So agree!! Delibra, Perico throw backs..!!! Tommy Porrello is like a carry over from those days..late 1960’s when he played in the LA Studios he played with those greats.. he did the tv show “Hollywood Palace” last LIVE Tv show. Trumpets: Manny Klein, Ray Triscari, Harry “sweets” Edison and Portello… “Tom Jones” TV Show: Audino, Ray Triscari, Jimmy Zito and Porrello. “Pat Paulson 1/2 Comedy Hour” tv show was just 2 trumpets… Conte Candoli and Porrello! So Porrello caught the tail end of the guys.. Porrello a LEGEND in Las Vegas and Delibra is incredible… seen him play live dozens of times at the Riviera Hotel with the Don Menza Big Band.. both Tommy’s in the section! and what I’ve heard on video of Perico he’s right up there!!! So many stories.. I’ll email you a few shortly… Margolin’s sound is the same as Gozzo just in a different music idiom.. crazy power…
St. Petersburg was once called Leningrad. My grandfather was the youngest composer/professor of the now St. Petersburg Conservatory. OK, name droppin....
