer vid I'll watch even if there's spoilers
So do we get any explanations for why this game has the same art style as the Link's Awakening remake, despite everything that was in that game in that particular art style taking place in the Wind Fish's dream?
No?? It's just the same engine, relax. I wouldn't ask that question about the reused assets in LA and the Oracle games. Echoes has the same art style, but completely different npcs and setting. LA is a dream because it has Mario characters. That's what sets it apart in the unreal sense.
Probably because it was always one of like three things - sandwich, bag of chips, and/or a canned soda. I also thought it was neat, but only when they were showing off something different.
The only thing that I will say about going for 100% completion. Obviously spoilers are ahead. Is that going for all 150 might crystals. Like going for all the Korok seeds in BOTW and TOTK. The reward is trash. I mean it is actually usable so it has more point than the golden 💩 for all those seeds. Final spoiler warning btw. It’s a statute out side of Lubarry’s home that if you interact with it will completely refill your sword fighter energy bar. It’s basically useless because you can’t echo it. You have to go back to his house to use it. If it would be some sort of accessory that slowly refills your energy gauge while equipped. Or some sort of passive like Mipha’s grace from BOTW with a cool down. Then it would be useful. Well it’s a step in the right direction from a useless golden 💩 statue.
If you could echo it, that would make it pretty OP. Being able to fill your gauge to full on a whim would make using the Swordfighter Form the go-to solution for every combat encounter and several puzzles.
@@OtakuUnitedStudiotrue but by the time you have that statue you will have basically infinite full energy refill smoothies anyway. It would make sense for it to be an echo, accessory or some sort of cool down like mipha’s grace from BOTW. At the point in the game you can get it. You have done 90% of the game. I’d say reward the player. Let them go hog wild. But to each their own.
I don't feel like I'm playing a 2d Zelda game in the same way I do with previous 2d Zelda games, even considering games like spirit tracks and phantom hourglass.
Am I the only one finding the puzzles being to simple and one dimensional? I was feeling during like 85% of the game that it felt intended for a fairly younger audience. I did like the game overall, but not once did I think a puzzle was genious.
"Echoes has more reoccuring stuff. I can't say what, but if you know, you know" Dude I have beaten the game and 100%ed it other than the smoothies, and I do not know what you mean
I've been playing with Izzers and we both love it (though it is taking FOREVER since she is a 4 year old). Only have 2 complaints. 1. She is upset zelda never got the bath impa offered her at the beginning of the game 2. You can't pet animals.
To 100% the game does take some time, patience, and skill, but it's absolutely achievable. Unfortunately, some of the ultimate rewards are disappointing or something that would've been more useful earlier in the game.
I am glad you liked the dungeons and bosses. I did not. I felt it was a kids game. I dreaded going thru the dungeons because it was tedious and the bosses were so boring and easy. It lack story. I still liked it more than tok. It's the first Zelda game and hope they keep going making more. I give it a 7.5
I love how this game does so much to allow puzzles to be solved in various ways without the issue that BotW and TotK had where it was super easy to accidentally bypass them.
I loved the game for exact same reasons and also thank god no more matchstick breakable like weapons of BOTW/TOTK. Also, I love how both Princess Zelda and Link were handled in the game with Zelda herself not just being a lazy gender swap girl boss type spewing ultra cringe dialogue like you see going on all over western media nowadays. Link is also not downplayed and degraded in anyway while Princess Zelda always remains kind towards all :-)
The big lore of this game is mind blowing without breaking continuity the way TOTK did. I actually subscribed to a theory that suggested it for a while.
(SPOILERS) it was the theory that the Triforce’s middle gap was representative of Amatsu-Mikaboshi in Shinto mythology, because a lot of Shintoism is free of truly evil gods, except for him, and he was responsible for the leftover of onnen in the universe. Some applied this to Majora, but Null and Majora can both be emanations of this void being.
I enjoyed the first night I played. Then the rest of the time turned into a war of attrition to finish it. By far my least favorite Zelda game in the entire series and the first that I’ve decided not to 100%. The game was incredible easy and boring.
I watched a 100% playthrough of this game and I have no desire to play it. After BOTW and TOTK this game seems way too linear and limited. I understand the desire to get back to classic dungeons, but this game feels like a massive step backwards to me. I can't believe this game costs the same as the 3D games, it's just so much more limited. I also feel like you could cheese nearly every puzzle in the game with the right combination of a few echoes. I'm not bagging on anyone that likes this style of gameplay, but this just doesn't look fun to me after what were arguably my 2 favorite games of all time.
...why are people mad that TotK reused BotW's map with alterations... yet the Link to the Past map has been used three times now and it's somehow the gold standard? not gonna lie, this game was interesting for the first 5 hours... and then it turned into an annoying, redundant slog with a horrendous final boss fight. edit: Zelda is an over-glorified furniture mover in this game - that's it. Her coolest power is becoming Link. Think about that.
I can't say I'm mad about the reused map personally, it was a cool development on the world but obviously lacked that feeling of exploration already knowing the base world
This is the worst Zelda game ever made. I lost interest after about 2 hours of "play". Its like fortnite building if the controls were super sloppy. The combat is akin to playing a necromancer in D2 without the interesting game-play elements. The NPC interactions constantly talk about Zelda as a Mary Sue. Super bummed because I love the engine for 2d Zelda games. Awakening was great. If they would have made an evolution on a link to the past using this game engine, it'd be a real winner.
I feel like this, much like A Link Between Worlds, is the perfect blend and balance of open and linear gameplay that the Zelda team is trying to achieve.

I’m about half way and I have a hard time putting it down. It’s absolutely up there with LTTP and Minish Cap my personal 2d favorites.
Playing it right now.
Did anyone tell you about the imprisoning war?
I was gonna refrain from watching anything related to echos of wisdom since i don't have the game yet but because its Hyrule Gamer vid I'll watch even if there's spoilers
I'm really enjoying it
Love this game
Love seeing deku scrubs back in a zelda game
So do we get any explanations for why this game has the same art style as the Link's Awakening remake, despite everything that was in that game in that particular art style taking place in the Wind Fish's dream?
No?? It's just the same engine, relax. I wouldn't ask that question about the reused assets in LA and the Oracle games. Echoes has the same art style, but completely different npcs and setting. LA is a dream because it has Mario characters. That's what sets it apart in the unreal sense.
Pretty sure it's just a style choice and nothing deeper
Legit question.. Why did you stop showing everyone’s “Snack or Drink”? I thought it was neat to see what other people were enjoying while gaming.
because his fans kept sending in them damn beans and toast
Yeah true
Probably because it was always one of like three things - sandwich, bag of chips, and/or a canned soda. I also thought it was neat, but only when they were showing off something different.
I don't receive submissions very often, if they are sent in I happily feature them but lately there hasn't been any submissions
@@HyruleGamerah fair enough. How do we submit them?
That and by that time you likely have more than enough materials and spare rupees to make a crapload of energy smoothies.
I fuking love this game
"Echoes has more reoccuring stuff. I can't say what, but if you know, you know"
Dude I have beaten the game and 100%ed it other than the smoothies, and I do not know what you mean
I've been playing with Izzers and we both love it (though it is taking FOREVER since she is a 4 year old). Only have 2 complaints.
1. She is upset zelda never got the bath impa offered her at the beginning of the game
2. You can't pet animals.
Can't pet animals, but you can pick up the wolfos echo! Also, check out the cat quest in Kakariko if you haven't already.
Perhaps when you get to Eldin Volcano, you could treat the hot springs in the area as a sort of bath for Zelda? ^-^
@Iffondrel haven't made it that far yet haha we just got to the start of the third dungeon (gerudo)
I give it a 7.5
Best channel ever ❤❤❤
I love how this game does so much to allow puzzles to be solved in various ways without the issue that BotW and TotK had where it was super easy to accidentally bypass them.
Right? The puzzles are so so good!
day 260 of mentioning that on 5/6/2023 hyrule gamer made a video where, at 43.46, he spent 12 seconds simping about the ancient gerudo soldiers
Link is also not downplayed and degraded in anyway while Princess Zelda always remains kind towards all :-)
Echoes of Middom
It felt a bit short...
Here is my wee comment:
Boop!
Can Zelda go fishing in this game, too? 😂
Water blocks and the bed are too powerful. 😅
They are so OP!
Are you from our wee country 😂
💜
First nice game fr
The big lore of this game is mind blowing without breaking continuity the way TOTK did. I actually subscribed to a theory that suggested it for a while.
(SPOILERS)
it was the theory that the Triforce’s middle gap was representative of Amatsu-Mikaboshi in Shinto mythology, because a lot of Shintoism is free of truly evil gods, except for him, and he was responsible for the leftover of onnen in the universe.

WAAAAAAAA
This is the worst Zelda game ever made. I lost interest after about 2 hours of "play". Its like fortnite building if the controls were super sloppy. The combat is akin to playing a necromancer in D2 without the interesting game-play elements. The NPC interactions constantly talk about Zelda as a Mary Sue. Super bummed because I love the engine for 2d Zelda games. Awakening was great. If they would have made an evolution on a link to the past using this game engine, it'd be a real winner.
I'm not sure I've agreed less with any youtube comment ever
