- It is pumpkin time. Hello!
This is an easy DIY project decorating a miniature faux craft pumpkin with a sweater puppy inside for display in small scenes, dollhouses or fall celebrations.
The video shows the “puppy dog inside a pumpkin Jack-O-Lantern” using a purchased mini craft pumpkin from a package & a porcelain dog.
My inspiration piece is a Halloween treat paper bag measuring 9 x 5 x 2 1/2” as shown. The bag bottom lists Greenbrier International, Inc. of Virginia, USA, as the distributor.
The pumpkin measures approximately 3/4 x 3/4” & the dog is 5/8 x 1/2”. My goal is to select a pumpkin & dog to fit or look like the inspiration piece.
*Also see my previous video on mini gnomes for striped sweater ideas & method by gluing two strands of embroidery floss in between kite string on a plastic protector.
Materials & suggested items for project:
[1] craft pumpkins - that are able to be cut open, 3/4 x 3/4” or so, this can vary so select one that fits the animal
[2] animal or creature - to fit inside pumpkin, 5/8 x 1/2” or so, can be a dog, cat, owl, other ideas…I am using a 1:24 or half scale chihuahua or rat terrier dog
[3] paint - spray primer paint & acrylic paints in oranges, greens, blacks, grays, whites
[4] copy or computer paper - white
[5] embroidery floss & kite string* - white & green & plastic protector page
[6] ruler, pencil
[7] glue - PVA clear dry, like Aleen’s original tacky glue or others, matte sealer
[8] containers to hold glue or paints, like a bottle cap & toothpick applicators
[9] scissors, craft knife & cutting mat, wire cutter
[10] tweezers
[11] toothpicks
[12] floral wire - wrapped green
[13] quilter pins - size 28 for paint application
[14] paper punches - 1/8” star, 5/16” sunburst, 5/8” circle, 5/8” six petal flower shape
[15] permanent markers, color pencils - black & red-orange
[16] easy release tape & paper/cardboard mat for spray paint

Great tutorial
Cute tutorial! Can you please give me more information about the quilter’s pen? Who makes them? I tried looking it up and I can only find an ink pen that writes on fabric. Thanks in advance! I like your use of paper punches too. Looking forward to seeing more videos. 🎃
It is larger than a sewing pin, Dritz company, #133 craft or quilter pins, 1 3/4”
