    Its unfair to ask so much for international students. They know they're a first world country, most students that will have the intention to apply are probably from third world countries, it's very tone deaf to raise the tuition so much and to make you pay in one instalment.

    Thank you so much for making this video! This truly is so so informative and important for me now. I’m an offer holder for BA Fashion Marketing in LCF and I’m considering studying at UAL this year.
    However, the things that I have heard about UAL from students who study there now or in the past have made this decision relatively difficult. I understand there are loads of resources in UAL and amazing tutors. Nevertheless, I’m really concern about the situation that’s been around in the uni, such as the examples that you gave.
    I’m also an international student! The tuition is honestly crazy, it’s £22k for me if I decided to go😱 with no scholarship opportunities!!! I believe there is still no scholarship available for international students.
    Last, but not least, it’s so nice to hear the thoughts of people in similar situations. I wish you and your friends the best😊 Once again, thank you for making this video!!

    Just a note on scholarships, as an EU student, you are still not eligible for anything, unless you lived in the uk before the start of your first term. Hardship funds only opened for us with the pandemic, so the only benefit is the lower tuition and the tuition loan, but they don’t help you out with living or anything else. And the cafeteria is overpriced too.

      As an 'Home' student as well as she said majority of the scholarships goes very directly to fashion courses and college's which really isn't fair cause I know my student loans will be small but not enough to really cover my whole experience. It's such a shame cause I will then need to start working again

    I'd like to also add some useful information as this video was extremely useful and informative. I am an EU student but applied to ual (CSM) as a HOME student in order to get a student loan. Now it's impossible to get one if you're not a HOME student, cuz Brexit. Speaking of the foundation year. Apparently now it's necessary to go through a foundation year. I have graduated from a college of arts in EU and studied 4 years of fashion design alongside all subjects at secondary school, so i have a certificate and diploma in fashion design. I applied through UCAS and got rejected from CSM because I do not have a foundation year diploma, but on the website, it's written clear as the day "This course requires a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design or equivalent one-year intensive art and design or fashion-related course", WHICH I DO HAVE, I have not only one-year intensive art and design fashion related course but even more ( i also meet the requirements mentioned on the website for this course, such as IELTS exam results and all my subject grades (both art-related and general subjects at school are from 8-10( out of 10) which is A or A+ in the UK's grading system. So I had to apply again for the same course but for foundation year as well, which means one extra year with, I believe, other students who either couldn't apply properly just like me and the ones who haven't decided their major yet. So yeah I'm not completely sure why the system has changed like this, probably it got messed up because of the pandemic or smth, bc i do not have any logical explanation behind this mess and why the university's administration doesn't provide info like this... its' just soooo unprofessional and stressful

    hey! i'm considering UAL as one of my top art school choices. my other choices are Pratt, RISD, Parsons, and MassArts. UAL is the cheapest of the 5, even as an international student (i live in the US). should i put UAL lower on my list of schools? how difficult is it for students in the US to apply? i have no idea how student visas work or anything. i'd love to learn more about the school because though i know that no school is perfect, this video definitely paints the school in a decently bad light haha. any help would be appreciated!

    Hi, I was considering this school for Ba(Hons) in Film Practice but I didn't get much information from the website about the equipment aspect. Since you are from a similar course, how are the equipment in your point of view, e.g. cameras, lighting and sound stuff. And how is the process of borrowing it? It would be a shame if I had to pay 20k in tuition and still had to shell out for basic filming equipment. Thanks.

    • @AliceAna
      @AliceAna  3 года назад +1

      It’s super easy to borrow the equipment and as long as you take care of it, you can borrow it as many times as you’d like. In terms of how good they are, the cameras are Sony FS5, which are good, but not amazing. Light and sound is good, more than you need. Overall I love that part of the university because you can use it in any project you want, doesn’t have to be in uni

All except UAL are direct entries to BA while UAL is a foundation course (LCC). The rankings clearly show UAL as the top choice but i'm not sure. (a) UAL doest have a campus like LEEDS so i feel that campus life + facilities will be compromised (b) Foundation year may be a waste of time. Please help me decide. FYI my son holds a British Passport but since we live in India he will be considered as an international student.

    I'm planning to study fashion design at UAL, if I do a foundation year will I be getting a job directly after finishing? I am planning to do a 9 month certificate course in Dubai next year and then go for a foundation year or undergrad depending on which suits better, will I be eligible for a job? Or do I need a masters?

    • @AliceAna
      @AliceAna  3 года назад +2

      Hey! So every course has different entry requirements.. this page is where you can find them all and see under the "entry requirements" tab what they ask for: www.arts.ac.uk/courses
      Sounds like your certificate course could be like a foundation year, so you could go directly into a BA. But check it out, and you can always email them to ask and make sure.
      You will be eligible for a job once you hace done an undergrad, but UAL doesn't take responsibility for you finding a job. They help you prepare for interviews, build your portfolio and even write your CV, but applying to jobs and getting them is all on you, no matter what you are studying (foundation, MA, or BA)
      What I suggest you do is ask what type of certification you will be receiving with the course you will be doing in Dubai, then ask if you can join an undergrad right away after doing it. If you can't I would suggest looking at short courses and maybe completing some that are very specific to what you want to do so it's a very "tailored" education and you can find a job. But if you can, I would do an undergrad.

      They help you get ready for interviews and create your CV, but that’s it. It might be different for a few courses, but not for most.
      They do have scholarship options, but they are very limited. Once you see them they are specific for certain courses or certain types of students (for example: home/EU)

      Depends on the course and the campus! For example, CSM is really hard to get into

      I guess it depends on how much guidance you need. If you are very independent, yes, if not, you might not make the most out of your money

    i'm confused for my foundation course. all the courses i researched so far require a foundation diploma. but there are two choices:
    www.arts.ac.uk/subjects/fine-art/pre-degree-courses/foundation-diploma-in-art-and-design-camberwell#course-summary = camberwell
    www.arts.ac.uk/subjects/3d-design-and-product-design/pre-degree-courses/foundation-diploma-in-art-and-design-csm#course-summary = central saint martins
    does it matter which one i take? say if i apply for the csm course, will i not be able to do a certain undergraduate course once i finish?
