Any color tends to look darker on white surface, and watercolors dry lighter compared to when they are wet.

I have started watching your videos now a days only and i am in love with your techniques. I mostly make portrait in black and white but this summers i also wanted to try out some watercolours and you have inspired me alot . So, please can you give me a tip that.. do you apply coat of water before adding colours to the paper?

i work on layers i wait until the paint dry before i apply second one. i mostly don’t work wet on wet except some times like this portrait i used wet on wet in some layers. i also use rough texture watercolor paper it’s dry quickly and i find it so much easier to deal with
