The entire time they were talking about channels that upload long videos a couple of times per year, I was just hoping they would mention LEMMiNO. He's my absolute favorite in that department.
@@Devadas44 they don't exactly make long-form content and I doubt they have ever heard of them. The videos just takes so long cause izzy the mad man creates far to much additional work for himself that nobody was ever going to notice anyway.
Thanks for sharing this channel. I’ve been watching lemmino since reading your comment and just had to come back here and say thanks.... So yeah, thanks. 🙂🐿❤️🌈
I've watched the Tiffany 2 video like 20 times, RUclips puts it in my recommendations every month and i always let it play to the end, usually while cooking or playing a video game, great stuff.
Liked the video just for the opening chat about mics. I know nothing about mics or sound engineering and have never really had any interest in it but this was great. Irreverent learning is fun. Thank you.
I totally feel the pressure of being a RUclipsr with big gaps in content creation. For me I really struggle because my community expects a lot from me but I am a one man show that’s also trying to get through high school. Very stressful
Couple things, as a long term subscriber I am recommended to rewatch and do sometimes rewatch Tiffany 2( most recently while vacuuming my living room) often. It is re-recommended both in spite of and because I've watched and enjoyed it maybe three times already. Also, I remember seeing Tiffany 2 before I knew about Tiffany 1, and going back to find Tiffany 1 and watch what it was referencing. I enjoy the research parts and unearthing the Scotichronicon as I am a researcher and academic. I enjoy "how the sausage is made" as it were more than the "Oh Breakfast at Tiffany's, is that where that photo of Elizabeth Taylor is from...? Yeah I dont think I will go back and view that reference video to enjoy Tiffany 1. This endless referential recursion ends here, Breakfast at Tiffany's is below my reference Planck distance..."
Flux assists with the binding of the metal together. Solder contains a few different metals and flux helps them weld properly. It is used in a lot of metal working.
I must have completely broken Algorithms expectations right now. 50% through (will finish), brand new subscriber as of this first watch-listen, having never listened before, but it's an audio podcast I'm watching on RUclips premium (which I understand is another incentive for content creators). And now commenting and liking to drive engagement. Surely you're getting sirens sounding on your end? But no bell. Never the bell. I won't use the bell.
If it makes Grey feel better, me and my family spent about 3 hours last night researching hummingbird behaviors and life cycles so we could theorize more about the hummingbird nesting outside Edit: on the Obsidian problem… why can’t you just export the script you’re trying to share as a PDF and send that to whoever you want to share it with? It sounds like that’s pretty much what you’re doing, but you’re making it sound like a huge ordeal. Is Obsidian not conducive to this process?
Yeah what fun is a family get together if you can't learn about some esoteric thing. In my family, though, we start by trying to logic it out first and get our bets in as to what the answer is, only then do we look up the real answer.
Speaking of pulling back the curtain on ADR, I can no longer go to museums without noticing all the flaws, things hung wrong, lights distracting from the object, and more. Getting a job in the field has cursed me
This isn't actually where I listen but I had a comment. I am a tally for family that works like that. Favorite family game is "look it up" originally done with the giant dictionary
I was also very tempted by reMarkable, but opted for the Onyx Boox range as they had backlight (for bedtime reading) and have access (post some minor fiddling) to the android play store to fill some gaps. Another option is SuperNote (no backlight), but apparently better pen-to-paper-feel.
Long form over 2 hours content tends to keep a lot of rewatchability that 20-30 min content doesn't quite have There's this channel (QuintonReviews) which makes analysis that last over 6 hours and when I found them I watched them in chunks, but after that they've become sort of an girl talk all day for me It's good noise, that I can turn back to and be interested, but if I ignore it there's still a few hours of it to go
@cgpgrey Grey, I think there's a way for you to share your files without abandoning obsidian You can share your vault using Google drive and selectively sync files so you only give your assistant access to say a folder with only the parts she needs access to
45:00 If anything, while watch time is important, Retention matters WAY more. I have a suspicion that it plays a part into the shorter videos getting a boost lately in addition to a minute long video is less of a commitment than a 1 hour long one. Now if you excuse me I will continue to watch the video now
I personally haven’t tried this out, but you can sync your obsidian vault to a GitHub repository, where you can allow people to only make changes in specific folders. Hope this might be helpful
I didn't know there was a word for it, but I know of Plosives because of the cheap shield bands use when they can't find anything else... A sock (or multiple socks).
So if you have a cardioid microphone then you need to angle it at 45 degrees to avoid plosives. If you're still getting them then you're needing a better microphone, a better windsock or you might consider a shotgun mic.
Yeah I’m a youtuber that doesn’t have content gaps as shown by my name, but for longer videos that take times I’ve found are what I return to. Hbomberguy, quintonreviews, lemmino, all great people, the audience drives the algorithm as much as there is the reverse.
My main thing is a sequential series [animated adaptation of a D&D campaign] where the episodes are like 30-40 minutes, once every 2-3 months. I'm not that big a channel, so I make approximately *lol-nothing* from youtube, but I make a living from my generous patreon patrons. If you do niche content that a few thousand people just ABSOLUTELY LOVE and most people won't even click on, Patreon is the key. Doubly so if it's a continuing series where onboarding new viewers on episode #64 is just not gonna work.
Tom Scott has an uncut video of launching garlic bread into space. I fall asleep to RUclips every night RUclips plays this garlic bread in space video for me about once a week and every time I wake up because it's so staggeringly stupid that it keeps showing me THAT video of all things that it actually wakes me up.
1:06:30 There are times when asking why in a discussion I say to my interlocutor "The answers exist but no exaggeration, there are literal master and doctorate programs that allow for an intuitive understanding of this subject. Just how off topic do you want to get?"
Behind the scenes videos have different keywords. People searching for "how becoming a youtuber" checking for existing behind the scenes videos to change their process as well as people who are just interested in how being a youtuber works.
Kit Betts-Masters is a youtuber/Professor that reviews the e ink tablets and categorizes them based on different types of professional use case. Remarkable is the famous one, but there are others that are better at collaboration since Remarkable is pretty locked down.
Also for obsidian issue. Couldn't Grey do something with syncthing with a vault that is a duplicate of the scripts that she then can edit? Or is that still kind of messy?
See the thing is i heard the difference but it isnt the first time there had been subtle differences in recording and you guys tend to move stuff around in the show, anytime i hear a difference in recording i just assume its been moved from somewhere else in the show
I would get annoyed with a big microphone hanging from the ceiling that had to be inches from my face. I imagine I would be constantly paranoid that I would bump into it with my nose and so would be staring it down getting cross-eyed. And I'm also a big believer in setting it up and don't touch.
Why do you copyright strike streamer vods such as ludwig? I think it's totally within your right to do so but I'm interested in the reasoning behind it.
The entire time they were talking about channels that upload long videos a couple of times per year, I was just hoping they would mention LEMMiNO. He's my absolute favorite in that department.
Lemmino and fredrik knudsen
I was thinking about Deep Dive, but his videos are not over an hour. (Note there are multiple channels with that name)
i was thinking SomethingWittyEntertainment
@@Devadas44 they don't exactly make long-form content and I doubt they have ever heard of them. The videos just takes so long cause izzy the mad man creates far to much additional work for himself that nobody was ever going to notice anyway.

Yeah I think that's a thing they don't factor in. The people who like Tiffany 2 like it so much we rewatch it often
The microphone discussion was so good.
Yes! More microphone talk
I would watch a video series of Grey just explaining physics.
he could probably make that if he wanted but he always has more than enough projects at any given time
2:00 "I see people on RUclips... they must do that so they don't get plosives." Myke's response was so appropriate yet blunt. 🙂
Liked the video just for the opening chat about mics. I know nothing about mics or sound engineering and have never really had any interest in it but this was great. Irreverent learning is fun. Thank you.
Also the Tiffany video views, I've listened to the follow up 5 times but the original only once. Might also be bumped by rewatches.
I totally feel the pressure of being a RUclipsr with big gaps in content creation. For me I really struggle because my community expects a lot from me but I am a one man show that’s also trying to get through high school. Very stressful
greys family dynamic with the airplay googling is awesome i love it

I've just found this podcast and it's really scratching that CGP itch! You guys are hilarious and brilliant
Mic rambling is sure great start (not ironic, I love these guys)
Myke rambling with Mic (wait, scratch that, reverse it)
My family also does the googling whenever something odd strikes us. It is different from the norm, but is much more interesting.
My family totally does this too.

Omg solder!! I thought he was saying sauna and was so confused as to how that was a skill!
I laughed out loud at the ADR section in the last podcast! I listen on Spotify though so forgot to come back here and make a comment :)

Collective going is fairly common for those that have a culture of education. Life long learning being important etc.

Finding out Gray's interactions with his family are like mine now makes a lot of sense.
Grey, we need to get you onto 32 bit float. For the lulz.
Awesome video! Loved it!!
Comment to drive engagement up!
Never have I heard the word plosives so many times and not knowing what it meant😅

All I took away from that conversation about audio recording is the fact that you guys still use skype
First! It is a great day when a new episode of cortex is uploaded.

Ahh. *Frustrated Grey Noises* 🪨
Myke pronouncing it "sawder" has ruined my day. Turn in your tea drinking licence at the front desk.

Grey am a horse.

Cortex is chewing gum for the mind: not intrinsically useful but mildly enjoyable.
Also easy to consume if you don't want heavier content! Cortex is my favorite migraine podcast
Kit Betts-Masters is a youtuber/Professor that reviews the e ink tablets and categorizes them based on different types of professional use case. Remarkable is the famous one, but there are others that are better at collaboration since Remarkable is pretty locked down.
The initial conversation about microphones is easily the most boring thing I’ve ever heard in my life
Also for obsidian issue. Couldn't Grey do something with syncthing with a vault that is a duplicate of the scripts that she then can edit? Or is that still kind of messy?
Did know this exist.....
Microphone advice!!
only 10... yeah

Short form getting boosted by algorithms lately is purely a vested attempt to pull views from tiktok. The algo is at its core designed to make money.
wait was 15:47 intentional or?

Finally no more covid talk👏🏻
