Biggest Part Of Me was written because of How Much I Feel. He wrote the song to make it up to his wife, as the last verse of How Much I Feel wasn't too flattering to her. Both great songs!
If you want a band with phenomenal harmonies, I would suggest checking out "The Little River Band". I don't believe you've done them yet. Songs; "take it easy on me". "Man on your mind". "Lonesome Loser", "Lady", "Cool Change" and "Reminiscing" are all great places to start! 😃
Is there nothing more than the compositional power of the 70s songwriters? That era was on fire for perfectly written songs with great lyrics, vocals, and harmonies, pulling from the best of soul, blues, R&B, rock, you name it. Ambrosia, food of the musical gods.
This is one of those songs that is so obviously a hit, I like to imagine them in the studio recording it and hearing it get better and better as they add the different parts of the song.
For more "Yacht Rock", you should listen to *Sailing* by _Christopher Cross_ (considered an archetype of the style according to Wikipedia), and *Cool Change* by _Little River Band_ (LRB) which keeps the sailing vibe going.
"You're The Only Woman" and "How Much I Feel" are two more Ambrosia love songs that are worth a listen. I would recommend Billy Joel's "Just As You Are".
This was mainstream rock back in the 70's. This was when FM started taking over from AM radio and their Top 40 based music. Country music followed along as well in the later 70's.
You've got to do "Holdin' on to Yesterday" and "How Much I feel" by Ambrosia, and i second the recommendation of the person who suggested Jim Croce "Time in a Bottle" and "Photographs and Memories." Beautiful classics.
David Pack has one of the most recognizable voices. Ambrosia had many hits: Holdin' On To Yesterday, How much I Feel, You're The Only Woman.... For a couple of lesser known songs with David Pack try Ground Zero where David Pack joins Kerry Livgren(formerly from Kansas). Pack's voice soars to incredible heights. Then from his solo album try When Your Love Was Almost Mine. I'm sure you will enjoy both songs.
When Sam starts chair dancing you know the song is killer...lol... I loved this group back in the day and I done remember them being around for a long time but in my estimation they were one of the under rated groups of the day... They have more great songs to listen to if you want to go down that rabbit hole... Another great reaction guys... See you on the next one... Keep being awesome !!!...
SUGGESTION - HOLDIN ON TO YESTERDAY. While I prefer their earlier Alan Parsons progressive tunes, they had several hits with the soft rock sound. I saw them in 2018, with Firefall opening, and they were great ... David Pack, the lead singer, had passed.
I remember going down a rabbit hole back in the early 80's finding all of the albums I had that Alan Parsons had worked on aside from Alan Parsons Project.
@@kallsop2 How many did you find? Similarly, Todd Rundgren. Until recently, I recalled Joe Walsh produced Dan Fogelberg's Souvenirs album. When we had our vinyl collections, it was great to review the credits. I stopped with cassettes and CDs.
David Pack and Alan Parsons are friends. They did a cover of the Beatles song, if I Fell during lockdown a few years ago. It is awesome and worth checking out. David is still with us, by the way.
@@denismansfield8876 I had Abbey Road, McCartney & Wings Red Rose Speedway, DSOTM, Year Of The Cat, Time Passages and Ambrosia. I'd have to go back and look through for the Rundgren ones, forgot about Walsh on Souvenir's. It was interesting reading the liner notes on albums then especially when you would see people who were just shy of their own big break while playing as studio musicians. "Hired Gun" was a really good documentary about studio musicians.
Their debut album is pure gold. Not quite as commercial as their pop hits, altho the hit 'Holdin' On To Yesterday' was from this album. It's a pure blend of rock, pop & prog all rolled up into one fab album! Every song is fabulous! T
Love some Ambrosia!❤ Enjoyed your reaction and your comments were on point. Others have already recommended other songs by them and you won't be disappointed. Looking forward to more Ambrosia!!
So many great romantic pop songs by Ambrosia yet their best music was actually their early progressive rock style with songs such as Drink of Water, Nice, Nice, Very Nice,Somewhere I’ve Never Traveled, and Holdin’ On To Yesterday! Incredible songs and far more interesting!
Great Reaction!! Ambrosia has many great hits, one that comes to mind is "How Much I Feel". One of my absolute favorite! Also- off topic, you all should check out "Nothing From Nothing by Billy Preston. I'm aware that you guys have done multiple reactions to The Beatles, well fun fact, Billy Preston was considered the "fifth beatle". He was invited by George Harrison himself!
This song was Ambrosia's second Top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song peaked at the #3 spot in the summer of 1981. No doubt that this song is a definitely banger indeed!!! By the way, some r&b stations in.the 1980s played artists like Ambrosia, Hall and Oates and Michael McDonald. This type of music is called blue-eyed soul.
All four members of Ambrosia performed on some of the songs on the first Alan Parsons Project album, “Tales of Mystery and Imagination”, shortly after Alan had engineered their 1st album. He produced their second album.
Ambrosia is pronounced with a zha sound on the end. It is hard to imagine just how big they were in the 70s and 80s. They were on literally every rock station. I remember reading a review on the band back in the 1980s (I think!) and their producer was saying that to expand the band's music horizons and cognizance he took them to a classical music concert, hoping they would find inspiration to add to their already formidable list of hits. Some of Ambrosia's music is timeless no doubt about it! 😉💖🎸
"Holdin on to Yesterday" from the band debut album gives a great sense of the band's instrumental chops as well as their superb vocals. Oddly though Ambrosia is considered a Yacht rock band based on their later nits, they were at least starting out a Prog Rock outfit.
These guys were fantastic yaht rock slow rock masters!! His vocals set it apart! “How much I feel” is another banger from them in the same vein. Perfection! So many great tunes like this from the 70s
You two are hilariously beautiful together.. Sam was like, " Phil, I was rocking to the beat. Enough interrogation. Forget about that damn list. I'm rocking out". 🔥😍
Once again, Sam hit the nail on the head with the lyrics. It is definitely about starting over asthere is pain he descibes. " Wash away the past, so we can start anew". Ambrosia has so many great hits.
One of my top ten all time favorite blue-eyed soul songs. These guys doing "How Much I Feel" is also a great cut. However, the spiritual originator of this kind of music, Smokey Robinson doing "Ooh Baby Baby", especially the live, black and white version from around 1966 is really the truly great cut. You get to see the appeal of the very young Smokey and you get to see his great stage presence while hearing the sweetest voice in R&B/R&R history.
I just watched your reaction to the Terry Fox story, which was both beautiful and heartbreaking. I can’t believe I’d never heard of him before! I’m a 66-year old from Arkansas, and I lost my son, age 41, to cancer a year ago, so this story really resonated with me and inspired me. I found another video/documentary about some wonderful Canadians in Gander, Newfoundland, and what they did to help on 9/11. It’s called Operation Yellow Ribbon, done by Tom Brokow. It’s a powerful msg and I think y’all should watch and react. ❤❤❤❤❤❤ your channel and your reactions! Keep it up! Thanks! 😊😊😊😊😊
Very talented and technical band. also check out their first album and the songs: Nic, Nice Very Nice, Time Waits for No One and Holdin' on to Yesterday. YOU Will Love them!
If you're looking for a good love song, I'd recommend "When I'm With You" by Sheriff! They were kind of a one hit wonder in the early 80's but it's one of my all time favorites!!!
David Pack has one of the best voices. the songs suggested below are great ones by them. like How much I feel and Holding onto to yesterday. I also agree Little River Band is a must listen to! Lonesome loser is a great one.
The bands during the 70's are bunch of hopeless romantics. The slow rock genre started in this era. Songs from Bread, Ambrosia, Player, Bee Gees, etc. dominated the radio during that time.
🎶How Much I Feel🎶 A bigger top 40 song from Ambrosia
Great song, but this is better IMO
How Much I Feel brings them to a NEW Level.
Biggest Part Of Me was written because of How Much I Feel. He wrote the song to make it up to his wife, as the last verse of How Much I Feel wasn't too flattering to her. Both great songs!
Great Band! "Holdin' On To Yesterday" is a MUST!
Yes! Holding On To Yesterday is my favorite Ambrosia song.
On board (that Yacht) HOLDING ON!! ☮️
So is "How Much I Feel."
@@drycanyon To me it feels like a haunting tune, very good song.
You need to see the video with all of them singing and playing instruments. It's amazing. David Pack and the band are truly blue eyed soul brothers.
Agreed! Don't forget "Night Owls" and "It's A Long Way There" 2 of their best!
*Cool Change!*
I love the song" Cool Change"😍
Ambrosia means " food and drink of the gods" back during the Greek gods, just sayin' 😉😍🤔👀
Yes, Little River Band!
I was 15 when it came out and loved it first time I heard it and it still has the same effect! Crazy!
David Pack’s voice is so good!
"How Much I Feel", You're the Only Woman" or "Holdin' onto Yesterday" all great picks.
Yes, Time In A Bottle (Jim Croce)
In the 70s we honored women👊
And women respected themselves a lot more than today.

Billy Joel’s **** “Just the Way You Are”****

I can still remember being awe struck by the difference in sound when FM hit the air. Real stereo! Haha
How Much I Feel is even better. Love song with a twist.
oh, Yeah!
Love that song, but I prefer this one
How much i feel - you will love
Population explosion due to this song.
Good times.

Back in the summer of 1980 this song was at the top of the Rb/Soul and they even played this on the soft jazz stations also as well as soft rock.😊
*How Much I Feel* was their only other top ten hit, and my favorite.

" How Much I Feel." Ambrosia is 🔥. Love their songs to this day. Want to remember what you mean to each other, play this.
David Pack was a talented lead singer.
Have a great day!
Bread's "Baby, I'm-a want you" is another one that you two might like.
You guys should listen to THE ASSOCIATION if you’re into mellow harmonies.

This is one of my top ten songs …. Ever
Classic soft rock... great song
Three Dog Nights, another great group!!
Coming this week!
Such a great R&B song, with jazzy chord voicings in the vocals and a wonderful lead vocal.
They remind me of Hall and Oates!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you like sugary, romantic, super smooth soft rock love songs no one does it better than Ambrosia

The definition of smooth
The great David Pack! The real anchor and voice for the band.
Yes......this is a song of hope and promise for the woman he loves. It's his message to her that she can be certain of his unending love for her.
So good...so perfect, you said. ...thus - Ambrosia. ☺️
