  • 'The Joy Luck Club' author Amy Tan joins KQED Newsroom’s Priya David Clemens to discuss her literary career, her influence on Asian American representation in popular culture, and the new documentary "Amy Tan: Unintended Memoir" from KPJR Films and American Masters. They are joined by Kyle Redford, widow of the late director James Redford who directed the film.

    Really can’t believe this doesn’t have more views. I read the short story “fish cheeks” hundreds of times in school textbooks. I also learned later that she wrote Sagwa. Very gifted writer.

      That was one of my favorite show Sagwa the Siamese Cat.

      There is a wonderful new documentary on Apple TV of her, not sure if it’s the same documentary.

    I can speak Cantonese and Amy Tan is amazing I have heard of her book “The Joy Luck Club” definitely read this summer.
