    Thanks so much for the video! If you are searching for a luffa sponge supplier, we grow them commercially in the USA. Many soapmakers like to put them inside the bars of soap for an exfoliating bar. They are the softest luffa you'll ever feel.

    I use nearly all of these items and have safely for years. I also use the cute large plastic baskets with handles for quick reach items, I put all my spatulas spoons scoops etc in a plastic wash tub, their plastic container section is great for so many things. I love the big scoops of bright colors for my butters. Great post and thanks for including the Not To Use portion!

    For sprinkling mica lines you can also get a cheap pair of panty hose from the dollar store for a buck. Cut out a circle and stretch it across the mica jar and affix it with a rubber band. Then similar to Kool and the Gang....shake shake shake, shake shake shake, shake your mica....

    Thank you. I just loaded up on dollar store stuff from your dollar store soap video! I found some great drawer organizers for molds and two of them hold a 5lb batch. They have unmolded really well and make for great short and fat bars of soap. I love them. This stuff is great for people starting out and those of us on a tight budget.

    I love the Dollar Store for many items especially those spatulas. But those handled bowls are too flexible unless making very small, light weight batches. We have had the handle break in the middle of a pour and that wasn't fun (or safe). Thanks for sharing! Love your videos.

    Spend a little extra and buy a box of nitrile (medical) gloves. Of course, that's up to the individual as to whats important and whats not, but to me there's nothing worse then ill fitting gloves you feel like you have to continually pull them back up. (ex nurse here)

    Totally offtopic (my apologies) I'm about to start making soap (got my blender and scale this week). I have someone (guinea pig) that requested a soap that will work with brackish water, but that doesn't contain any coconut oil. Do you have any suggestions as to which oils will be good with this type of water?

    I've been watching your videos and I really enjoy making cold processed soap but hate waiting four weeks to use it. my question is can we process the curing by using a food dehydrator? since this will dehydrate the water from the soap making curing processed less time?

    Do you have any special ideas about cleaning up after making soap? I'm thinking particularly about not clogging drains or harming them with lye.

    • @keepthepeacesoap8469
      @keepthepeacesoap8469 10 лет назад +1

      Lye is actually used in drain cleaners so I think you shouldn't be worried about it clogging any drains (:

      Keep the Peace Soap Not so. I'd hate for you to have trouble. See what "The Nerdy Farm Wife" (www.thenerdyfarmwife.com) has to say about it in her soapmaking eBook-- Cleaning Up: For many years, I just ran my soap making pot and utensils through the dishwasher when I was done making soap. A few new dishwashers and an expensive plumbing visit to replace a portion of my kitchen pipes later, I learned that straight raw soap should never go down drains, in any form. You may get away with it for a while, but after so many batches made, the buildup will have silently grown, and plumbing problems will likely occur. While not as convenient as a dishwasher, there are two ways that I use to safely clean up soap:
      Using old rags or paper towels, wipe out the inside of the soap making pot, spatula, and end of the stick blender. It's okay if a very thin layer remains in spots, but try to get most of it. Since the soap is still caustic, wear gloves and place the rags in a triple layers of plastic grocery bags for final disposal in your trash can. You can wash the leftover bit off right away, if you use plenty of grease cutting dishwashing liquid (like Dawn) OR set the pieces of equipment aside for a few hours to dry up any remaining bits of soap, then wash and rinse as normal.
      Alternatively, skip the wiping out part and just set the pan and utensils aside in a safe spot for a day or two. The raw soap will have cured enough not to be a danger to your drains, and the pot and utensils can then be soaked in warm water for a few hours before draining and rinsing out any residue.

      I heard some people let their supplies sit for a couple of days to let it turn to soap, then they soak em and rinse them off.

    • @anastasia10017

      NO. food color will color your skin and your bathtub. food essence has alcohol and will curdle your soap. you must use soaping specific ingredients.

      Stop complaining, it isn't her fault. look for a dollar store that does carry these things nearby. In America we happen to have Dollar Tree, which carries many great items for a dollar of less. Some of their stores even have a refrigerator section and have frozen foods, juices, cheese, butter, certain meats. In addition to the candy and snacks that one would expect, they have very durable and stylish glassware(plates, drinking glasses) utensils. If you are American, look for one near you.
