one thing to remember is audio equipment that have the labels -
    Made in Germany
    Made in Japan
    Made in the UK
Made in the USA all come with higher labor cost and taxes .
I'm a total fan for all of the above and am willing to pay extra for those labels .
    Some people are not ,so,,,?

Incredible review! Can you reccomend an amp and dac for a planar headphone? I enjoy smooth top end, and bass in the low end with clarity as well. Thanks for your help!

I just read a post from the Honest Audiophile youtube channel about this amp. His Phonitor SE blew his 660S' drivers and according to him he had this issue with two different units. So you might want be careful with it. If you want to read the post it's in his community tab.

very interesting, I'll have to check that out. thanks for the tip. As far as the unit I reviewed - just a loaner review unit so no longer in use here.

An impressive company. Thanks for the review! How do you think the crossfeed feature on the Monolith THX AAA (that you reviewed) compares to it?

I'm also curious about it. How is it compared to the crossfeed of the RME ADI 2 DAC or other products?

Thanks for checking out the review. The crossfeed on the 788 is fine for some single player gaming/atmospheric stuff. The Phonitor line makes your headphones sound like speakers for when trying to mix tracks. Different use cases all together.

    • @gamingaudioguide9292

for mixing tracks - use SPL or nothing. For atmospheric, single player gaming or movies several brands have options that are fine. All of them mess up competitive gaming.

@@gamingaudioguide9292 you right you did, I saw after 🤣. In your opinions Senn hd800 series or clears for 60% music and 40% gaming. Have the Senn 560s but it's just missing something, wish it sounded a bit more lively but I do appreciate the soundstage. Thanks for your input!

@@j1nftw1n Keep in mind this is all subjective. The Clear MG Pro is almost a perfect headphone in my mind. I prefer it over the HD800 for gaming and music. Let me know what you end up going with. Purchase from a distributor with a good exchange/return policy to make sure you get what you are after.

I want to use this to mix on headphones with a apollo x8 interface
Do you think the rca inputs are a reason to reconsider buying this?

Compared to the Drop THX One AAA, is there much difference in sound quality? I have the Drop and I am thinking of changing it for this SPL

Could you please comment on its performance with easy to drive headphones? Is there any low level or even faint hum with such headphones due to the very powerful output of this amp?

What Amp + Dac would you recommend to pair with the DT 1990 Pro? (I listen to a mix of classical, EDM, indie if that matters) I also game a lot competitively and hearing footsteps accurately is a huge plus.

I just ordered the 990 pros & a sound blaster g6 after reading up on it if that helps you any. I heard good things about arc mk2 or more expensive to the g6 the ae-9 for pc).

Hey. Could you please help me decide between Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 80 Ohm, Sennheiser HD 599, AKG K702, Philips Fidelio X2HR, SteelSeries Arctis 7, HyperX Cloud Revolver ?
I will use the headphones for games (not competitive, just single player) and music on my Pc at home only. Not mixing, not critical. I like a good soundstage but i also like a good bass (not exaggerated just decent and clean). I like a sound that is not tiresome, just pleasant to hear, not to bright not to much bass.
Which one is better all around? I am kind of thorn between DT770, HD 599, AKG K702 to be honest. And i saw some good reviews for Beyerdynamic Tygr 300 R but i can't buy them yet in my country. Or if you have other recommendation in this price range. Thanks

Off topic :😓 Just watched the sennheiser hd 560s review and it sold me. Now I wonder if I NEED an amp for mostly series x use connecting it directly to the controller. Currently using hyper xcloud alpha and it works great that way, but yeah. Any thoughts?
The cloud alpha is 65 ohm vs 120 on the sennheiser. I don't need to play loud since my tinnitus doesn't allow that anyways. ☺️

I have the HD 560s and I would definitely get an amp to get the full benefit of the overall details you are missing just plugging into a controller. I have the SoundBlaster G6 for gaming on console and an Ifi Zen Dac for my pc for music. The Zen Dac blows the G6 away though.

@@phanatic23608 Alright. Hmm. I looked up some vids and reddit threads after your comment and the g6 with console seem to work but you'll need a hdmi to optical splitter and Dolby atmos seem to not work? And Mic problem. I don't know. I don't really wanna start fiddling around. Some comment said its best to plug the g6 in the tv optical but I only have one optical and my soundbar is connected there. Will have to read some more but I hoped it would work good enough just to plug into the controller. Thanks for answering though. I feel I have some more reading to do.

@@memorycard1000 I don't like the mic on the G6. Way too "noisey". I bought an external mic and just bypass the G6 for the poor mic quality. On the G6, scout mode is on another level. It's good for FPS games.
