Random Underdogs Obscure Memories (RUOM) 2: In episode 34 or something, Jackson said he played a game with Brooke about photography, where you would stand in a place and have 60 seconds to take a photo. The best one wins and loser picks next location. Sounds like it could be an underdogs video, but I'm sad that it got forgotten by the community :(
The Underdogs rapid segments is the equivalent of a teacher hitting you with a thousand topics in one lesson and expecting you to be able to write a 500 word essay on each of them. Wild
When the segment entitled ‘Concrete’ was first mentioned on the Underdogs Podcast, it seemed that neither me or the Underdogs were excited for its fabled appearance. But when I thought its ugly head was about to rear, I was struck with an unimaginable awe. ‘Concrete’ was such an iconic segment. When the lads learned the difference between the titular concrete and cement, I felt as though my entire perspective of life itself had altered significantly. The Top 5 uses of concrete were so unique and beautiful for my soul and, as I am Italian, the top spot was incredibly relatable. I can only hope that the great beings known as the Underdogs can recreate this awe-inspiring, breathtaking, and majestic experience in a future podcast or turn the life changing occurrence, ‘Concrete’, into a longer segment. However, if this does happen, I am worried that the entirety of the world will become too enlightened by the blinding beauty of ‘Concrete’ could lead into a cult-like belief of the Underdogs. I mean, I’m down, but that probably isn’t good for our uniqueness, as taught by ‘Concrete’. I sincerely hope that this segment returns in the future, or it has an even more evolved successor in the near future, episode 100 perhaps? Thank you for reading this and, as told by the segment of ‘Concrete’, have an excellent continuation of your existence.
The abrupt endings make me piss myself laughing almost every time. I’ll always rewind a few seconds just so I can hear them again. Better than just “end the pod” and watching Zack reach over to press a button lol
Hard cuts are funny, but man, when in a bus listening to the pod I sometimes think my headphone fell out / pod started buffering so I stand there for a min, waiting for something to happen, and get jumpscared by another pod autoplaying it's funny but annoying
I agree with Peter that saying games like Mario Wonder or Splatoon are bad is a poor way of saying it. You can dislike games without saying they’re bad. And this goes beyond just games, it goes to all kinds of tastes and art, and saying something is “bad” can make people genuinely angry or self conscious. Honestly a garbage apology from Zach. He just seems to arrogant to give a genuine apology.
Yeah... i think this is the general consensus but, the rapid segments gave me some legitimate stress. I'm not 100% sure why. Feels like getting an exam.
Probably because they were too rapid for a podcast format, I'd guess. It's like they were trying to cram as much in as possible rather than let the segments come up naturally. And there's a good chance half these segments will never even come up again in the future. 😔
Zach, as a drummer and keyboardist you absolutely need to check out Knower and Louis Cole if you're wanting more "theoretical" music that's still really listenable. I recommend the albums Knower Forever (by Knower) and Quality Over Opinion by Louis Cole. By far my favorite music in recent years.
The story behind the Christmas tree comes from England when as an annual gift to the Royal family, Norway would give a fir tree. I believe this originated when Queen Victoria was the monarch. In the UK me and my family get a real tree each year but I know many people who use a faux Christmas tree, usually plastic.
Seeing Zack hate Wonder reminds me of the sadness I felt when Jordan didn’t like Scarlet. I loved the Scarlet videos and really don’t want the Wonder series to end soon. Either way, if you don’t like a game, it’s ok to not play it
I agree with most that rapid segments is bad, at least trying to time them, I can see trying to be more efficient at getting through more content, however it is very frustrating for most when you get a conversation cut off every 5 mins
I think playing other games would be good for the channel. The Daddy Legs saga was one of my favorite set of gaming videos in recent memory. Too bad you lost the TOTK segment.
I'm afraid I can only accept Little Z's apology if we get a video of Cogger and absolutely no one else playing Splatoon on the gameplay channel. I'll singlehandedly rewatch it enough times for it to make ad revenue. I'm not sure if I'm joking or not
I’ll chime in to say I’m not sure how I feel about the abrupt endings of the podcast, but at the very least I disliked them when they first started. If it went back to the old way of ending them, I would be happy!
Real tree is not a rich person thing everyone does it and it’s particularly a big thing in my family, sorry it just pissed me off that Peter said that.
I found out something CRAZY the other day. So, let me paint the scene. I'm at work and I start listening to the Bible (which is a thing you can do), which I don't usually do but I was, and as I was listening to the book of Proverbs, a certain word came up. Any guesses as to what the word was? ANT. The word was freakin' ANT. It was sort of just admiring the ants qualities and saying we should strive towards them. Then, later on in the book, it mentions them AGAIN in a similar kind of way. So, not only is Jordan a philosopher, he might just be on the same level as The literal Bible. This blew my mind. Jordan doesn't need to create a new religion, it's right there in the Christian religion. The first verse was Proverbs 6:6-8 Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest And the second one is Proverbs 30:24-25 “Four things on earth are small, yet they are extremely wise: Ants are creatures of little strength, yet they store up their food in the summer;
Yeah please, I really dislike this new 'format' it feels way too tense, and I find topics and conversations never get to fully bloom cause they just move on so quickly to segments that are quite frankly really dumb. Even made so especially by the fact that they argue so often about whether or not to even do the segment or if it's even funny, or when they barely explain the rules or when they're all talking and shouting over each other. Super messy and I've found myself turning the pod off way more than I ever used to. I'm a patron, and will continue to be. But I really think they should tone down the super jagged jumps in convos and segments.
If I’m being brutally honest, I kinda hated the timers on segments. The underdogs podcast is my favorite podcast and it has been steadily improving in quality recently, but this podcast might be a contender for the worst underdogs podcast because of the abrupt endings. Normally the podcast is a relaxing thing to have on in the background, but the endings of the segments were just really unsatisfying
Yeah I 100% agree and one of my favourite things about the podcast is the side tracks and stuff It's not about editing I'm sure most of us would watch a unedited pod very happily
Zack I'm currently writing my application to the film school I would like to go to. I was wondering if I could use your quote “As long as you get enough footage, you can turn anything into a great video.”
Zac is completely right (for once in his life). He doesn't have to like Mario Wonder. He can call it a shit game if that's what he thinks, and anyone who likes it can play it. Also I think it's a waste of time to try and force people into saying it's not 'objectively' bad, who gives a shit about what is 'objective' in any art, just say what you personally took from it, and in this case Zac was bored by Mario so he thinks it's shit.
Impressive on Nintendo’s part to make a game he doesn’t like, because as we know, art is e… art is harder to be objectively good than to be objectively bad. No no no, it’s… it’s easier to be… wait wait wait wait, okay, um… It’s harder to be objectively bad than to be object- no… it’s harder to be, it’s harder to be… It’s harder to be objectively bad than to be objectively good. Final answer.
you know as a poor non patreon user i do like this ending more because i gotta squeez out every new second i can get or ill be damned to rewatching the others for the 5th time
I’m gonna be honest, would’ve rather heard you talk about Port Priority than cricket, or any sport, ngl. Still a very good podcast and I’m never going to stop listening week to week, I feel like a self-righteous asshole for complaining about something so trivial, but what’s the deal with (or maybe anything else) would’ve been more interesting, I feel like this generally goes for most talk of sports (boxing being another example that’s come up a few times), but that might just be a me thing, idk.
Not really a huge fan of the podcast being so planned out with a schedule every week, I liked it when the pod was chill and flowed naturally! Also the rapid segments were kinda stressful. I like the abrupt endings tho so keep it up Jackson 🫡
Yeah me too. But I understand that after 90 episodes they might not have much to talk about. It's a pretty good run for a podcast and I wouldn't be surprised if they were feeling burnt out from it. But yeah, I feel that the chill nature of the pod definitely has decreased over time.

they should do this
They talked about playing DND before too. I wish we could see that

I can’t believe people don’t like Jackson’s abrupt endings. They’re so funny!
rapid segments were funny at first but then I was just getting mad they'd end LOL
never mind chocolate nog changed everything
Lmao the switch up
I really don't like rapid segements
Zac a bad podcaster…to me. Doesn’t sound so good now does it

The abrupt endings make me piss myself laughing almost every time. I’ll always rewind a few seconds just so I can hear them again. Better than just “end the pod” and watching Zack reach over to press a button lol
Definitely not a rich person thing, there are several Christmas tree farms around our area where we get real Christmas trees every year :D
Very good ending, well done Jackson!
he always does a good job :)
The hard cut at the end is always so hilarious! Please keep doing it Jackson!

Why were all the interesting segments so rushed and messy, yet the cricket one seemed to drag on forever???
Honest opinion: Rapid Segments was okay, but I'd rather not see it return.
Real Christmas trees are not a rich person thing, at least not in Europe
