Nest mortality is at an all-time high from predators and ensuing nest survival is a huge step forward in turtle conservation. T hank you for saving the turtles. I live in Ohio and I am teaching my granddaughter about the Eastern box turtles , snapping turtles and aquatic turtles we have in our south Eastern Ohio area. She is like a sponge , with all this knowledge. She saved a baby snapping turtle from the road it was so tiny. I dont see how she even spotted it. It was so tiny.❤👍🏼👏🏼im still scared of snakes but im learning everyday watching you guys. I have a respect for them now and i protect them when i can. I didnt used to out of fear.

Are there places you can release these turtles after they hatch. Such as National Forest or other types of habitat in your area ? For education and conservation concerns, could you explain how you deal with them since your able to increase their survival..

Keep “protected”. It’s hard, people come here even and vandalize things like our blue bird boxes. Sad.

Why the hell would someone vandalize a turtle nest? No wonder you hate most humans. (I do too.) Thank you for protecting the babies. You can tell that the mama turtle did a great job digging that nest.

They want to ride quads and dirt bikes in the area that is “conservation land”. They destroyed all of the bird nesting boxes we had mounted on poles. Childish jerks.

Great stuff! You said you use cameras. Any footage you could show of what animals come to try to predate the nests?
I use time lapse. In the past it’s various mammals but skunks are the main culprit. I generally just delete.
